I was using my iPhone 13 pro max and i dropped it. when i went to pick it up a good portion of the screen was completely black and around 1/4 of it was still completely fine. the phone is still completely functional, I can still use apps, it is still very fluid, everything WORKS fine. I just can't see. I was wondering if i got the screen replaced would that fix it? or will i have to get a new one?
Yes. A routine screen replacement will get you fixed right up, and is much cheaper at a reputable repair shop than a new phone.
The technical explanation for this is that the impact of the drop caused an area of the super thin OLED layer in your screen to crack, or die. Once the pixels die, they’re dead. And this effect can actually spread over time as the nearby pixels are now weakened.
