Frequently Asked Questions
Console
  • Q: Why can't consoles have the same mods as PCs? (Pallet Autoload, GPS, Super Strength, Any script)

A: Consoles are limited for two reasons: Scripts and Licensing, You will only have access to mods that use the base-game scripts included in the game. Furthermore, licensing is a lot stricter on consoles which will prevent certain brands from coming to console.

  • Q: But what about the "auto loading trailer we had for 19"?

A: This wasn't a true autoloader, just a trailer that could fill with each fill-type for which it then showed corresponding models, it lacked any function to unload said product besides in a pile or over a sell-point. This is why you had to configure the type in the shop for quite a number of these. They are nothing more than a standard fillable trailer with a different fill animation then what you're used to.

  • Q: Why can't Giants make a base-game autoloading script?

A: This is unfeasible as it would require updating anytime a modder adds a new pallet type, Which costs a fee to Giants charged by the console manufacturers, a problem even more prevalent now with productions. And no, just limiting it to base-game pallets won't fix anything because then we'll just get "Why can't we autoload X when we can autoload Y"

  • Q: Why do consoles have slots, what are slots? (The little block icon)

A: Each respective console has a slot limit that defines, how many vehicles, tools, and other in-game items can be processed at a time due to hardware limitations of the consoles. For more information check this post

  • Q: Why is there a bale limit?

A: The processing power of consoles is pretty limited. In order to keep smooth gameplay, GIANTS has a bale limit for consoles.

  • Q: Can consoles have a dedicated server now?

A: Yes!, You're now able to rent a dedicated server for consoles from the official providers.

  • Q: Is Keyboard & Mouse supported for the console version of the game?

A: No, there's no support for Keyboard and Mouse

  • Q: How do I add Money to my savegame??

A: You can add money to a savegame using the Government Subsidy mod which adds a certain amount (depending on difficulty setting) of money on the hour until you remove the sign.

  • Q: How do I remove Money from my savegame??

A: You can remove money from a savegame by leasing an expensive machine such as a combine over and over until your money has been removed.

Basic Gameplay

please have a look at the game guide first, there is a lot of great information there that probably answers your question!

  • Q: Can I run FS22 on my computer?

A: Please use this website and it's tool which can automatically check if your PC can run the game.

  • Q: What is this crop/filltype icon?

A: Please take a look at this image for production types  and this image  which goes over the crop types.

  • Q: In What order should I work my fields?

A: Have a check in the guide for specific crops. However, in general you: Plow/subsoil (if it's required), Lime (if it's required), Plant your crop, Roll your crop before it germinates, Fertilize your crop after it germinates, Remove the weeds (weeder or sprayer), Fertilize again, harvest.

  • Q: When do I need to plow/subsoil?

A: Have a check in the Plowing and Cultivating guide for the full details but in short you only need to plow/subsoil after Potatoes, Corn, and Sugarbeets. (So none of this every 3 harvests, that is old information from FS17 which is outdated)

Glitches

If your glitch isn't mentioned here or in the latest patch notes please make sure to report it to Giants!

  • Q: My pallets appear to be half-full or other pallets are floating on top and I can't lift them by hand anymore?

A: The pallets their maximum fillvolume got increased (roughly doubled), this means that any existing pallets are now half-full and any new pallets are heavier which prevents you from picking them up by hand.

  • Q: There's silage in my bunker that won't scoop up or uncover.

A: First you can try to get a conveyor belt to try and suck up as much silage as possible (don't have to but it avoids losses), afterwards, use the landscaping tool in the bunker and paint over the pieces of silage that can't be scooped up. --The reason why this happens-- Some chaff will have either spilled in the wall or out of the silo, due to some glitch this blends with the silage and stops you from scooping it up.

  • Q: My screen is washed out/white haze after updating to patch 1.3?

A: This is a known issue, disabling HDR will resolve it until it's patched.

  • Q: Where do I find my log? (The log is used to troubleshoot mod and game issues)

A: Your log can be found under Documents/Mygames/Farmingsimulator22. It will show as a txt file and can be opened with notepad.

  • Q: How do I access/check the dev console? (can be used instead of your log)

A: There's a good video guide on this from Farmer Klein

Mods
  • Q: Where can I see what mods are currently being tested?

A: Have a look at this link on the Giants forum which gets updated regularly.

  • Q: How do I install mods?

A - Console: In the main menu of the game you'll see the Downloadable content tab, from there you can install them. Ensure that you're seeing all the mods (instead of top only). Afterwards when you load a savegame you'll be able to tick the mods that you want for that particular savegame.

A - PC: PC players can get their mods from the Downloadable content tab, but they also have another option. You can download mods from the internet (preferably from trusted websites) and install them. To do this go to the following path "C:\Users[Your Username]\Documents\My Games\FarmingSimulator2022\mods" and copy the zip files there.

A - Mac: Installing mods on mac is similar to PC but for a detailed explanation please see this link.

  • Q: Do I need to download all the mods to enjoy the game?

A: No, certainly not, if you're a beginning player it might actually better to not add any mods for now.

  • Q: My game is giving me a weird behaviour (or isn't working) after installing some mods? -Mod Conflict-

A : Check the mods that you've installed, perhaps it's intended to do this. If it isn't you might be experiencing a mod-conflict. To diagnose this there are 2 options, if you're on PC check your log for any errors, if you can't find any or you're on console then open a new savegame and disable half your mods, if the behaviour repeats active half of those again, if it doesn't activate the other half and repeat this process until you found the one that's causing you trouble.
