Seems like every boot I’ve listened to has one or the other or both. Thoughts?
Alive and Even Flow: Do we think they like to play them or feel obliged in concert?
QuestionsI've seen Dave Matthews band a couple times. Casual fan and mostly just their first three albums. They usually only play 3-4 songs all night I've heard of. I like them but it's not a great experience since I don't know their later stuff. Pearl Jam I'd have way less problem with it but if they just did nothing but non singles from their last few albums it probably wouldn't be great unless you're a mega fan.
Different bands and different audiences but you have to have a mix to satisfy the casual listeners and Alive and Even Flow are two of their biggest hits and still get played on radio today. They also get a huge reaction from the audience which I'm sure helps.
This is why Foo Fighters shows are so great for casual fans, and so boring for hardcore fans. They play the same exact setlist of hits, and 2-3 new songs.
Genuine question here, as I quite like FF but haven't seen them live too much until this year. I saw them at Boston Calling and Sea Hear Now this year and understand why the sets were pretty much identical: festival dates, new drummer, etc.
I'm wondering if next year as Josh gets more time to practice the setlists won't get more varied? I suspect yes because the Foos catalog is large like PJ. And while I like the later FF albums more, they have some great cuts across the entire discography.
Similar scenario for Smashing Pumpkins and Gaslight Anthem this year. More or less the same setlists every show with the exception of one or two tracks.
they played the same setlist night in and night out with Taylor as well if that’s any indication
Ok. I only saw them once before during the tour for Wasting Light so I don't have much experience. Still enjoyable to catch them but.bummed to hear.
