I'm 48. I don't exercise. I've been eating a plant-based diet (no meat, fish or chicken) for 27 years.

I like that idea a lot
Great idea, why not pass it to them?
Fully anonymized data shouldn’t be a problem.
Yes. This
lol HIPPA is something that exists between a medical doctor and a patient, Oura will never have HIPPA concerns 🤣
The Oura Ring is not subject in any way to HIPAA. What you sign in the TOS is the only thing protecting your data.
Not exactly. What protects you most is GDPR, but I agree HIPAA is not relevant.
Wow…. Im blown away. I’m -8 as a 28 year old and I thought I was doing well! This is crazy impressive
I’m +2 and thought that was great lolol
what is your diet? i need a switch up or some improvements cus im -2 at 25
diet always helps, however there’s always outliers. I have a pretty horrible diet (think like college student type of diet) a decent physically demanding job (some days 600-1000cal, others like 50 cal) and it says mine is -6 years (I’m 23) which I wasn’t expecting tbh, considering my disdain for cardiovascular exercises
That job probably helps keep your heart healthy and college campus walking is its own exercise!
vegetarian diet! No chicken, fish or red meat!
fuck youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Yesssss
How old are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 37 with a -7. Would love to get my heart back into its 20s haha
I don't mind :) I'm 48
They need to make a dating app for people of similar cardio age.
It would be flooded by dudes on blue pills
Let them fight!
Nice! We’re pretty close in heart age
Wow!!! Darn!! I honestly was disappointed with mine because I thought I was very healthy but I’m 35 with -4 👎👎
Yea I exercise, have good sleep scores. Have a V02 max of upper 40s, and somehow it only has me at -2. I'm 44. Sleeping HR is mid 40s, and daily resting HR is mid to low 50s. It doesn't make sense. I thought Id have better
I am 46, 5’9 and 206pounds (overweight) with v02 max at 36 and who is about to finish the couch to 5K program and I am al -4. I don’t think this is very exact or correct.
I’m -14 years as well! 50 yrs old.
Given my diet and exercise I expected to have a younger cardio age, but mine is +1. My first thought was that I should see a doctor!
I’m 26 and mine is +1.
So you have the arteries of a 27 year old! Sounds great to me and my 55-ish year old arteries!
Hahahaha makes sense!
Well done! Diet and exercise, not being overweight and not smoking seems to be important for decreasing arterial stiffness.
Do you mind sharing something about your lifestyle?
Similar. Diet and exercise is key. 120 oz of water a day. Very little alcohol.
can you expand a bit on your lifestyle?
Work out 5 days a week. 3 days of weight training, 2 days of Peleton 30 min HIIT classes. I eat chicken and fish, mostly. Lots of vegetables. No red meat. Almost no alcohol. 120 oz of water a day.
lol here I felt healthy ish that I was one year under 😂
I'm 46, my cardiovascular age is -10. I eat red meat, I eat a tin of sardines and tuna every other day. I have beer and wine a couple of times a month. I smoke cannabis a few times a week and do blow 3-4 times a year. Bedtime is between 9pm-10:30, I wake up between 5am-6:30am.
I workout 4-5 times a week. Bench 225lbs/102.6Kg Squat 315lbs/142.88Kg Deadlift 405lbs/183.7Kg
Height: 6.1'/185.3cm Weight: 180lbs/81.6Kg
I walk 10-15000 steps daily I swim .5 a km weekly
Profession: real estate and taxes Hobbies: e-commerce, getting pilot's license and sailing license
I take no medication, just water and a pinch of salt, potassium and magnesium.
Mine goes between -12 and -13
Excellent
can you expand a bit of your lifestyle?
No red meat, poultry, or chicken. Lately I have fish occasionally. I walk a lot; rarely depend on a car. I meditate most days.
thanks
While this kind of data is exciting and can be helpful in adjusting ones life to be healthier... I'm not sure how accurate the estimates are beyond a trend. Normal pulse wave velocity measurements require at least two points of measurements (one on wrist and one on finger, or some other combination). That way you can measure the distance between the two points and the speed between pulses to derive a velocity. I tried to find how Oura is calculating this value and from what I can tell, it's by looking at the slope of the PPG waveform. I'm sure they've done validation testing and generated some normative data, but I would take exact measurements with a healthy grain of salt.
