I've heard people back in the day who told me they went from Quebec to Vancouver by hitchhiking, is this realistic to do? Where do those people sleep exactly, let me know if you did something similar
I did it way back in the 70s and it was an incredible trip. People were so kind to me the whole way. Just one dangerous situation - got picked up by a young man and woman who acted very nervous as I got in the car. The guy roared off and was doing 100 mph on the Trans Canada. He even passed cars by driving on the shoulder. I was wondering what the hell was going on, when all of a sudden we got boxed in by four RCMP cruisers and Mounties who pointed guns at us. They ordered us out of the car and searched us. They took away the man and woman and asked me why I was with them. I told them they picked me up hitching and the cops told me they had robbed a bank in a small town 100 miles east. This was in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Try to make it to both Newfoundland and Vancouver Island. Both are beyond belief beautiful and fun to explore.
That is an INCREDIBLE hitchhiking story. A great way to truthfully tell people, "Yeah I was part of a bank robbery once."
Having hitchhiked and driven through Medicine Hat before I can picture the roads it all took place on. Such a good story!
