Why
People have been backstabbed by HR, or who they think was HR, in the past. HR has no clue how the business makes a profit and stays in their clique. HR creates policies and rules strictly to mitigate risk and allows management to enforce the policies unfairly. Their manager has blamed HR for the bad, while they have taken credit for the good.
Some of the hate is fair. Some of it isn't. I work for a company that has a generally positive view of HR, but that's largely the work of our HR Director who has done the work to build trust for the last 6+ years.
“HR has no clue how the business makes a profit and stays in their clique” is inaccurate. It might be your personal experience, but it’s not true in most cases. Have you heard of an HR business partner? The role is dedicated to partnering with the business functions in the org. The role is centered around understanding how the business works. That statement is super closed minded.
Calm down there, killer. I am an HRBP. I was listing the reasons why people typically hate HR. I know these reasons because I have to counter-act them every day. Like I said, some of them are fair. I have worked with very insular HR professionals before. However, a lot of great HR pros have to work with a negative stigma that they didn't earn.
I see. Your comment is written as and comes across as those being your own views and opinions. No need for the “calm down there killer” rude comment.
