So I recently got into grunge, I have explored basically the whole nirvana discography and some of the more popular songs from AiC, SG and PJ. Can anyone recommend some good songs that are not so well known?
Temple of the Dog is some of the most beautiful music I've ever come across đđđ
GOING HUNGRY EHHHHHHH
Props for Scotty n the Muds
Scotty.... Tisk, broke me heart... I rode that bitch too... 24 years clean.... And Layne on Kurt's DoD lol or wahhhhh....
And
Bloody thanx Chester.... Why did the grunge)metal/rick/alternate worlds just flat out rob Chris eh.... Just....
NOTHING COMPARES TO HIM!!!
Donât forget Silverchair!
I hope ur not joking..... Faaark I lovvvve FROGSTOMP.... CEMETARY!!!!!
HEARTS BRI!!!
Haha of course not, I LOVE silverchair. Frogstomp is one of the best grunge albums out there, especially considering their age when they wrote it.
Eddie Vedder (by Local H)
All of âAs Good As Deadâ actually đ
All of Local H tbh
This song is great!
Holy shit!!!!! I forgot allll about Local Hâ¤ď¸
Iâll put in a plug for Local Hâs Creature Comforted
Fucks me up he's Last Man Standing...... But seriously a scattered few and pretty much all of Ten... BLACK!! JEREMY!! DAUGHTER!! ALL OF THEM ARE DEEPER THAN THE SINGS THEY ATE KNOWN FOR...ahhh crap, caps lol... Not rewriting soz not soz lol.....
Couldn't even tell you "the grungest things these days" lol
Tenacious D!! Kings of Leon?!? .... Billy fucking Eyelash lol
We so lack decent rock/metal chicks... Recent love to miss Hale!!
Eddie Vedder by snfu
if they were eddie vedder i would like them so much better.
Better than Eddie Vedder
That's it, I quit,
I don't
Give a shit
Huh?
He ALIVE bro... Not grunge enough mayhaps bahah..... Ohhhh ohhhh I'm still ALIVE BAYAHAHA
I never see anyone talk about Stone Temple Pilots âKitchen Wares and Candy Barsâ
Big STP fan and that song is among my favorites. Love how it builds
Core made them rock stars but Purple is their masterpiece
So true. #missmesomescott
Hard to disagree lol but the dogs are talkin
CORE..... (drop mike)
Soundgarden - Beyond the wheel. Not as popular but ruufffffffffffffffff
The live versions are even better than the studio one.
Amazing song
Birth Ritual is is such a a great song as well
The non-album tracks Black Rain and Fresh Deadly Roses are amazing.
Euphoria Morning..... No one sings like him anymore or ever again
Some of the stuff buried on the nothing safe box set is great. âLying Seasonâ is such a great song and I canât understand how it missed the cut on any album. Does Failure count as grunge? Fantastic planet is a great album.
Failure isn't grunge IMO but I always recommend Fantastic Planet to anyone interested in music from the 90's. It's a shame that they didn't catch on with listeners.
Mark lanegan- Mockingbird, Cracker-Low
I see your Cracker and raise you Camper Von Beethovenâs Picture of Matchstick Men.
But have you seen Ozzy cover it live?
Soundtrack for the movie Singles. Pearl Jamâs â Lost Dogsâ is all b-sides.
Doesnât lost dogs have previously unreleased stuff plus some fan club singles? But I understand what you meant
Yeah! Besides yellow Ledbetter, most of the stuff will be new for casual PJ fans. Thereâs a couple stinkers, but thatâs to be expected
True lots of new stuff. I remember hearing a caller on the radio that bought all of PJs albums at the time and they still didnât have what they were looking for- Ledbetter lol.
I mean it came out 20 years ago, but the songs will be new for you!
Yep itâs a pretty good collection. I remember looking in music stores for those singles to get those b-sides. My fave is acoustic elderly woman- well the more acoustic
The amount of money I spent on âimportsâ in the 90s is embarassing.
Lol right! Remember those stickers on pj singles- ânot to be confused with the more expensive âidenticalâ import versionsâ? I got in late enough to the game that pretty sure saved me some cash.
The local headship had bootlegs of shows that sold for $40 bucks. Kids these days donât know how good they have it!
Frogs
Yes. That frogs followed up by over now just knocks you down.
Army Ants - STP
Lizzy - Melvins
Monster - L7
My Song - Jerry Cantrell
Stranger - Skin Yard
Sweet 69 - Babes in Toyland
Heâs somebodyâs daughter
BandsâŚ. Green River, Mother Love bone, Mudhoney.
A Little Bitter, What the Hell Have I - AIC
TAD - Flame Tavern
Why don't you just listen to the entire albums? There are so many unknown good songs on every single album.
Soundgarden: hands all over, mind riot
Candlebox: blossom
Blind melon: change
Temple of the dog
Pixies: UMass
The album âPushâ by the band Gruntruck has zero bad songs on it.
Toadies are amazing
I burn
Backslider
Listen to the album American Standard by Seven Mary Three..the whole thing is perfect.
Couldn't agree more
listen to Candlebox.
I need you to go and listen to Mother Love Bone.
Immediately đđ
Need-Mudhoney
Get the Sub Pop 100 and start there
Gun by Soundgarden is a song that doesnât get talked about nearly as much as it deserves
soundgarden-birth ritual
Jessie by PAW. Very underrated and sad song. But itâs raw grunge
Green River, Motherlovebone, Gruntruck and The Melvins are all bands that helped push the movement. Remember, Grunge isnât all about the 90s, it started in the mid 80s; which is when all the good stuff came out. If you want to go deep into the iceberg, look back as far as you can go
âItâs Shovedâ by The Melvins
BRAD - Shame
Interiors is an amzing album too.
Local H creature comforted, heavy metal bakesale, and their cover of Spiderbite
Thelonious monster
The Puddle of Mudd cover of About A Girl
chefs kiss đ¤
Their first album âAbrasiveâ is lowk good
PĂŚgan Love Song - Acid Bath
I donât know if you can really call it grunge but, I think you could throw it on a grunge album and people wouldnât bat an eye.
Not sure if it's considered grunge but the song Stars by the band Hum is pretty cool.
Screaming Trees - Sweet Oblivion and Dust are two of the best albums of the 90âs. Listen to âshadow of the seasonâ from Sweet Oblivion and âwitnessâ and âall I knowâ from Dust.
Silverchair - Freak
Any Soundgarden Superunknown and back.
That whole Push album from Gruntruck slaps
Cool Magnet by Local H
Greta - Fathom
Their whole album, No Biting, is pretty good.
Just throw on full albums from SG, AIC, and PJ and see what you like. Thereâs too many good deep cuts in those albums to really name
Spin Magazine declared the album Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub the best album of 1991. That's right kids, the same year that Nevermind was released. And what did Kurt have to say about this declaration? He was also a huge fan. They are a great band and been a favorite of mine since I was a teenager. I'm super bummed I didn't see them in LA last night for the last night of their tour but I really couldn't sit in traffic for three hours and my kid just got back from Europe....TLDR Teenage Fanclub (more indie than grunge but the guitars have weight).
Definitely make a point to check out Melvins - âHoudini album. Cobain used to roadie for them and their drummer was Nirvanaâs original drummer on Bleached. They are hit and miss in albums but closest thing to that vibe still around. They kill it live and have been touring forever
I'd recommend mother love bone, my favorite song by them is gentle groove. Idk if technically they are grunge, but close enough to me.
Very early Goo Goo Dolls and Soul Asylum
Pain - My Sister's Machine and anything by Dinosaur Jr.
My Wave - Sound Garden. I really like that song and the music video. I think it really sums up the tail end of grunge sound, post-cobain.
Sedan Delivery - Neil Young and Crazy Horse
No fooling, Mr. Young was a grunge pioneer. Check out the albums Ragged Glory and Mirror Ball for a more contemporary grunge sound (the latter album was done with Pearl Jam).
"Feel The Pain" by Dinosaur Jr, "Feed The Tree" by Belly, "Believe" by Dig đĽđĽđĽđĽ
Early SG is under appreciated
Temple Of The Dog!!!
Pill Shovel by Monster Magnet
Sold my fortune by sugartooth is a forgotten banger
Urge Overkill - Sister Havana
Screaming Trees - All That I Know
Mother Lovebone is another great Seattle band
I don't know if it counts as grunge but Let Me In by R.E.M. is a song I'd recommend for anyone who likes grunge
Bush Glycerine
honestly, some of Neil young & crazy horse is grunge. like hey hey my my and rockin in the freeworld. the mirrorball album

