Ok thank you I will definitely be listening to some Insane Clown Posse today
I did this and basked in the first 4 albums for a few weeks before moving on. Was loving Riddlebox. I felt a huge dip in quality once I got to Jeckel Brothers and then after listening to Bazaar I said that’s enough. I’m disappointed but based on that, am I making a mistake or is it just not for me? I will probably listen to Wizard of the Hood, Hells Pit and The Wraith still
Wizard of the hood is a bop 10/10
I personally love some of their 'hated' releases. Bizarre bazaar has some amazing tracks. I love most of the Calm, the Tempest is hit or miss for me, depending on my mood. Everyone has different tastes.
If you haven’t listened to wizard of the hood you need to
That's a strong second, front to back masterpiece right there
Shits better than the movie whoop! whoop!
Yea I’ve heard people talk about it I will try it. Thank You!
Bang Pow Boom is actually good, same with Mighty Death Pop. Can’t say the same for the other ones. Listen to Dark Lotus and Twiztid.
I second everything in this comment. Bang Pow Boom Nuclear especially is one of my faves
Nuclear was one of my intros to the clowns. Used to roll through the store with "to catch a predator" bumping.
Riddle box was and will be my album forever. Even flew rags in those colors.
Omg, I’ve said it on this subreddit before but Juggalo Island is my bop this summer lmao Riddlebox was my intro way back in middle school (about ‘07/‘08), it’s my second fave. I feel like such an odd one out because The Great Milenko is hands down my favorite album lol
Milenko was my intro to the wicked clowns. I know every fucking word to every song on that album. I feel this was peak ICP.
Milenko for sure has all the bangers but riddlebox has a special place in my heart.
For sure get that, everyone loves Riddlebox. My fave ICP song is on it - Cemetery Girl
Death Pop fuckin bangs
It really depends on who you ask. I loved their music for about 20 years, I like everything I've heard so far. Other people don't like the new stuff.
It's like an entirely different sound once u get past amazing jeckel bros.
Split with Mike Clark was shortly there after
Personally I think the newer stuff they have released is great, the Yum Yum Bedlam and Lure albums are really good.
I agree
everything from Hells Pit and previous.
I find the music peaked between Riddle box - Jeckel brothers, and then you have a strong decline in quality on the most part. This was due significantly due to the departure of their producer Mike e Clark who was responsible for their sound. This of course is my opinion and you may well find you love the later music.
I’ll never understand people that like AJB more than any of the 7 studio albums following it, but MCL anyway.
Yeah I get you, I guess it was just my age at the time, I think it was the first album I heard of theirs actually.
For sure, I mean you’re certainly not alone, AJB is incredibly well liked. I really love about 5-6 songs from it but actively dislike a few others which isn’t the case for most of their albums so that’s why I put it lower, but it’s certainly not a bad album.
Fred fury is hands down my favorite album from the second deck. Yum yum was solid
Bang Pow Boom and Might Death Pop are considered some of their best albums
Marvelous Missing Link is great, especially the outtakes
Fearless Fred Fury is amazing
Yum Yum's Bedlam is awesome
And the seeds (Wicked Vic, Pug Ugly, and Woh), the first 2 are great the second one is meh
Whether they are good or not is a personal opinion so I’d say just listen and decide for yourself.
FFF
Look up their discography, and listen through.
The last album Yum Yum Bedlam I think is a hit or miss through out the tracklist. But every album before is great.
Yeah same here, I thought yum yum kind of missed imo. The intro was also kind of misleading.
Right
And the producer tags, 🤮
So fkn happy Mike E Clark is returning to produce the 6th of the 2nd deck.
WAIT REALLY!?
Yep, J confirmed on IG while back.
Nice
Give everything a try, if you like it or not, with the new albums some love them, some hate them so i dont know if you can see until you try it yourself, keep in mind though they are diffrent but thats not always bad!
I love everything up to the Mightt Death Pop, then it’s hit or miss. Every artist who spends 30+ years in the game has a fall off period eventually. There’s still some good stuff in the later years, but I would definitely beat the classic stuff to death before moving on.
imo i like every albumn up to the mighty death pop, of course their are a few songs in every album i dont lile, but id say i love almost all of their albums before TMDP
I think 90% of material after the tempest is trash. Everything prior to that is amazing.
The new albums are eh compared to the old ones
Mike E. Clark's extra pop Emporium. It came out along side Mighty Death Pop, there are a few skips but this album on the whole is better than the main album imho.
Side not be sure to check out side albums. There's alot to be found outside the deck. My personal favorites are Tempest and Wizard of the Hood (J's solo project from back when) whoop whoop mmfwcl
Just gradually check out the newer stuff and see what you like. If you dig it, awesome! If not, no worries, you still have a bunch of the older stuff you can enjoy.
