What is this bug that I found on some of my clothes in my closet?
This is the correct answer
Little helpful friend
Heckin snap-snap fren.
First time one of those appeared on my wall I had a minor anxiety attack.
Looks like something out of a science fiction movie.
Was happy to learn they are beneficial to our habitat.
Be nice if humans could be more beneficial to animal habitats.
The first time I saw one, it was in my bedroll.
I was in Botswana, and it was an inch and a half long.
I was in Botswana, and it was an inch and a half long.
It was probably something else.
They usually range from 2 to 8 mm (0.08 to 0.31 in) in length. The largest known species is Garypus titanius of Ascension Island at up to 12 mm (0.5 in). Range is generally smaller at an average of 3 mm (0.1 in).
I could be remembering wrong. It was three decades ago, and bedtime. I do remember that it had claws but no tail, was harmless, and didn't have scorpion in the name, but my colleague would have given me the scientific name.Ā
Ā It could also have been that large in my nightmares and a bit smaller in reality.
Could it have possibly been a tailless whipscorpion or vinegaroon?
Maybe. The scientific name doesn't sound familiar, though.
They are freakier looking with the arms extended
That kinda sounds like a real scorpion
A friend. Let him be! He eats things that he eats clothes.
Bed bugs aren't that big.
Bed bugs aren't that big.
And are, in fact, a prey item for pseudoscorpions. :)
Nice! I thought they mostly ate moth larvae and mites.
There is one pseudoscorpion that is commonly found in homes all over the world. The house pseudoscorpion (Chelifer cancroides) is fond of carpet beetle larvae, clothes moth larvae, booklice, and just loves to eat bedbugs.

Alas, though, this looks to be a different species, so it might have a different diet. :(
Im sorry, BOOKLICE?!!
Probably better known as barklice... (at least that's the name I first heard 'em under)
Haha yep!

Yo, so likeā¦ which hotel? š
It's a pseudo scorpion, they eat other insects and are harmless to humans. If you don't want it inside, carefully place them outdoors. Completely beneficial to us.
Which is apparently a death sentence to āinsideā bugs.
Pseudoscorpion. Fascinating little arthropods.
congrats you got a defender of your stuff (books/clothes). pseudo-scorpions are the best
Pseudoscorpion, does stuff, eats stuff. Cool dudes.

Pseudoscorpion!!!!
Pseudoscorpion!! Helpful little guys, they donāt want to hurt you (:
Pseudoscorpions are generally beneficial to humans since they prey on clothes moth larvae, carpet beetle larvae, booklice, ants, mites, and small flies.
Don't forget bed bugs, fleas and and even ticks
Just a little guy
Just wondering out loud if the poster should try to figure out what it's food source is..