Mine is -12 :) I’m 30f, no special diet and only do Pilates a few times a week
What is your PWV? Just curious:)
6.7 m/s
I didn’t even realize I can see the actual PWV number so I went to tap the cardio age. Thanks!
Damn and here I was feeling good about my -6…
can you expand a bit on your lifestyle?
Mine was -6 too. Went down to -5 last week. :(
What do you do to maintain your heart health?
I don't eat meat, fish or chicken and I use soy yogurt instead of dairy.
Plenty of vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and lentils, fruits and berries. 45 ml of olive oil every day. Alcohol rarely.
Cool! Thank you for sharing. What is your fitness routine like?
I don't have a fitness routine. I just walk a little. This year it's 10 115 steps a day.
That’s incredible. Great job maintaining your heart health! I’d love to see your vo2max results too once you complete the walking test
I trust Apples automatic walking test algorithm more. It says 39.1 currently.
Oura walking test showed 39 and then right after 41.
What is the relationship between heart age and vo2max? i am -3 years, 58 yo and vo2max of 40
No direct relationship between arterial stiffness and VO2max.
I was just purely curious to see what you got since you achieved such a good score on cardiovascular age. You should be proud of all the hard work you are putting in! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work 😊
Thank you for your encouraging words. I wish you the best of health :)
I saw a reference to a study saying HIIT is a good way to improve pulse wave velocity. Obviously you don’t need it 😄
I knew that red meat was bad but chicken also ?
Getting most of your protein from plants comes with heart healthy good poly- and monounsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals, fibers and phytochemicals.
You will find that in for example broccoli, nuts and lentil protein. But not in chicken. Chicken isn't a health food. It's less worse than eating four legged animals though.
The only animal with health benefits seems to be fish, especially fatty fish.
How many grams of protein do you think you’re hitting per day with broccoli, nuts, and beans?
About 100 g of protein a day. 40 g of those comes from pea protein powder that I put in the soy yogurt.
Sounds like some thickk yogurt haha. Any idea what your oxalate levels are?
I add water ofc :)
Why are you worried by oxalate? I´m a registered dietitian and I don´t have any condition that need me to pay any attention to oxalate.
I had a kidney stone 2 years ago.
Most nuts and beans are high oxalate so plant based isn’t viable for that reason alone for myself and the ~10-15% of the population that don’t process oxalates well.
Having been vegetarian and vegan before, just curious what oxalate levels you hit being plant based.
I have no idea. I´ve eaten high oxalate foods daily for 27 years so I process oxalate well.
Ooo give us diet example and how much you work out!!
I´ve answered that more detailed in the comments. A vegetarian diet with very little dairy products. I don´t work out I just walk 10 000 steps a day.
Ok thank you for your answer !
I'm +7 and 38 yrs old. I don't eat super healthy but I do have some meat and fish a few times a week and sweets every now and then. I drink like once every other month or quarter. I don't smoke. I run every other day at least 3 miles and my vo2 max is high/peak. I don't sleep the best tho. I avg 6 and half hours.
Sleep doesn't affect the elasticity of your arteries (Cardio Age).I average 6 hours and 3 min.
I am -4 at 32. But am currently pregnant, so I wonder if that influences these numbers in some way. Curious to see what they’ll be like after delivery & recovery.
Hmm ... many of us are envious. Can you tell us a little bit about your lifestyle, I think that would be interesting. As much as you're comfortable with sharing. Diet, exercise, sleep, stress .. that sort of stuff.
Sure.
I don´t do any structured exercise but I walk 10 115 steps daily on average. I sleep 6 hours and 3 min on average.
I don't eat meat, fish or chicken and I use soy yogurt instead of dairy. I´ve been eating plant-based the last 27 years.
Plenty of vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans and lentils, fruits and berries. 45 ml of olive oil every day. Alcohol rarely.
Thanks. This is very similar to my own way of living, but I'm a +1. Too much stress on my side. You're doing great.

Mines +14😀which is over half of my age😀😀(I’m only 24) what does this mean/ why is it so high
Do you smoke? Are you overweight? Eat lots of saturated animal fats, salt, sugar and take alcohol?
