Girls throughout the years: Jessa's Style Evolution
OtherSeriously, how did they make her look ethereal and make you hate her at the same time?
Because sheās stunning
And still is. I cannot believe she is 39! She looks fantastic.
She is WHAT
āIām a hateable kind of person. Maybe it's because I have a big ass and good hair.ā
itās because it is the only time she has a middle part. it makes her look sooo good, i hate that they did that side swept hair for the whole rest of the show
For reallllll god damn
šÆ
Right? Fucking iconic
I love Jessaās style and her hair is so nice. I love her hair styles. I would say her style is the least datedĀ
The green top with the overalls and the braid will always be my fave
Itās the baby blue clogs for me š«¶
Itās giving beginning of fall vibes, perfection.
her best outfit, imo.
So the clothes were actually jemimias own clothes! If you want that goodbye to girls special on HBO they talk about it. In the first episode it wasnāt her own clothes, but the actress said she didnāt think thatās how jessa would dress and then they started pulling clothes from her own personal closet
She also said that the way jessa dressed in the first episode gave jessa a bohemian feel but JK didnāt see that for jessa. However, I kinda always thought jessa was a bit on the boho side regardless
Agree. The difference is she has an authentic bohemian feel, while there is that Audrey gal that has the trendy 2012 boho style.
Yes!!! Iāve met a million Audreyās back in that time period. I was 18 when girls came out and I watched it religiously every week through the whole series. Iām also from NY (not NYC, rockland county) and the episode where they go to get Jessa from rehab, that state park is Harriman. Thatās where me and the homies would go to hike and drink and smoke once we all started driving.
Also, kind of related but unrelatedā in sex and the city Aidenās cabin is supposed to be in my hometown (suffern) but they make it seem like such a bumblefuck hick town; which it is absolutely not. 45 min train ride to NYC. They also filmed a lot of the Irishmen in my hometown as well, right on the main strip. I guess Iām mostly bringing it up because girls is seriously SATC for my generation. I love both shows but girls hits so much closer to home.
And wasn't her Mum the costumer for the show? Or at least provided the clothes for Jessa and Hannah or something? She has a vintage clothing store or something...
All of her outfits are random and unique. She had the best style of anyone on the show.
But they still somehow have the same vibe. The designer went off
Effortlessly cool vibes
The off the shoulder white top no bra and jeans is the level of effortless I aspire to
Ugh I know
When Elijah comments on her kimono š¤£
Still wearing that sad kiiiimono
That white top and jeans is so cute. Sheās so pretty.
I like that one. It makes me want to buy it.
14/20 yellow stripes. Fave.
I have said it whenever this scene is mentioned on this sub but you can see here why Adam fell for her and why Hannah kind-of accepted it.
Didnāt she choose most of Jessaās own outfits from her motherās shop?
I feel like her character was somewhat stunted because of her close relationship with Lena, and I think that translated to Jemima having a more-than-healthy influence on the character, including her styling.
She also went from flowy, diaphanous pieces to a lot of boyish t-shirts after she got sober and was interested in Adam. Iām sure this was supposed to show she was attempting to be more grounded.
She even started wearing a cross for a minute.
The side braid x dungaree look will always have a hold on me
āItās floor length!ā
Oh my god this popped into my head too
S5 and s6 Jessa had some amazing outfits
truly my fave
I canāt even fathom what it must be like to be this beautifulā¦
Season 2 outfits were my favorite. They were (after the outrageousness in szn1) the best at exemplifying her illusion as the womanly, knowledgeable, arty, enigma everyone covets.
As she grew older and had [not too] humbling experiences, she was more open to doing and wearing whatever, rather than keeping up with her reputation as Cooler Than We Ever Could. No longer like the marnie line about her lying about not knowing where she got some fake but awesome flea market find. She wore regular shit you could find at the stores. And yes looked cunt, because she's still her.
I never noticed she wore a cross necklace. Feels weird for Jessa
In the 10th photo, can we conclude that the actress is actually peeing in the street to film this scene?
Her style got progressively more basic, but was always the best dressed of the cast in my humble onion.
she tones it down so much in the later seasons. i think as she grows up a little and tries to take herself more seriously, itās deff reflected in her fashion choices
Truly evil character but conistently had the best looks of the entire show.
QUEEEEEN
I love the halter top
This was a really fun era of fashion, NGL.
Fun fact: the actor that played Jessa got tired of the long endless hair so she made Lena let her cut it lol
She is so beautiful, bohemian šāļøš
I donāt like the white cold shoulder top. Grey-green wrap floaty dress is stunning.
Her impromptu wedding look lives rent free in my mind
Itās so weird to me how much Jessa physically gives me the ick considering I also think sheās objectively very/the most attractive. I just find her very repellant.
Itās because sheās mean and callous. But she has ethereal beauty. I think she would be beautiful according to beauty standards across any era of history.
Yeah she always looks like a painting! Art history textbook face
Especially in photo 5!
Yeah, I just think I may be too shallow for that to be the only reason. There are other characters in shows and movies who I view as bad people but who donāt physically gross me out. I think sheās beautiful but thereās an ick I canāt explain.
i legit bought that outfit in the 11th pic and i looked all around for her shoes too until i found a replica š¤£šø
ME TOO! Got my baby blue clogs on Poshmark!
i think i got mine at Nordstrom rack haha
āi can see your belly buttonā
As much as I hate that scene, she is absolutely gorgeous in the 14th photo š
She had the best style of them all minus the trashy bathroom bikini
Missing my favorite look, the black midaxi dress with a choker neckline she wore while working at the toddler boutique. Also how does she always look like a painting? So stunning
That rooster dress needs to be ripped up and burned.
God, sheās so beautiful
Class act
Well she is Stunning and she is hotter than me
Ohhh love this post. Looking forward to more characters!
Sheās one of the most beautiful women ever. Sheās just so effortlessly chic and cool.
Off topic but I have watched this show a million times and do not remember a stoop sale ever happening! Am I crazy??
Itās the same episode where marble gets in booth Jonathanās tv sculpture I think
The outfit sheās wearing in 10 (the episode where she pees in the street lol) is so effortlessly cool and chill and I could never look that cool lol š
Sheās so gorgeous
I loved her style, especially her shoes! All those stylish platforms and clogs š
A gorgeous menace
what episode is the second to last picture from?
Season 6 Episode 8 āWhat Will We Do This Time About Adamā
thank you
She is just stunningly beautiful.
Pic 5 was ideal top style. Later seasons her style became more generic.
She never looked hotter than when she was watching Adamās play from the fire escape. It was also borderline evil
