Hey, I just graduated from a Canadian high school, and I wish to pursue medicine. A few months ago, I got accepted into Queen University of Belfast and Edinburgh Medical School in the UK!! Yay!! However, I also received an offer from Queen Bhsc and McMaster Bhsc. I am grateful for all the opportunities I received, but I'm also having a hard time making a decision.

I want to go to medical school in the UK, but the prospect of graduating with huge amounts of debt and living alone is something I'm now confronting. I wouldn't mind staying in the UK to work, but I heard that there are conflicts between the NHS and the doctors right now and that the working conditions aren't that great. And as we all know, matching back to Canada as an IMG is known to be difficult, especially if you want to pursue a popular specialty.

Bhsc in Canada seems like a safe option for me, but I know that the medical school entry cycles can be exhausting and sometimes random, and I don't want to regret passing up on an amazing opportunity.

So if anyone has any advice for me it’d be very much appreciated. Is it smarter to get started now, even if I'm in a huge amount of debt upon graduating, or to stay in Canada with no guarantee of success??

thanks!