What albums have you heard so far?
As far as their newer albums go, the general consensus is that those are nowhere near as strong as their earlier works up through the early 2000's. I agree with that sentiment. But even their newer albums have some good stuff on it, maybe just not as consistently. If you're liking the albums you have heard, then definitely keep listening.
Just give it time because they have a huge discography and it's a lot to consume.
I’ve listened to The Great Milenko, The Amazing Jeckel Brothers, Riddle Box, and Bang Pow Boom. Yea most people have told me there new stuff is definitely not as strong as there old stuff but that makes sense.
Um listen to Ringmaster
Those are all fantastic albums and are amongst their best work. Bang Pow Boom is definitely my favorite from the 2nd deck era, and I always say the trio of Great Milenko, Riddle Box, and Amazing Jeckel Brothers are their peak.
Definitely give a listen to their double album Bizaar/Bizzar, which came out a year after Amazing Jeckel Brothers, as well as their two part album The Wraith (Shangri-La and Hell's Pit are the 2 parts) when you get the chance. Bizaar/Bizzar is cool because it wasn't one of the "Joker Cards" and is more of a collection of a bunch of different songs and you can tell they had a lot of fun on that one.
Ok sweet I will give them a listen when I can
I love yum yum right now. Its dope. The drunk and the addict is such a dope song.
I love some of their newer stuff, other people claim that “ICP sucks ever since blah blah album”
Listen to it yourself and make your own opinion, internet is a terrible place to ask for opinions
Something to See is an amazing song tho
Missing Link Found is also a solid album
Yea I’ve seen a few people say ICP sucks after this album becuase this guy left and blah blah. Yea I’m kind of just going through and picking albums that look cool or people talk about. Also thanks for the recommendations
Definitely look into the Forgotten Freshness albums. Those are full of songs that didn’t make it onto main albums, and they don’t really perform them live very often, but there are absolute gems in there
Alright I will check it out
The earlier albums, from Carnival of Carnage to The Wraith - Hell's Pit/Shangri-La is their best work. The newer stuff is still fine and overall it is entertaining but that lightning in a bottle that they had in the 90's and early 00's cannot be replicated.
Also listen to the first Dark Lotus album, Tales from the Lotus Pod - MARZ version, it's absolutely amazing.
Go into the new stuff with an open mind. It's NOTHING like the old stuff, but still good
Ok thank you I will definitely keep that in mind.
Personally, I enjoy the second deck altogether more than the first. The Mighty Death Pop will forever be my favorite album from them. Also if you really enjoy what you’re hearing so far, give Dark Lotus a listen to. Tales from the Lotus Pod with Marz is usually considered to be in the top 5 best releases from Psychopathic ever
I actually enjoy bang, pow, boom.
Always a personal preference. I, for one, enjoy the first deck more than the second. I will still listen to all the albums, but I liken the ICP discography to Doctor Who: you will always love your first Doctor more than the others. Riddlebox era for me will be my favorite, but that is not to say the rest are not good. As stated earlier, you will not go wrong giving all the albums a spin and decide for yourself.
WHOOP WHOOP!
As for their newer stuff, I thought Fred Fury and Yum Yum Bedlam were pretty good
They're newer stuff is good, you can tell that they were having fun exploring new themes and topics in their music. The early stuff is always gonna go hard, but give the new stuff more than a few listens and you understand. They're dope all the way around homie
They fell off pretty hard after Milenko imo but there’s still good songs here and there afterwards.
Yum Yum Bedlam is incredible I can’t tell you how much I love this album. Wicked Vic is my favorite of the EPs from said jokers card. Pug Ugly is pretty dope as well. In my opinion, being a newer fan of ICP, I absolutely think they keep getting better and better as time goes by. Fearless Fred Fury is super dope. Devereux and Shaggytheairhead have been amazing on all the ICP releases in the last few years, they are a great team together(sky is the limit). I can’t wait for the next jokers card to drop. Definitely listen to their newer stuff, it’s dope as f*ck. Whoop Whoop!
Alright thank you. Whoop Whoop!
I think the Mighty Death Pop! Is pretty awesome throughout. The skits in between the songs will make you fall out of your seat laughing (literally did for me) and the song Chris Benoit is one of their very best. I would recommend everything they have done but especially that one.
You have to remember with every subculture, especially in entertainment there are many that only acknowledge 'the early stuff'. Just act like it's a buffet and try a little bit of everything and make up your own mind. I love Mighty Death Pop, Bang Pow Boom and Fred Fury is more phat than whack to me. Missing Link has a few winners, but not my favorites. I haven't given Yum Yum a proper shot yet, so no comment on that. Hit up their tracks on youtube or whatever streaming service, (I'm old and still rock an mp3 player). It's not like you need to pay anything, just your time.
