We started the “Oh Crap!” method today with our 22 month old. She sat on the potty and peed this morning at the beginning (although it was not clear if intentional or not). Then we caught her mid poop and got her partially to finish the poop in the potty. We have missed 3 pees… the first she hid behind a curtain and peed. Then twice when my husband and I were trying to brainstorm if we were doing it right and weren’t paying total attention to her. We aren’t sure if that means she’s taking the opportunity for “privacy” and we are missing her cues or shes totally clueless and it’s just been timing. I’m inclined to believe we are missing it because she wants more privacy. We are increasing the prompting (from basically none to occasional), and staying the course. Mostly I’m looking for reassurance this is totally appropriate and normal and we aren't fucking it up!!!
