Was the marshal putting his hand to his ear after they passed by, “Yeah, my ears are bleeding now”.
Weird set of circumstances that led to this but you have to think that would never happen today. They're basically doing a regular race start but stacked together and in a tight pit-lane with marshalls around. So unsafe.
Ah yes, the race that busted my pit lane start detection algorithm. Crazy shit, and honestly looks more than a bit dangerous. I wonder if it prompted any rule changes or if it could theoretically happen again in the next race.
They have to start further back on the grid now.
There are more slots than bikes, so they line up with the person in last at the very last slot and so on forward.
Happened in Argentina 2018, Miller was on Pole and didn't change, which made for a bit of a meme picture.
A similar thing happened in F1 at Hungary 2021, after a huge crash on the first lap the race was red flagged, during the warm up lap everybody realised it had dried out so changed tyres, except Hamilton who was on Pole (same as Miller).
However in F1 they can start from pitlane, single file so only Hamilton was on the grid.
Starting from further back on the grid like back in Argentina 2018 is not actually the rule lol, they just had to do it because the riders didn't follow the correct rules back then.
the rule according to FIM regulations:
"MotoGP riders who make weather-related tyre changes after the pit lane exit has closed will start the warm up lap from pit lane, take their qualifying grid position and serve a ride through penalty within the first 3 laps of the race."
Actually, that isn't what happened that weekend. They followed the rules exactly as it is.
They changed the rules immediately afterwards to what it is now.

They changed rules but don't recall atm to which exactly.
Why did this happen?
Iirc everyone was on their rain setup but the track was drying up at the start. So everyon except for Bradl swapped bike after the formation lap. I was there at the track. It was awesome having a German lead the German GP. It was short lived though. Bradl finished in 16 and everyone who swapped bikes made the right call.
Bradl had a kind of dry bike. lcr didn't have time to make enough changes on the grid so it ended up half way between wet and dry but with dry tyres. I seem to remember them saying that the suspension was too soft and that's why the full dry bikes were so much faster.
I think the thing that slowed him the most was the steel discs.
If you’ve ever been that close to a race start, it’s painfully loud, even through earplugs.
If you think it’s loud from the grandstands, it’s way, way louder up close.
This was madness! Love it
I mean, that is fucking stupid. Imagine someone stalling there.
hell yeah this is the kind of footage I love seeing bangers
Reminds me of the F1 race where Hamilton was the only one re-starting on the grid.
Absolutely chaotic, literally no any order
Still 93 & 46 are 1-2
This was the reason for the Argentina debacle.
Stewards and race control were paid for letting that happen. Unbelievable they couldn’t have figured out some bad stuff could easily have happened.
Which is why they organised the grid as the did in Argentina 2018 but fans denounce that as 'unfair'
