My window seat on the plane I paid extra for
Wdym. If it's a Boeing it's gonna pop open automatically. So you can enjoy the fresh air and great view, as you plummet to the ground
Just don’t tell anyone it was Boeing and you should be fine
Actually, telling people that will ensure you'll get rescued midfall as Boeing will need you to send a message.
“In the event of an emergency, our whistleblowers can be used as a floatation device”
ouch!
Fun fact: BOEING is also the noise the door makes as it pops open
Fun fact: BOEING is also the noise you would make when you hit the ground if you were a cartoon. In real life, however, you are more likely to make a SPLAT.
Though of course you’ll be long dead before that. Not enough oxygen at cruising height. Also not much pressure.
Fun fact: BOEING is also the noise coming from the CEO of Boeing’s pants when you didn’t survive the fall and he can delete evidence that you were on the flight at all.
This really tickled me.
Much like the vacuum pressure releasing from your skull as the door pops open.
Keep your seatbelt on at all times
And go hurtling down strapped to the chair……… at least it’ll cushion the impact…… to an extent!
If you're going to blow the whistle like that, watch your back. Boeing doesn't take kindly to people like you.
More like watch the back of your head for magical entrance/exit holes
You should use seat belt.
Yeah, wouldn't want to fall out of your seat as it gets sucked out of the plane.
Yeah if the door blows open due to negligence then I wouldn’t trust the seat belt much either
Looks down. * seatbelt magically becomes a comically large shoe lace *
it's untied
Looks up to see a plane the size of that model airplane you made as a kid………
Boing!
Ah fancy, a sliding window
Full length open-air window! So refreshing!
Boeing gotta make lemonade somehow, so I guess they're going with "It's a feature, not a bug."
Biggest window in that whole section, btw.
Which airline?
delta
Looks like you got Delta bad hand.
mf waited his entire life for this one moment
I like how you seized the window of opportunity.
I think he planed that one ahead of time.
Was that a pun?
Yeah, but it was kind of a plane one.
One might say it had a bad landing
Didn’t really take off
Just flew right over their head
The joke just didn't land.
I hate you
I flew right into that hatred.
I’ve never missed awards more
Lmfao 😂
You peaked. Now u can die a happy person.
Bastard
AYEEEEEEEE
HAHAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
I won't fly delta after the last time they almost killed me. Poor maintenance led to our flaps being stuck in the lift position on one side. Luckily, we had a good pilot. He dumped our fuel in the English Channel and didn't turn us into a fireball at the end.
"flaps being stuck in the lift position" not sure what you mean by that...
Seatguru stopped updating their info after being bought out by TripAdvisor last year.
Better replacements are https://www.aerolopa.com/ or seatmaps.com.
That's great advice, I didn't know that. I'll add those to my list.
Ya, great site.
Had this happen before on Delta, contacted them afterwards and they gave me a few thousand miles in return.
Damn, Delta is usually one of the good ones
Exact same thing happened to me the last time I flew Delta. I pay extra to have the window bc I get super anxious. This did not help.
What did you pay extra for
This can happen on virtually any airline, which is why most of them call it a ‘bulkhead’ seat
Can't be Ryanair at least, they would have already made fun of them on their socials for complaining.
as they should when people buy 14€ flights
Cheap prices aren't an excuse for not providing the service you paid for lol
Cheap prices aren't an excuse for not providing the service you paid for lol
Ryanair Chief of Public Relations: "Did it land? Then shut the fuck up"
"It didn't land? Well, fuck you anyway"
that‘s not what I approve of, but the making fun of them on twitter is
you didn't pay for a window seat, it's an exclusive door seat, you can open the door and get off right away without having to go through the time-wasting airport
It's a big time saver if the flight path goes over your house, you can just pop it open and jump down.
Saves the airport hassle and the commute!
I love Reddit—I always learn something.
I had no idea about that. I just boarded my flight in the same situation. I really hate airports; they give me anxiety. I feel a bit more relaxed about after we land now knowing I can just hoof it through the door.
Thanks for that. I’d give you gold if I could.
I would ask for any other advice but I’m supposed to put in airplane mode now so I won’t see it until we land. Wish me luck!!