Touch me Iâm sick.
Meat Puppets, Helmet, Local H, and Hole (Live Through This more than the other albums) all have great records. The Breeders, Melvins, and Faith No More are also really good. You'll find songs, for sure.
"Days of The New" has just 3 albums with a few great tracks waiting to be discovered.
Temple of the Dog - Times of Trouble
Mad Season - Artificial Red
Honky's Ladder by Afghan Whigs
EP by Squirrel Bait is pretty good
Kerbdogâs first record was marketed as a a grunge album. There is deffo a bit of that but the song writing is class.
Say the Word - Dinosaur Jr
Goinâ Down by Bam Bam
The money will roll right in- Mudhoney
"Molly (16 Candles)" by Sponge
Get the first three Jesus Lizard albums, The Melvinâs Houdini and Stoner Witch, Sonic Youthâs Goo and Dirty

The Screaming Trees SST Years compilation is an essential overview of their early work.

Tad -- Plague Years
Tad-- Leafy Incline
Me gusto
DGC Rarities Vol.1
The entire superunknow album is great but some skips could be head down and half
Mother Love Bone, Green River.
I also really dig Veruca Salt, Garbage and Hole.
Scott Weiland - Barbarella
crown of thorns by Mother Love Bone
Changed my mind..... MIKIE PATTON IS THE GRUNGEST CUNT GOING
You know U want it all but.... YOU CANT HAVE IT!!
So we all bring up stuff.....
Offspring? Grunge punk,?
Kurdt my heart but murdered ir a dumb cunt lol.....
Temple of the Dog for me...
Maiden x Ozzy x Zepplin x Fleetwood = grunge
You are looking for Seattle area bands. Grunge is not really a music style. It was a corny name made up to market music from the area by LA writers and producers.
sun puddle
Is âSex Tapeâ by Deftones considered grunge?
Listen to stuff from Screaming Trees, Mad Season, Temple Of The Dog, Stone Temple Pilots, Mudhoney, etc.
