The felony tends to have less impact when it reeks of political persecution. Indeed, blatant political persecutions tend to have the opposite effect in a still free society.
The left has been telling us for decades that the criminal justice system is rigged and biased and not concerned with actual justice, that certain people aren’t able to get a fair trial that it’s all about the people in power keeping down those who aren’t.