Not smoking does more for your health than all the exercise in the world.
Smoking makes your arteries more stiff = higher cardio age
sheeeeeeesh!
Working overnights. I was -3 when this first released, now I am -1..
Mine’s -5 and I’m chronically ill and I haven’t been able to exercise steadily in years. I like to think having POTS and standing up is basically the same as cardio except there’s much less effort involved.
I dropped from -7 to -8 which I loved but you got me beat! 35F
I’m -5 (M34). Does anyone how long does would it take en average to reach a -15 cardiovascular age ? Can it be like in 6 month or more like 5 years of be super healthy 100% of the time ? How does it work ? (Data, experiment, etc)
I've got - 13, 53yrs male, exercising every day either running or weight training. I eat meat and drink wine regularly. Blood pressure is quite low, to a point where I have to be careful, especially in the mornings.
What is your stress like? Do you have any anxiety issues?
Congrats!
Thank you! :)
I was -2 and now I'm -1. And I have no idea what to do about that.
All these people with negative numbers and I’m over here with +3.
Damn I’m 26 and have a -4 I thought I was doing well LOL congrats!!
Thanks :) Your heart is still very much younger than my 48 year old heart.
Mine is -13. 50F, walk a few times a week, Vegan for 20 years
These cardio ages are making me think no one has over their age
These cardio ages
Are making me think no one

I have +9 😩 Haven’t done the walking test though I am fat
I have +3 and I’m 31 :( thought I was fit, eat healthy and prioritize sleep. I’m not sure if I’m results are skewed though as I’ve only had it a few months and had some heart stressing activities / triggers take place…hoping to turn things around
I’m +14 at 24 yrs old. Idk why, I’m not at all overweight (I’m actually very underweight), workout (mix of cardio and weights) 4x a week, and my job keeps me super active .. I mean, I am a bit of an alcoholic but not like super heavy one (I’ve never had elevated liver enzymes or anything). Idk why it’s so bad
Alcohol is damaging to the endothelial layer, the artery walls and alcohol increase blood pressure.
That's partly why alcohol increase cardiovascular disease and probably why your body is aging faster.
True, but I don’t drink more than my peers. Granted, they don’t have oura rings lol
Yes, you need to get your high BP down to prevent future CVD and strokes.
Please stop drinking and find antihypertensive medications that work for you.
You can get a stroke anytime with untreated high BP. I wouldn't push it back.
That’s like stroke level high….
Yeah, with an enlarged aorta too, I'd be very concerned. u/poop_dealer007 is posting like a true 24 yo who doesn't believe something very bad really can happen to them.
I know!
People have posted their +(insert number) Cardio Age in this subreddit
Last week I was +1, but now school is out of session and I’m at +0. I’m kind of curious if my job is slowly killing me (I suspect it is) and what will happen over the next month and a half I have off. I’m also 21 weeks pregnant rn so that might be hurting my score a bit too. My lowest RHR now is 56-60, before I was pregnant it was usually around 48. HRV used to be 30 higher easily as well.
I do! Wait, I shouldn’t be excited that I could represent that population…
I’m +1 and I don’t smoke or drink. :(
I don’t even get a number weirdly. I just get “much below”. Who knows what that means???
Click it and share your pwv.
Sounds like you're off the charts.
Mine is 6.5 m/s….still no years this week just “Much below”
I’m a -24, it could be the sardines.
I get high cardio (-1 years off my age, I’m 25) but I have pericarditis and haven’t been able to run in over a year. Used to be a long distance runner
I'm +7.
I don't put much stock into it. I exercise daily.
Congrats! Well done.
Thank you! :)
Please share more about your diet, exercise habits so that we can soak up wisdom from you and try to improve ours :-). So glad for you. I am -3 on oura, initially -4 and it changed to -3 a few days after. Novice to that and supposedly I exercise a lot and eat clean but I am working hard on reducing stress.
Hi!
I´ve shared my diet, sleep and activity in the comments here.
I am trying the plant based diet too. I am fully ok without meat but I love cheese :-)…good for you. I will check comments above.
I am -2. I am a 36 yr old female. This inspires me to adjust my diet and get more movement in to improve my cardiovascular age! I also need to improve my sleep — average 6.5 hours per night on weekends and 7.5 on weekends. I also need to stop drinking — I have a drink a day.
