At this price and the size of the base I was just expecting a regular plastic ball gimbal.

It's going to be interesting to see this stripped down and/or given a good test drive to see where it's strengths and weaknesses are.

If it's a solid gimbal then they may have a winner on their hands.

Higher quality is debatable at best, and depends on what two products you might be comparing. Winwing makes things VKB literally doesn't even compete with. Overall quality though from the mouths of those who have tried both seems to pretty consistently go to VKB.

I'm kind of excited about this new stick from WinWing. Gonna go see if there are any early reviews and break downs.

Remember homies, being a fanboy of a give company does not serve yourself or the community, and new products and competition are almost exclusively a good thing for the educated and unbiased consumer.

Pincer dates back BEFORE VKB and VIRPIL to when CH Products / FLCS days. this is not new or revolutionary in its design type, but its design is sometimes a better method than the ball in socket. it is however a copy of the VKB format (same dimensions etc).

Now to explain more about what a pincer is. There is a dual arm (aka pincers - like a crab claw) around the central pivot point, allowing for rotational movement with a spring in the middle. This approach means that it is managing each axis resistive forces separately, instead of combined axis X and Y on a single spring - this means you get a more consistent feel on each axis range, rather than uneven spring forces.

it also means you can swap out the spring more easily to adjust the resistive forces for each axis, rather than a single spring design where you get reduced customisation.

Thrustmaster (except their new AVA) is ball in socket, they seemed to have learned over 20+ years (from every other vendor) that their design was flawed and needed to be updated.

Virpil uses a cam-and-bearing system in both the WarBRD and MT-50. VKB uses a cam-and-bearing system in the Gunfighter. WinWings current offerings also use a cam-and-bearing. At the moment, only the Gladiator uses a pincer from those three companies. It looks like WinWing's new one also uses a pincer, which is what they mean by "not cam".

I mean fair enough but Winwing doesn't have a bad rep or anything for quality. Also this has more base buttons and haptic / vibration feedback.

Also I HATE the VKB software with the white hot intensity of a thousand sons. I like the multiple software engineering degrees to use it even remotely proficiently and the tutorials on it suck.