...and the ill-fated flight carrying JerkfaceMcDouche dropped off the radar and was never found.
you can open the door and get off right away without having to go through the time-wasting airport
Bonus! it also comes with it's own slide! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE! fun for the kids!
Thats the new Early Deplaning feature. You can open it up at any point and exit when you want or don’t want. Guarantee of surviving landing not included.
The window is there in Spirit.
Bars
Ohhhh just wait to you reach cruising altitude the door plug ‘panoramic window’ will open automatically 😂
That's exclusively a Boeing feature.
Now I think the small print says you’re paying extra for sitting in the window row *may not include actual window. Am I right?
Because I’d complain about this.
it was a full flight so the best they could do would be to put me on a new flight but i was traveling with family. it was disappointing but i didn’t make a fuss. it was just mildly infuriating
Remember, they don’t give a single damn about you. If you want to be valued and respected as their customer you unfortunately have to make a fuss. But you can do so in a respectful way that will gain their respect.
“Hi, I paid for a window seat and the website/app clearly showed a window was here. However once on the plane there was no window. I love seeing outside when I fly, I paid extra for this. What can we do? I don’t feel like I can trust your website/app.”
Or some mix on that. This isn’t nasty or a huge fuss, you’re asking a question after explaining a situation.
Here is where the customer service agent, if you’ve respected them, can feel for you and offer something.
If they don’t then ask for supervisor but make sure to thank them for their time.
If they start to get smart with you and claim they don’t have a manager then hang up and try this again with a new person. Some support folks are so bitter they can’t see straight, you can’t fix this, they may even hang up on you.
That sounds whiny.
Just say, “I paid extra and I don’t have time to go on another flight.” What can we do to make this right?”
I'm not really understanding the "what can we do" question. Be polite and say, I paid for a window seat and didn't get a window so I'll need the difference refunded, please.
Just in case they offer you something better. If not just ask for the difference.
Say you paid for it because you get motion sick without being able to look out a window. So you paid extra and still got sick.
Delta doesn't have a window seat option so OP is trolling or misunderstood what she was paying extra for.
Contact Delta customer service. You may be able to get a refund for the seat assignment fee. Mention how unhappy and upset you are because of this. Best is normally using Twitter/X (the response is typically fastest, and the Delta social media team has more authority than customer service agents). I'd try both. Good luck.
If they don't budge, try again.
the actual hack for this would be to tell them you don't want the responsibility of taking the door seat. iirc they must ask the people in that row because most the time if it crashes, they're the ones that have to pop open the emergency door and assist others
that’s the row behind mine
damn unlucky.....
Yes, it's due to it being a window row and the added leg room. I often get this seat just for the leg room. I don't mind not having a window. What bothers me about that seat is the lack of a cup holder our somewhere to put your stuff.
You don't pay extra for the window. That's not how any of this works. It's the entire exit row that costs more. The exit row seats cost extra because they have an additional half foot of leg room so people can get out if there is an emergency.
Next time consult a seat map. Some aircraft have ac ducts running from under the floor to over the ceiling, they sacrifice one such window to run said ductwork. Some like in your case will install a seat row next to an emergency exit, the door frame doesn’t allow for an additional window.
i’ve learned my lesson lol
Then why do they label it a window seat? That’s false advertising
That's just effort
I’d rather have leg room than a window!
i don’t need leg room, im 5’0 😭 i just wanted my window!
Man, when I travel with my wife she tucks herself up onto a ball on the seat, meanwhile my knees are jammed up against the seat in front of me
My ex is 6’8”. He would always joke that his knees were resting in with the pilot while I was peaceful with room to spare.
He drives a tiny fucking car, too, that makes ME feel cramped but he’s all happy with his knees in his eyes. Thank all the godz he doesn’t drive stick (won’t let him drive my car). Don’t know how he could be
Better tighten your seat belts
That is not an acceptable window.
Probably in my top 10 worst windows I’ve ever seen. Top being the windows of opportunity I never seized 😞
Exactly. In this instance it's clear that the wall isn't. Thus it doesn't even make the list of adequate windows.
You’re clearly the expert and I’m here to learn.
Look at that leg room.
it means nothing when ur 5 feet tall 😔
Lol.. true still you can get up and stretch .
Next time, look up the plane You're flying on using this website https://www.aerolopa.com/. It shows you the seat layout with the window layout.
