Mine is You’re Still the One by Shania Twain My wife and I agree that it perfectly captures our feelings about 35 great years of marriage that just keep getting better.
Every time Robert Smith sings about love my heart melts
Unchained melody - the righteous brothers
John Prine and Iris Demint - In Spite Of Ourselves
That's not a song about swooning teenagers. That's a song for old people who have been in love for decades. It's so good.
I love this song! So sweet.
I feel like John Prine is posthumously getting credit he deserved as an artist.. do you have that sense too? It may just be theory of relevance at work but if more people are discovering him, I’m glad!
I love this song so much. Good choice
Foreigner - Waiting For A Girl Like You
The Police - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

First Day of My Life- Bright Eyes 💛🫠
Sugaree - Jerry Garcia
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark. It makes me tear up. Just the guitar and the vocals, nothing else. Those lyrics hit hard.
(Everything I Do) I Do it for You - Bryan Adams
The Air That I Breathe - The Hollies
Listened to this yesterday about 5 times!! Love it
Jim Croce-"I'll have to say I love you in a song"
Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
It just moves me in a very deep way. Rather than just focusing on a specific one on one relationship its more about a universal love vibe. It makes me smile every time.
As - Stevie Wonder
The lyrics are just so sweet!
My favorite Stevie song from my favorite Stevie album. It's a gorgeous song.
From one of the best albums ever
I’ve been listening to:
The Promise by Tracy Chapman I’ll Stand By You by The Pretenders Let Her Be by Hootie and the Blowfish
They’re all very sad love songs.
The Promise reminds me of my first boyfriend
The Book of Love by Magnetic Fields. It was our first dance.
It has to be that version, because it’s sung with a matter-of-fact nature that belies the poignancy of the lyric.
Ugh yes I've adored this song since middle school.
Lovesong - The Cure
Your Song - Elton John
First time ever I saw your face.
Makes me think of the day I gave birth to my two babies. Love this song!
Harvest Moon - Neil Young.
Beautifully simple yet simply beautiful. Have to mention the cover by Foxes and Fossils.
Bjork - "Hidden Place"; https://youtu.be/UDK3qB4_Brc?si=sRg7kWeuo_rEhEWW
For me it's Jóga... esp this cover: https://youtu.be/OKPC-T3jjRg?si=0Z9dA4JHMxpOlCgN
Otis Redding's 'Cigarettes and Coffee' - simple, raw, unadorned song about simple and unadorned love.
Can listen here 🤗
"And honey won't you just let me
Build my whole life around you."
Chaka Kahn - Ain’t Nobody/ Prince - I wanna be your lover/ Dr Hook - Sharing the night together/ Leo Sayer - When I need you/ Aretha Franklin - You are all I need 😏
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack
Mine is 'Insatiable' by Darren Hayes, because of it‘s uniqueness being a love song from a male perspective about vulnerability and the fragility of being in love.
It’s so hard to pick a favorite but I might go with:
Giving You The Best That I Got - Anita Baker
It’s not overly sentimental (though it’s from the eighties so it’s got a little cheese thrown in lol) but it rings sincere and true!
I love Anita Baker
Hey Leonardo by Blessed union
I Love You by Climax Blues Band
Still Loving You - Scorpions
Just a great song regardless of subject
Modern English - id stop the world and melt with you.
I wont dedicate it to any love ive had to not tarnish the song
Fade Into You (interpretations be damned), Maybe It was Memphis, This Must Be the Place (Talking Heads), and (unironically) Islands in the Stream
Still Remains by STP…it oozes sex and infinite love…
I will always love you by Whitney Houston
its just a great cover and beautiful song simple and just wants you to belt it out as well
The Power of Love. My husband and I went to see HL& the news on our first date.
In My Life - The Beatles.
Jonathan Brenner - Key to My Heart
Im probably biased, but my favorite love song is the one I wrote for my girl Im in Love
The Luckiest by Ben Folds
Too many to list!! Currently listening to Snow Patrol, specifically Run. It gives LDR vibes but also something deeper, borderline dire... it's a good one 👌
Baby Got Back
Depending on whether it counts as a love song, “Downtown Train” by Tom Waits. Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.