The real question is has anyone ever gotten a score older than their age?
Yes, plenty of people get +2, +6, +8 or more years.
Very nice! I’m 28 and at -6.
-12 years and I'm 46 years old, 181cm and 97kg... pretty happy with my numbers. Do plenty of cardio through running and cycling....and a bit of swimming (I'm a terrible triathlete 😜)
They should create a ranking system where the most fit people get sent to testing to see if they can tolerate super serums that will create super soldiers to protect us in case of a war
Why does mine say it’s aligned for my age but then has a -5, any insight?
Aligned within + or - 5 years.
How do I even access this?
You have a gen3 ring with a subscription.
I’m +7 as a 28 year old F but do not exercise ever….I am however a nurse and walk a lot so not sure if that helps.
Amazing! I'm 34F, -9 years. No special diets. I work out 5-6 days a week, mostly Pilates, spinning and boxing.
I’m -2 (or -1 on a bad week). But I’ll take that over my recently acquired Garmin who said I’m +2.5 🫠
I hope to have some improvements on Garmin once it gets to know me better 😂
Just so you know, those are different scores. Garmin does not estimate arterial stiffness (Cardiovascular Age).
Garmin just estimate VO2max and turn that into what age you should be statistically.
Good to know! Thanks 😊
Wow!! Give us your routines?! Inspiring. I note no exercise and plant based. Do you also have stress reduction and sleep tips?
I write my feelings and thoughts in a diary almost daily. It's like a free therapist and stress reliever.
I don't think sleep influence arterial stiffness. I sleep on average 6 hours and 3 min (average over the 6 years I've had an Oura ring).
Yall, what am I doing wrong? I’m also 48. I have perfect blood pressure (usually on the low side.) I have never had to take blood pressure or cholesterol meds. The only issue I have is an under active thyroid and I take meds. I drink tons of water. I eat crazy healthy. Granted, my sleep is funky. I’m going through peri-menopause and have those symptoms. I’m a single mom of 3 kids and working a stressful job. Why am I PLUS 4 years? I said + 4 years. How do I fix this? lol. Feeling like a LOO-HOO-HOO-SER. I take care of myself (posting a pic only so you can see that and know I’m not eating pizza and smoking as I type this. lol.) I will say my HRV is chronically low and I don’t know why. Trying to work on that, Also! Any advice? (Ok, not sure it will let me post a pic!)
I’m 30 and -8. I thought this was interesting because I’m definitely overweight and don’t have the healthiest diet and don’t exercise regularly. I eat a pescatarian diet though, so wonder if that’s contributing to my “healthier” cardiovascular age.
I think it does
Nice! I thought mine was good, I’m 33 with -10.
I started out with -15y when the Cardio age stared, but each week the age gets a +1y and now i am at -10y... This happen to anyone?
Wow. If I start exercising it may get lower then
I have been exercising for a while... i thought it was because the ring was trying to adjust itself for something...
I am a 74 years old F and my score is -14. I started with -15. Not using any special diet, mostly vegetarian, sometimes fish. 2-3 times a week cardio and 2x a week yoga. Daily about 7000-8000 steps. My VO2 is ‘peak’. I hope I can keep the -14.
I wish you continuing good health!
NGL, I'm -1 and super happy about that. I suffered an....... usual complication during pregnancy 18 years ago that caused heart damage and now live in fear of when that damage is going to catch up to me and start causing issues. I fully expected to see +10 or more. I find the data this ring gives me to be so invaluable towards continuing to make the rate choices to protect my heart health and glad to see that what I've been doing so far seems to be working.
Yeah no way this is that accurate. I’m 31m, 18 BMI, exercise daily (activity scores in the 90s for months) and I eat a Mediterranean, non processed diet and make most of my own food. And my cardio age is +/- 0…
It's all about genes aswell as the rest , eating right sleep and so on but genes can triumph the rest.
Twin studies have shown that only 20% of longevity is governed by genes. So 80% of successful aging is in your own hands.
I’m selling a -8 on eBay if anyone is interested.
It would be cool if Oura would publish some statistics on the members with the lowest Cardiovascular age and what they have in common (weight, activity level and other biometrics).
I think they will do something like that eventually.