You just have to open that door to view the outside. /s
Don't worry, it'll open automatically
For self-protection purposes this a joke
What airline charges more for a window seat? I’ve only ever seen a price difference for the isle you pick
I'm guessing the "paid extra" is referring to paying to pick her seat. She thought she chose a window seat, but....😂
Yeah.. Delta definitely doesn't charge extra for a window.. just extra leg room or a seat closer to the front
In a sense they do - a "preferred seat" in of the window (or aisle) vs. a middle in the exact same row costs more because it's a window. See how the blue seat has the cost associated but the white seat next to it is no extra cost. I personally hate this policy. Main cabin should be the same cost across the board and first come first serve.
Just dealt with this. I originally booked main cabin. They wanted over $100 each way to sit in a "preferred seat". I rebooked into Comfort+ for only $80 round trip.
Exactly. Delta does not charge for window seats.
They charge for Comfort+ and Exit rows.
Shes sitting in an exit row, so she paid more (not for the window, the leg room).
All the other isle and window seats were probably taken in main economy.
Source: I live on airplanes (fly multiple times a week).
Did you get extra legroom with it? It looks like you have some good space.
How’d you get through the metal detectors??
Thanks
Your pout seems to express your delight at this situation so perfectly that I laughed in camaraderie.
Either that, or whoever was sitting next to you rather unwisely asked if you were enjoying your 'window' seat.
i was excited to board the plane knowing my seat was A12. my smile slowly faded as i approached my seat counting the passing rows. my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined.
Ah young one, wait until you're my age and every day is a disappointment.
Get up, head to the bathroom, see my face in the mirror. Disappointment.
At least it's usually not downhill from there.
i don’t know man, it seems like it already
Or they happen to be carrying a large magnet.
Since when does Delta charge extra for a window seat? I’ve booked with them a few times with assigned seating, and those seats have never been extra.
For me would be worth it I hardly can get into other seats with my height
Contact card company - dispute as “what I paid isn’t as described” they ask how, you say “windowless window seat” - boom, free flight.
This happened to me on the way to Costa Rica! I was so fucking pissed…
If you sent this to Delta and proof you paid extra for a window seat, they will likely reimburse you or even give you a free flight or upgrade to 1st class.
Did you say anything to the flight attendant?
No, she wasn't even the ticket purchaser. Family paid. Weird post.
Boy, I hope you posting this doesn’t classify you as a ‘whistleblower.’
So not only did you not get a window but there was someone sitting pouting in your seat. Disgraceful.
Lpt: always use SeatGuru before paying for a seat. Don't always trust the airline map in their website. If they Don't show the same alignment, there might be a discrepancy on the aircraft used for the flight you're buying to.
This deserves exposure: You need to tell how you booked this ticket, as it depends on if it’s a website mistake, or if it was a human error, so: Which airline lied on their website, or in their call center? How much EXTRA did you pay for this WINDOW SEAT?
Flying is the most demeaning and stressful experience
I watched an 80+ year old woman forced out of her wheelchair to walk through a metal detector three times while a TSA power tripping person yelled at her over and over about whether or not she had metal in her body last week in Phoenix
It was so dehumanizing and terrible
But you can’t say a fucking thing because the candy crush cops will never let you get on your flight unless you’re completely submissive to their performative theater
I’ve upgraded to first class, the rapid check, have enhanced ID, passport card, barely carry a thing with me
But no, the blue shirts are there to make sure you kiss the boot
The TSA is a fucking joke. Security pagentry at it's finest.
they took my 6 year old’s wheelchair w/ power wheels completely apart, broke it, and caused us to miss our flight.
I was at O'Hare at like 6 am after a missed connection and this fucker was screaming at everyone thay they better not try anything because he used to be in the army and it's like dude, shut the fuck up no one's trying anything
No you don’t.
Goth is really making a comeback.
I assumed it never left.
You paid extra for more leg room in an exit row.
It could be a window any moment
Boeing has entered the chat…
How'd they let you past the metal detector
i boofed them
Hopefully you at least rinsed them off
I've never had problems with all my body piercings. The metal content in the jewelry isn't enough to set off the detectors.
how much you paid extra?
