Recently purchased this book and finished preface.
Curious what takeaways anyone had from it before I dive into the next 450 pages. It was highly recommended but is going in the opposite direction I anticipated.
Not mad about just seeking additional perspective.
Thanks!
Not my favorite book either. But there is no one book that will turn anyone into the leader. They want to be, in my opinion.
I have been in leadership for over 40 years and what I can tell you is that there are certain qualities that many good leaders share and one of them is reading.
I have been in a leadership roundtable for over a decade with about 15 other leaders from my industry. They’re only a couple of us that have been there the entire time, some come, some leave, and for a variety of reasons.
One of the other original members strives to read two bucks a month. he has developed a lot of good leaders on his team and they all read. Another new member, who is skyrocketing to success, tries to read four books a month. Both of these guys are extremely wealthy and started with nothing.
If you can read a book and get one great idea from it, it was worth your time.
My current book, which be done with in a few days, but will spend probably the next month on with my team, is “extreme ownership” by Jocko Willnick.
My team would not have been mature enough to read that six months ago. There is always the issues of having a good message and the audience being ready to hear that message.
