I get that, honestly their all great
they're*, if you're EnglishSecondLanguage, that's totally excusable
also, I agree, all great
It is im Dutch 😅
🤓
I get it reddit, I might be some sort of nerd, but not actually that smart, subjectively. I love you all, but I also love spelling in combination with grammar, not so much punctuation. I promise, I don't suck, that much, and really, really love anime/Studio Ghibli. hopefully, that's enough, I do care, don't destroy my main, if possible. my bad for correcting the most obvious spelling mistake.
Omg you are so annoying
Seriously?? What did you gain from correcting it?? Just scroll if it bothers you that much. We don't need an essay about how much you love us all?
Also, Ponyo <3
then just scroll if it bothers you so much, you didn't have to read it....
Kiki’s Delivery Service
Nausicaa
Currently? It's Nausicaä
Nausicaa has the best score.
I saw it on the big screen last year during Ghibli Fest. Good lord it's powerful. My whole group was crying at the end.
Haven't seen it 😬
If you like Mononoke you'll like Nausicaä. They're fairly similar in themes and character motivations. Mononoke used to be my fav, but then I watched Nausicaä and I enjoyed it even more! Tho, I think most prefer Mononoke🤔
Thx I'm gonna watch it tomorrow
I think you're gonna like it, it's excellent :3
Really? Everyone I know prefers Nausicaä
Really? I was under the impression that most people liked Mononoke more, cuz whenever people talk about the best Ghibli films the one I see pop up most frequently are Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.
Yeah, I definitely should have clarified. I guess when I've talked to people that have seen them both which is only a handful
Porch Rosso
Yess, hidden gem for me
Whisper of the Heart for sure.
Its honestly my least favourite. I would be genuinly interested to hear why you like it though, if its not too much trouble for you.
It’s my favorite because it has such a relatable and heartwarming story, and it has some of, if not the best writing of any movie I’ve watched imo.
PS This doesn’t make the movie itself any less good, but I do think they should’ve gone with a different poster. The one with Shizuku and the Baron flying can be misleading and make people think it’s a fantasy movie when it’s actually not. But again, that’s just the poster. The movie itself is great.
Thanks for sharing
Castle in the sky!!!!!
Same!
Loved that since childhood
The best one
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbor Totoro, mainly for nostalgia I feel when I watch it, as it’s like a gateway to how I felt about the world as a kid. Many childhood memories connected to that movie like going blockbuster for the VHS and enjoying time with my family watching it on our tube tv with popcorn. Really all ghibli movies are like that for me but the first was My Neighbor Totoro.
Howl’s Moving Castle
Arrietty because it was my first. I saw it on my 16th birthday (if i remember correctly)
Kiki’s Delivery Service
Only Yesterday
Underrated
Same
Princess Mononoke
Honorable mention to basically all of them, but especially Nausicaa and Kiki
Grave of the Fireflies
I always hear this one is really sad. Is it a good watch?
Edit: Ok I will watch it
10/10 One of the best movies ever. Never watching it again.
It is definitely both. I found it to be brutally sad but also very much worth watching. I would not watch it with young children.
My favorite is When Marnie Was There
Literally just finished it and it made me so emotional. What a great movie. Definitely one of my favourites now
Princess Kaguya ❤️
Princess Mononoke.
PONYO
Whisper of the Heart
Same.
Porco Rosso, but some of the other Ghibli movies are close
Porco rosso!
The wind rises
right
Howls, only yesterday and castle in the sky are like 2a 2b, whisper of the heart, then porco rosso
Spirited away!
Kiki
where is The Tale of the Princess Kaguya in that picture? also my answer is Kaguya, duh
Castle in the Sky
Nausicaa for me. I remember finding it as a real little kid because it was on the very bottom shelf at the rental place. I thought it looked sick so I made my mom rent it. It was the old dub and was named Warriors of the Wind. That’s why it will always be my favorite. I remember the old dub of Totoro too, gollywollypogs!
Porco Rosso
Only Yesterday
Porco Rosso and Kiki's Delivery Service are both tied for first for me
Spirited away
Whisper of the Heart, I hope to cosplay Shizuku soon.
Howls Moving Castle will always be my number one, however, Proco Rosso is a close second
Howl’s Moving Castle 🫶🏽
Pom Poko
princess mononoke and nauscia
The Wind Rises, Only Yesterday, and Kaguya are my three favorites
When Marnie was there
There isn't a single bad Ghibli movie. I love 'em all! 💙 There are phases in my life where I crave some of them. I live abroad, when I feel homesick, miss my sister a lot I watch "My neighbor Totoro" and cry my guts out 🧚♀️
nausicaa of the valley of the wind is too underrated
Underrated or underwatched? I think that most people who see it really love it but relative to, for example, Princess Mononoke and Spirited away it's not watched nearly as much.
true... it should definitely be more popular!!
From up on Poppy Hill. Something about it is so relaxing.
Don’t make me choose. 😮💨
Arrietty
Princess Mononoke
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
Grave of the Fireflies
Kiki's delivery service
My favorite is on here three times 🙃
Whisper of the heart is on that image twice
Howls Moving Castle
I like Kiki's Delivery Service. It's kind of nice just having an innocent story of a girl who is maturing as a child into a teenager. It's just nice to see a peaceful movie and a break from war torn eras or save the world stories. I also love the bread shop lol
Nausicaa
Gotta be boy and the heron or howls Moving Castle
Porco Rosso 🔥
I truly couldn't pick but if I was forced to it'd be my neighbour totoro it was my comfort movie as a kid
Mononoke. It was the first ghibli I have watched and it blew me away as a kid when Ashitaka starts shooting arms off with a bow.
