I will be arriving in Firenze on 23/11. Which is the USA’s Thanksgiving holiday. I’m wondering if there are any restaurants that serve a typical USA Thanksgiving dinner? Thanks for any responses If not I’ll find some pumpkin raviolis :)
Hey, I’m American and the owner/chef at melaleuca bakery + bistrot. We do thanksgiving every year and tasty house made pies :)
Your welcome! We love doing it!
I just checked out your menu. I can’t wait to have breakfast at your place :) I’ll also be seeing you for Thanksgiving. Should I make a reservation?
Absolutely. You can call the shop directly to book.
Ok, will do by the end of this week. Thanks :)
I will find you on Google maps. Thanks :)
Thanks :)
I don't think so. Why would a restaurant in italy do a thanksgiving dinner?
Because there are plenty of Americans living here?
Apparently less than 15'000 in all of Italy. I think a lot of them may be military
Or university.
There has got to be more than 15K, I don't think that statistic actually includes military members because under the SOFA agreement Americans don't exist in their comune in Italy. Edit: Just checked the Navy website for Naples, there are 8k people that work there, not including partners and children, so there is definitely more than 15K Americans in Italy.
Yeah and usually eat out in restaurant without asking them to canter to their wants. We do not celebrate Thanksgiving so why do a menu just for them?
Why are you getting upset? Just asked a question and I don’t expect Italians to bend over backwards for an American holiday. I’m simply asking a question. I’m also more than happy to eat Italian cuisine on the 23rd. Once again, it’s simply a question.
You make it sound like I’m going to throw a tantrum if I don’t get a Turkey dinner. Lmao Hahahahah
Italians get very upset with tourists in reddit threads. Especially Americans. It’s ok though deep down they love Americans and our culture.
I hope so, lol It’s not like I was demanding Italy make me a turkey dinner.
How dare you ask a question? The nerve of you lol
And food, don't forget food.
I do not know about Thanksgiving, but OP you should know that we celebrate the Festa del Grazie eating lots of quaglie!
I will have to do some research on this, thanks :)
Don’t, just kidding, it was a reference to an Italian tv show called Boris where screenwriters try to translate the American thanksgiving into an italianized form. My serious suggestion would be the Roster Cafe and the American Diner 1950 :)
Haha gotcha. Thanks :)
I really don't think so, but enjoy the pumpkin tortelli, don't ruin the day with a tourist trap
Yeah, I figured if a restaurant served an American Thanksgiving dinner it’s probably a tourist trap. Just wanted the memory. It’s not that big of a deal if I don’t have a traditional dinner on the 23rd. Just was wondering. Some of these comments really took offense to this question, lol I’m in Italy for 18 days, so I’m going to get my fill of Italian cuisine. I’ll be in 6 different regions. I’ll invite any of the mad commentors out to dinner on the 23rd so we can talk about turkey and mashed potatoes lol.
Any place having a Thanksgiving dinner in Italy is guaranteed to be a 120% tourist trap.
I figured, just was asking.
I seriously doubt it.
Ahh yes, the famous Italian thanksgiving. When celebrate that time when the Romans got invited to dinner by the native Etruscans and Italic peoples before conquering them.
The real question is... Why would you want to? Lol Thanksgiving food is pretty terrible, Turkey? By far the most mediocre poultry out there.
Why are you upset over a question? To answer your question as to “why would I want to?” So I can say I had Thanksgiving in Italy. Personally, I don’t really give a shit about holidays, but I thought it would be a nice memory. As for your opinion on Thanksgiving food, it’s just your opinion. :) a presto
Appunto the typical Italian Thanksgiving, very cool, very typical, as is tradition...
