I’ve been working on these for a while and have more to come, but here are some of the complete ones which I’m happy with!
Thank you! The shadows on that one were really fun to work on!
The Unown and Pachirisu ones are my favorites.
I adore the Pachirisu, it made me laugh, also the Unown one is cool
These are amazing. Vapore-ona Lisa made me lol
Thank you! That was the first one I did bc I thought of the title first and it made me want to make it real lol!

The Vaporeon one looks like a meme cat or smthing
thats because it is
I looked up “Mona Lisa cat” a second ago to see and apparently turning cats into famous paintings is very common lol. Vaporeon is also cat like in its features so it makes sense that they seem similar.
You can't call yourself Ms. Badger and not do one with Linoone the badger Pokemon!
I’ll have to brainstorm more to figure out what painting Linoone makes sense with! I have more planned but I’ll keep Linoone on my Pokémon to think about list! Thank you!
Awesome! These paintings are absolutely great so I'll be looking forward to all of your work 😁
Would The Lady with an Ermine work?
Maybe. I’ll keep it in mind, but I try to make all of the figures be Pokémon, so I’m not sure which I would replace the Lady with if I made linoone replace the ermine. Other than I could maybe make the ermine into zigzagoon and the lady into linoone I guess.
Perhaps replace the lady with a humanoid mon? Gardevoir, Tsareena, Pheromosa, etc.
Buzzwole holding a Zigzagoon/Linoone would be hilarious.
Hmmm maybe. I’ll take a closer look at it and some Pokémon options once I finish the next two. Maybe it’ll be third on my upcoming list.
Love seeing this kind of art, reminds me of the pikachu van gogh we had a few months ago
Thank you! That was part of why I started - I saw Pikachu as Van Gogh and then my brain came up with Vapore-ona Lisa and I got to painting lol!
Well good job! keep going with the good work
The one with the Unovns is great!
(I mean, it's a very good idea to change it to these Pokemon, it really fits)
Thank you! I thought they fit well too and I’ve always thought the unowns were fun so I wanted to spotlight them a bit!
These are awesome!!! Fantastic work!
How long do they take you to paint, on average?
Is Starry Night one of the upcoming ones?
Thank you! On average, I’d say they take about three hours, some less and some more depending on the level of detail. I’m working with smaller canvases (6 x 6 inches) so far - because I don’t want to limit how many I can do and smaller ones are easier for storage/space reasons lol.
I’m not sure if I’ll do starry night - I considered it but I’m still not sure if I feel I could do it justice yet without thinking on it more first.
The next one I have on my list is a Monet with Lotads that I’m excited to work on and then I’m planning on a Seurat (which might be my first larger canvas in the series since pointillism is crazy lol). I have two commissions I have to finish up before I tackle more of these, but I will probably do at least the Monet in the next few days because they’re so much fun.
3 hours?! That's really quick for the amount of detail and resemblance in your paintings, even if it's 6" x 6"!
That Monet sounds really cool, can't wait to see it! Yeah, a lot of Seurat's paintings have loads of details. A Sunday Afternoon is one of my favorites.
You've inspired me to finally start painting ol' Bold and Brash. I've been wanting to start painting again for a while, and I think that would be a good starting point haha.
Thank you so much! I think it actually helps working on the smaller canvas in some ways - less pressure to get every detail absolutely perfect when they’re small lol. I do go a little fast - usually I do a sketch with pencil in an hour, then the painting time varies - but acrylic drying so fast helps (if I used oil these would take forever).
I love that one too! I’ve never tackled pointillism before but I’ve always wanted to so I definitely want to at least try it for one of these. I was actually thinking of A Sunday on La Grande Jatte maybe - but I’d have to do a bigger canvas and it’s a lot more figures than I’ve done so far so I’d have to pick a Pokémon that I’m okay with doing multiple or pick multiple Pokémon and idk yet.
That would so funny to paint! Please do it! The hardest part is starting the first painting but once you’ve done it - you get sucked back in for a while lol.
Yeah see, I'd be the opposite. Because it's a smaller painting surface, I would be overly meticulous trying to scale down the detail and "getting it just right." Acrylic is the way to go! So much cheaper and easier to work with, until it dries at least haha.
I think different mons (albeit more difficult) would be the way to go. There are a lot of neat, individual characters in that painting, so it would be really cool to see what mons you pick for each one. Of course, picking one and making it portray the different subjects could also work well.
I'm going to start this weekend! :) Any tips on supplies and techniques? I've already bought the canvas and brushes from HL. Figured acrylic for the paint, but that background looks like it would be easier with watercolors or something.
Yes, I love acrylic, it’s my fav for sure.
I think different ones would be cooler too but we’ll see how I feel when I get to that one lol.
Sometimes if I’m doing a solid background that’s just one or two colors then I like to use a foam brush to spread it faster and more evenly. Otherwise I’d say just make sure you wait until layers dry before adding more. I’ve accidentally tried to do the whites of eyes too early and messed everything up. Same with adding shadows and highlights. Acrylic dries fast so be patient but luckily you don’t have to be too patient (this is more oil shade lol)
Okay so I figure: Sketch ol' Bold and Brash with pencil -> Paint background dark yellow -> Paint in areas with the lighter shade of yellow -> Paint B&B outline with light turquoise -> Add in shadow areas with darker shade of turquoise -> Paint in tentacle suction thingies -> Paint in eyes -> Go over outline in a dark shade of green with a fine brush
Sound about right?
I think that should work - I’d just add to be careful with using yellow paint over dark pencil sketches - sometimes it smears it - I would know cause I just made that mistake recently lol (if you do a whole base coat of yellow versus go around for the background)
Ah hopefully it was an easy fix for you!
I figured I would go around the outline, but thanks for the heads-up! I'm excited to start this tomorrow!
I made it kind of okay lol
Have fun! You should post it when you’re done (and then tag me so I can see)!
rename it The Old Lucario
No, the Vapa Lisa
