What are these teams gonna do when they run out of room on the Ring of Fame?

Start another one directly underneath the first one.

Easy, they'll just stop signing good players so they won't have to put any more names

Perhaps they could redo the ring using a smaller font.

Go 3-dimensional and turn it into a sphere of fame

I can imagine bigger problems, like retiring 14 numbers.

Surprised no one has given the actual answer yet. The chiefs have changed it to the “Hall of Honor”. It’s in part of the stadium and has a bust for each player as well as a lot of memorabilia. Players inducted in the team hall of fame no longer get their names on the stadium, although I’m sure Mahomes and Kelce still will

Presumably they’d pull down all the names and either squeeze them closer together or change the font size so they can fit more.

Similar situation: After the 2017 season, University of Alabama had to completely tear up and reconfigure their entire “walk of champions” leading up to their stadium because they had run out of space to celebrate each championship.

Hopefully teams follow the commanders way of honoring players.

Lots of teams don't "retire" numbers. You can always add space to honor old players, you can even put the highest profile guys around the field on the wall and they will be front and center for games on TV.

Add another ring! Not sure how or where, but why not?

In Hockey with the Stanley Cup they just keep adding rings. When a ring fills up, the oldest ring is removed and sent to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto for display there and a new blank ring gets added to the bottom.

So after the Ring of Fame fills, and they want to add another name-- I could see them moving the oldest name on the ring to a new place of honor to make room for someone new. The classics would still be on display, albeit in a different location/locations.

Have someone embroiled in a scandal so you can take them off and put someone else on....just an idea.

Probably put it on a wall in stadium and just leave the ones outside for those guys

Probably the same thing when they run out of room on the Stanley Cup. Make a new ring.

Just have the actual retired players do "Hands Across America" around the field every game. They're much smaller than the signs.

New stadium might solve a lot of this if they plan for it.

Probably do a bit of renovating and just make the top row smaller and start a 2nd row. That is if the chiefs cheap owner is willing to front the bill

Pick out the top 3, set them slightly higher, and call it "The Triangle of Supreme Excellence". Then next time a player joins the ring of fame, it becomes a Square of Supreme Excellence. We can take this baby all the way up to a hectagon.

Man can send a rocket to the moon, but this... this problem is, quite frankly, insurmountable. 

They'll tell their cities they need to build them new taxpayer-funded ones, obviously.

Well for the Chiefs they’ll be in a new stadium before too much longer so they’ll just make a bigger ring of honor.

We also have an issue when it comes to retiring numbers. The only number I see is retiring is the foreseeable future is Mahomes’. 

As great as Kelce has been, retiring his number would cause logistical issues.

The Ravens Ring of Honor has gone through a few visual changes over the years. I'm sure other teams will do similar things, if needed.

Probably hire some contractors to redesign the thing

The AWS Amazon cloud server, searchable database of honor. Whip out your phone scan the QR code on the Doritos Cool Ranch stadium ring. And a virtual library of honor will come up like a James Cameron special FX.

My concern is more of the retired numbers. The Giants have like 3 numbers in the top 10 that are completely ineligible for new players to wear, because some farmer wore the number in 1940

Kinda like the Yankees and Monument Park, it’ll go to a special part of the stadium fans can walk through highlighting the great players to play for said team

This is another reason they need a new stadium.

They build another ring at the top of the stadium and the stadium gets taller. And then when that one fills up they do it again.

Actually the Steelers have only retired 3 numbers, one is the greatest player to ever play for them. The other 2 are dead, no one wears a lot of the famous players numbers now. But unless your name is Joe Greene the Steelers probably aren't retiring your number unless you die.

What happens when they retire all the numbers?

Players numbers will become alphanumeric

Demand the taxpayers build them a new stadium

Throw the other one in the fires of Mount Doom

Regarding your edit, people are bringing it up because, at least in the Packers case, the players names along the ring represent retired numbers.

In Arrowhead’s case, they will likely build a new stadium before the spots fill up.

A digital display would make sense or they could resize them to create more space.

Let's just do what myspace pioneered 20 years ago.

Cap any retired numbers and ring of honors to a top 8. If someone supplants you, your number is unretired, and your name is pulled off the stadium.
