Hahaha I had no idea that was a thing that's hilarious! Yeah this is my second winter trip, but first backcountry. Lessons were learned and having everything on the outside got super snowed out!
Why did you choose to use 2 CCF pads instead of an blow up pad with a higher R rating?
Honestly, budget. I'm definitely looking at a blow up pad however they're a lot more comfy

Just one! This is upstate New York!
Oh wow, looks amazing! Sorry you had to turn back early.
Dial, nippletop, then in the blowdown section between Armstrong and uwj?
2/3 right! That's kinda scary you know exactly where this isðŸ˜. We entered through st Huberts, hiking up mountain den, dial, nippletop and camped out in the valley between Mount Colvin and Nippletop
I love a winter day hike but winter backpacking seems so intense. What a wonderful experience it must have been! Just you and the snow.
Grew up in dacks and didn't hike much until i was late in high school and in college so i missed out on alot. Need to go back
Winter backpacking is on another level. Nice pics

Looks like you had a nice time. Nice pictures. Take this the right way---> Im from Scandinavia and we say: "American packing", if you hang alot of gear on the outside of the backpack. And you sir are a fine example of that phenomenon. Yes I know, easily accessible.. Happy trails!