Turns out that wasn't a window seat, they just forgot to install the interior over the door plug.
I’ve never been charged for picking a seat that was empty before I picked it. That a new thing now?
Don't you get to pick your seat when you order on line. The last 3 times I flew I picked the seat so no issues.
I think it's extra compared to the middle row. No airlines are charging extra for an actual window.
You’re complaining about extended leg room? Most planes make you close your window in flight anymore anyways.
It opens, but only once.
Is this rage bait because Delta doesn't have the option to pay for a window seat.. did you look at the map and assume the seat you chose was a window seat?
This is why I use seat guru
You paid for leg room. Tall people matter
you probably just paid for the extra legroom
Obligatory seat guru link shows which window seats don't actually have a window
I’m sorry to laugh but the look on your face perfectly encapsulates your feelings. I knew what this was posted to before I read your comment or saw the community.
Definitely contact customer service when you land. Tell them you paid for a window and did not receive one, politely request the difference be refunded to you for the inconvenience.
Good news! They probably forgot to put all the bolts in, so it will sort itself out mid flight
Did You bipbip at the metal control door lol ?
Well, I mean, it has the potential to be a window seat. Just gotta remove some side panel first.
The way planes are falling apart lately, I'd pay extra to be in the middle!
Contact them for a partial refund. If they refuse, use this pic as proof when you dispute it with your credit card.
Make sure to check the seating chart when you pay extra for a seat.
You choose the seat
Exit rows are clearly marked as such when you choose the seat. It costs more bc there’s more leg room. Not bc of a window.
This happened to me on march break man I was pissed off. But of course I was polite about my annoyance because being rudes gets fuck all.
Don’t worry. Window will appear at 15,000 feet.
Get some miles or something. That is ridiculous.
I’ve never seen an airline make you pay extra for a window seat?
Give it time it'll be a window
Damn you are pretty!
Use SeatGuru to check your seat location before booking. It’s free.
That's not a window, that's a hot chick with cute glasses. Looks like you got a good deal.
I booked that exact same row a few weeks ago, not knowing it didn’t have a window (and seat didn’t recline due to exit row behind). My 3yo daughter was thoroughly disappointed as I hyped up how cool it’ll be to look out the window the whole flight. Lesson learned.
As someone who is tall and flies often, you actually get more legroom with a window seat. Its easier to fold your legs against the plane wall than it is against another leg spaces (middle) and risking having your leg get trampled by passerbys and the service cart (isle)
Windows Vista
Seems to me you should make some noise (not literally).you should get a refund or ticket. Good luck
I guess if you squint through the crack hard enough you can see something
Next time, try to use AeroLOPA to see the seat map of your aircraft type. The website has reviews on each seat, and it tells you which seats are missing a window.
Use SeatGuru to search for your flight and find out the aircraft configuration that will be used on your flight. Then use that info to find the seatmap on AeroLOPA.
SeatGuru's seatmaps are outdated, so they may not be accurate.
How did you get through metalldetector?
Damn don't go near a magnet
I am sorry, but those pierecings! :(
If it’s a Boeing, it doesn’t become a window seat until takeoff.
How did you get through the metal detector?
Looks like 12A on Delta A321. I’ve sat here before and can confirm it is not a good seat…especially for c+. No window and seat is like 2” narrower bc of the exit door. I believe 12F is the same.
If its a Boeing it may have an extra special window
That’s the Boeing special, enjoy
You don’t pay extra for a window seat.
You paid extra for the leg room not the window 💀
If its a Boeing, the window will appear after take off
You’d look all much better without the piercings
Weird how this was not a post about her appearance at all, yet you found some need to give your opinion on it.
Why need a window when you have a full size door beside you🤗 /s
there was a tiny peep hole i could see out of if i fully reclined my seat but it wasn’t comfortable at all. hopefully on my return flight, it’ll be different
If that is a Boeing plane, the window appears shortly after takeoff.
This post is saying "I'm ignorant," and is not a "woe is me@ post. One, Delta doesn't charge extra for a window seat. Two, you can actually find out if the seat you chose has a window or not. So, all this post is saying is "I don't know what I'm doing and I want to complain about it."
Is it a boeing? You’ll get the biggest window on the plane.
This reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction.
You just gotta pop that latch door behind you.
