first time puppy (and dog at that) owner. (though i do take care of my tía’s chihuahua a few times a month and have been for about 7 years). i know nothing about taking care of a puppy, but my sister is helping me out a lot! while im at school my grandma takes care of him. in my previous post i was asking for names. his name is pablo!!! i did appreciate all the names that were given but none of them felt right. i saw everyone’s comment and i appreciate u all, thanks so much! got him on valentine’s day and we’ve gotten more acquainted! took him to the vet, and he’s healthy. 6-8 weeks, 3.14 lbs, don’t know what breed he is but judging by his paws he’s a smaller breed. i did however find out he’s supposed to eat about 4-5 times a day and i was only feeding him twice. if anyone has any advice at all on how to take care of him and make him more comfortable, even how to train him and what to train him, anything like that at all, please dm me or comment. i’d greatly appreciate it!

everyone has been saying that!! my sil did a google search and it said jack russel too. I guess we’ll see when he grows into his features :)) & tysm, i’m trying to make him as comfortable as possible. my friends were saying out of the whole litter he was probably the luckiest to go home with me because his siblings went home with kids who aren’t very consistent. (a woman with a van was just giving them out for free, i managed to take pablo 💕!!)
My advice for raising a puppy is to get used to chaos! lol And to enjoy to puppy breath and cuddles as much as possible! He’s so cute!
And hide your shoes! Our puppy loved my expensive shoes when no one was looking 😭

Hahaha he’s 4 lbs now! When i took him to the vet and they said he’s supposed to be eating more, he gained weight immediately the next day!

I got a puppy myself three months ago, and I spent an entire month before getting her on training myself on how to train her through YouTube videos and Google articles. Please please take the time to watch as many YouTube videos on how to take care of a puppy, and how to train a puppy. All the information you need is there. Instagram also has some good reels. this is my second time having a dog and I will not make the same mistakes with her like I did with my first one (in all fairness, YouTube didn’t even exist back then, and I was incredibly young). I cannot emphasize how important it is to train them for the sake of their well-being, as well as your mental well-being.
The most important thing is that everybody living under the same roof is consistent. If one person is giving her human food scraps and the other is trying to train her not to beg for food you’re never going to win. So make sure everybody is aligned and applying the same disciplines. He is the cutest little thing

When my sister introduced her cat to her two dogs, she quarantined her cat in a room for a couple weeks so they would get used to each others scent :)) I’m sure having a buddy would be soo fun! I always felt bad for my tías old chihuahua because he’s so lonely during the day while she’s at work (she’s a nurse) but my sister moved in with her and brought in her two dogs and cat! he’s a lot less lonely now 😂

He very much looks like a Jack Russell to me. This breed needs a lot of exercise and must be trained so that you are the leader of the pack. There's some terrific videos online how to train this breed so watch them. They are the best dog to own! So loyal and protective. You'll have many fun times with Pablo, he's absolutely gorgeous!
I looked up a picture online of a jack russel puppy and honestly i found one that looks identical to him, he might be one! Thank you so much for the advice. I’ll definitely keep this in mind; i’ve already started teaching him when to go potty and i’ve had him about 4 days there’s been no accidents in the past couple days..i’m surprised how little he’s been with us; i thought it was about week already!!

To strengthen the bond between you and your new pup, you should be the one that feeds him. If possible take him to a puppy training class (PetCo stores have them) where they will teach you how to train your pup.
I feed him 4x everyday! But i’m at school for 8 hours and my mom will feed him between then. my mom wants him to be independent, not structured on me like my grandma’s dog is. :’) but ty for that, i didn’t know pet co has classes.. my mom doesn’t wanna go there to buy anything because it’s so expensive; but i’ll let her know! that’s really helpful.
