I just found Arcade, missed him entirely when I played through years ago
He is now my favorite character
I remember being excited when I saw his name. I remember reading about the Van Buren (Interplay's cancelled Fallout 3) version of him on the Fallout Wiki.
This is wild to me coz I heard about Arcade ages before I heard about Fallout.

Hearing he was gay and seeing people complaining that they couldn’t romance him as female courier on the internet as a child.
I only cared about the gay part coz as a queer kid who didn’t know I was queer, I was just excited that there was a gay character in a game. Knowing what “Fallout” was came later.
Yeah, Arcade openly admits that he feels uncomfortable with honest communication and prefers joking and being sarcastic. This definitely struck me as him joking.
This is one of the reasons his companion quest feels so special to me. Here we have a guy who said he doesn't trust easily, doesn't like honest communication, and hides his past for a very real fear for his life. And yet he trusts the Courier to the point of having honest and open chats about his childhood. Really makes those gooder than good runs extra nice.

Honestly, I can deal with her asking me who's cuter out of two equally hot brains, her attempts at emotional blackmail when I have to change outfits for a quest, and I can even deal with it when she says "Starting combat! ... Just kidding."
But having to either ignore all that valuable MedX lying around, hide MedX on my companions as soon as I get any, or just let her turn me into an addict is so damn frustrating. Nowadays I'll wear her for OWB, then it's back to Joshua Graham's armour.
