The name brand stuff has really exploded in price. Store brand stuff has gone up, but not by enough to change my spending habits. Local stuff seems to be fine. There have been a few blips, like that time eggs jumped in price for a while with that whole chicken die-off.
I think it's disingenuous to blame it on a US President or even just one branch of the national government when there are so many factors at work. Corporations feel like they can get away with anything, and have mostly been proven correct. That isn't a partisan thing, that's a late stage capitalism thing. Even without corporate greed-- In 2021, the top five states for food production were California, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, and Minnesota. Shipping costs could have changed, water rights have been changed and finding workers is more difficult.