"Keep Me" - Novo Amor
Out The Blue by John Lennon
The piano jam is absolutely beautiful and also because he says:
“All my life’s been a long slow knife
I was born just to get to you
Anyways I survived
Long enough to make you my wife”
These words always hit me considering Lennon was murdered at 40. It’s almost like at this point he knew he wouldnt live love
One valentines day in high school I went around asking this question. The only answers I can remember are "If We Were Vampires" by Jason Isbell and "3005" by Childish Gambino.
"This Must Be The Place" by The Talking Heads is the song that taught me what to expect when falling in love
ETA: Sondheim's "Being Alive" also gave me a lesson in what loving someone looks like.
Annie Lennox - love song for a vampire
It just brings back memories of being younger and having your first love… and then heartbreak.
Closer by Nine Inch Nails. What can I say? I’m a realist.
Bridge over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel. It figuratively describes a certain level of self-sacrifice offered to someone who may be at their lowest point in life.
I hate love songs.
GWAR
Good to know
It’s a country song from the late 1970s by Jerry Reed I love you, what can I say? In 45 years of marriage it’s hasn’t grown old!
Honestly, Benji Hughes has several brilliant love songs. Crazy For You is possibly his greatest, but I am equally partial to All You Got To Do Is Fall In Love. Benji sang it for my wife over Zoom on her birthday during covid lockdown. https://youtu.be/8hVmHWTy-0M?si=VQYCUMyMLXwLoko7
To Love is to Bury - Cowboy Junkies
With You - from the Broadway musical Pippin.
1952 Vincent Black Lightning-Richard Thompson
I Gotcha by Joe Tex
SJ Tucker - To My Valentine
It's such a comfortable, warm view of love. <3
All of me-John Legend
It’s always been one of favorites since I was a kid
John Mellencamp-Key West Internezzo(I saw you first).
Highly underrated,IMHO. Who doesn’t recall the first time they saw that Special someone? I know I do🤙🏽
Please Forgive Me - David Gray. Most of his catalog really.
Daisy Bell or Bicycle Built For Two. It was the first song to be sung by a computer. I hold a deep gratitude to the scientists who conducted this experiment (John Larry Kelly jr. and Max Matthews). Without them, my life would have no meaning and I would be stuck in some boring office job or working as a janitor with no ambition in my life. It moves me to tears whenever I hear it.
Künstliche Welten- Wolfsheim. Especially the version they did with the Prague Philharmonic
The lyrics are better in German but are still sweet translated into English
Hold U - Indigo de Souza
More of You ~ MAGIC! Bc it’s easy on guitar and is lovely
Your Song - Elton John. It's been my fav since I can remember 🖤
This must be the place – Talking Heads it just has such a beautiful lyrics. It speaks to how I see love
“ and you’re standing here beside me. I love the passing of time.”
“ I can’t tell one from another did I find you or you find me?”
“ of all those kinds of people you have a face with a view”
“ and you love you till my heart stops. Love me till I’m dead.”
A Song For You - Donny Hathaway
The lyrics are simple but beautiful. There are other versions of this song - it belongs to Leon Russell - but Donny's, IMO, is head and shoulders above every other version.
Donny had a voice like none other. You can hear the emotion of the song in every word he sings. He was amazing, and sadly, we lost him entirely too soon.
Annie’s Song by John Denver, it’s just so well written and very sweet
Lana Del Rey - video games
Car’s Outside
as of right now? I Wanna Be Yours by AM
311 - love song..just because 😅
Broken wings by flyleaf. Shit hits fr.
The Nurse Who Loved Me - Failure, covered by A Perfect Circle
A Case of You by Joni Mitchell
I actually really enjoy Forever and For Always by Shania Twain.
Your Song by Elton John and the slow version of This Old Heart of Mine by Rod Stewart because one of my favorite memories is my wife laying on me singing along with them to me while we were crazy high on psychedelics.
The trip deserves some credit, but it was easily the most beautiful thing I had ever seen or heard… IYKYK
Tchaikovsky's 'Love Theme From Romeo and Juliet'
Right now it's "Adore" by Prince.
It has the message that I believe in, if your spouse dies, and you truly, truly loved them, you wouldn’t find someone else, “It’ll only ever be you and me” The song makes me cry, I love it so much
Easy (cover) by faith no more
Björk's Unravel. It's a simple song but lyrically beautiful. The idea of having to make new love each time you see your person.
Just Like Heaven by The Cure
