I was in SF and saw a new rainbow flag. The one with the triangle and circle.

I read up on the history of the rainbow flag. The main idea being that "The colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and the spectrum of human sexuality and gender." And the colors are meant to represent abstract things. Life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, serenity and spirit.

In general it feels like the idea was that the rainbow flag represents us all, everyone is welcome and the colors didn't really specify a single group in particular and this was very conscious choice.

But this new flag with the triangle and circle represents black lives matter, trans, HIV aids and the circle represents intersex people.

My feeling on this is that this new flag very exclusionary. Where as the old represented everyone and no one. This new one singles out some people, but when you single out let's say intersex people, you are consciously excluding asexuals, polygenders or whichever group would want to be part of the community.

So I guess my question is what am I missing? Is there something I don't understanding about the new flag, is the history of the old one misleading?

I just don't understand this need to add this hieracy where some groups get specific colors and shapes and some don't get a mention. Seems very exclusionary to those that don't get a "mention" and adds a "hieracy" of who we care about a problem the old flag doesnt have