Howls moving castle, but I saw spirited away first, so it also has a special place for me.
Princess Mononoke
Grave of the Fireflies
I honestly love a big majority of them, it’s literally so hard to choose just one, maybe I could narrow it down to 5 😭
I did name my cat after Ponyo though lol
Howl’s moving castle
Earwig and the Witch. Obv.
Kikis Delivery Service gives me so much joy for life every time i watch it
Where is かぐや姫?
Spirited away & howls moving castle 🥰
Ponyo! It’s adorable and comforting to watch
Kiki’s Delivery Service all the way
I wanted to say Grave of the Fireflies because it is a really great film; however, it’s just too heavy and I can’t watch it over and over. I’ll pick Spirited Away instead.
Definitely Nausicaa, I'm in love with basically every part of this movie, especially with its world and technology. Similarly Laputa and Mononoke
princess mononoke definitely the yamadas and pompoko deserve a mention though
Love All Of Studio Ghibli Movies. Can’t Wait To See The Next Studio Ghibli Movie On May. If Disney Princesses Were A Studio Ghibli Character? Which Ghibli Film They’d Belong? I Know Pocahontas And Princess Mononoke Good Candidate. What About Mulan? Where Does She’s Go Ghibli Film?
i’m stuck between totoro and mononoke
Spirited Away and Whisper of the Heart
oh and also Arietty
Castle of Cagleostro
All of them!!! Squishy!!!
Ik it isn’t technically a ghibli movie but definitely Lupin The 3rd And The Castle Of Cagliostro.
Spirited Away (I have only seen two ghibli movies so not a very hard choice).
Nausicaä definitely, the music alone kills me everytime. Especially after having read the original Manga for the movie, i love it so much. But it's still hard to really full decide on it beeing my favourite one, i've definitely seen mononoke the most amount of Times and spirited away is just the Best at making you feel exactly like the Main Character, absolutely scared and New to everything, easing into the World through the course of the movie. And dont even get me started on howl, i'd Do way to much for this man. And still one of my favourites just for the vibes alone is porco Rosso, it will always have a special place in my heart.
But Overall, atleast at the Moment, definitely nausicaä
Spirited Away has always been my favourite as a kid who grew up with Ghibli. Totoro, Ponyo, and Kiki’s Delivery service were the classics that we owned on DVD, Spirited Away was the special one that i always requested on our Blockbuster trips, and we’d usually grab any other Ghibli movies that found their way into our local video store
my recent faves have been Castle in the Sky, When Marnie Was There, and Porco Rosso :)) ghibli movies coming to netflix changed EVERYTHING for me. before that, i’d have to scour KissAnime or adjacent sites
My neighbour Totoro and Kiki's delivery service
Wow, I get that people don't like My Neighbors the Yamadas, but not even including it in a collage is next level disdain, lol.
From up the Poppy Hill. It's my comfort movie ❤️
Kiki's delivery service 🐈⬛️
Porco Rosso 🐽
Kaguya
Pom Poko
Spirited Away is my favorite in terms of quality, messaging, and artistic value.
Castle In the Sky is my favorite in terms of nostalgia, action, and fun.
Spirited Away, fell in love at first sight with it when I was 9 and so I grew up with it. It's my comfort movie, too
Castle in the Sky!
Whisper Of The Heart
Whisper of The Heart my beloved
Princess Mononoke and The Princess Kaguya
Howl's moving castle
Nausicaä is the goat
Princess Mononoke isn’t just my favorite ghibli movie. It’s my favorite movie period.
I also love Nausicaa.
(In case you couldn’t tell I’m something of an environmentalist)
Howl’s moving castle
Princess Mononoke
Whisper of heart
The tale of Princess Kaguya
And Castle in the sky and Mononoke are tied for the second spot
Porco Rosso
Why do the comments get more up-votes then my post😭
Totoro ❤️❤️ reminds me of my childhood with me and my sister hanging around in gardens and climbing trees❤️
The Cat Returns
I took one glance at this and thought Ashitaka was holding lightsabers. Anyways, Whisper of the Heart
Princess mononoke without a doubt! I love that one. Whisper of the heart and from up on the poppy hill are close seconds!
Why are there 3 Mononoke Movies in the Picture?
Ahhhhh all of these are classics I can't pick! :(
Yes!
Ponyo 🤌
spirited away
Anything besides Pom poko, ocean waves, or the boy and the heron
You don't like the boy and the heron?
Not at all
Why don't people like it? I'm just deciding whether it's worth a watch or not
It’s obviously worth a watch. It didn’t win an academy award for nothing.
Oh shit I didn't know it won an academy. Will watch soon
It’s like the first act was 5 minutes long, second act 2 hours, then the third act another 5 minutes with the ending falling off a cliff like maximum overdrive. I couldnt get emotionally invested in any of the characters to the point where I can’t even remember any of their names. The protagonist wasn’t likable and had no personality, the little bald sidekick gray heron guy had the potential to be a great side character but despite the bloated runtime, he wasn’t in the film enough for us to figure out who he is, where he came from, why he was instructed by mark hamills character to help protagonist kid along and why he did this “lying/truthful/we’re fighting/we’re friends” thing. If they would have introduced protagonist kid’s mother whilst she was alive and we got to know her and her relationship to her son, we would have been more heartbroken when she died. instead, the movie starts off with: “I’m a kid. I had a mom. Now she’s dead.”
idk
- Spirited Away
- Totoro
- Howls
- Nausicaä
- Princess Mononoke
Most underrated: Castle In The Sky, Porco Rosso
spirited away🖤
