I’m starting to think that some of these “feminists” actually ARENT
🇵🇷🇴🇹🇪🇸🇹Word of advice people! If literal NAZIS are standing by you when you get angry about something, please, for the love of all that is groovy, PLEASE check yourself.
Edit: This started a whole thing. Woe, some of you guys have zero chill, but I can see a lot of you mean to explore the grey zones between sides of debates. That's good! We should be engaging more and blindly hating less!
Now before you go "Hitler supported animal right! Do you like kicking puppies?" I suggest you read what I wrote again without looking for a reason to get angry.
Checking yourself and being sure of why you're standing for what you stand for on any given topic is important.
Being ready to call out people that are hateful matters. Being ready to facilitate tolerance and inclusion by standing against actual fascists matters. Just because its convinent to stand meet to a nazi doesn't make it the right thing to do. How many Germans thought that before 1939?
Anyway, stay groovy folks
I’m gonna steal “for the love of all that is groovy”. It’s amazing. Haha
“Grrrrrroovy!” -🪱
The amount of time I sat at the between-stage-minigame loading screen hitting the button to make Jim say grooooooovy over and over is kind of ridiculous.
Such a great game.
What you meant is
"GROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOGROOVY!"
"Yeah baby!"
“Well done.” -🐄
That pun took me decades to get. I was reflecting on the game in my 30s and…ohhh!!!!!!
Ohhh!!!!!!!
Stares at chainsaw-hand
“Groovy.”
I am shocked nobody has picked up on this yet. There’s been a lot of protests and civil unrest in the last few years and nobody seems to have learned that it matters who you stand with as much as it matters what you stand for/against. Whether it Nazis, or just anarchists.
What happened to all the people saying "if there are 10 people at a table with 1 nazi you have 10 nazis sitting at a table?" I guess that doesn't apply when you're the one sitting with the nazis huh?
Exactly. Maybe it’s just because I am Canadian but the Trucker Protest we had here is the clearest example of what kinda problems this creates. It started when truckers were removed from the essential workers list so wanted to protest and get back on the list (IMO a reasonable demand). At the end of the protest the most prominent request was to have an unelected coalition government consisting of the protesters and lift any covid related government restrictions. This all took place over a few weeks.
How the hell are truckers not considered essential workers? How do politicians think stores get stuff?
It happened near the end of Covid. Until then essential workers were allowed to avoid some of the Covid restrictions like mandatory quarantines. So just by removing them from the list the government added some pandemic restrictions to their lives. It can be argued that it makes sense to apply more health restrictions on people that travel the country regularly to prevent the spread. The for/against this change has resonable arguments from both side on the pros/cons. The escalation from both sides afterwards led to a lot of chaos, and continues to cause resentment for a lot of people to this day
A lot of non-trucker idiots also joined in on the protests because they just didn't want to follow the precautions despite taking virtually no effort or cost. If everyone properly followed precautions we could have gotten out of covid in maybe a bit over a month, but you just need a small handful of selfish people to totally undermine such efforts.
Valid point. The idiots brigaded any cause that questioned anything during Covid and turned them all into what we all saw, arguing with doctors, yelling at cashiers, etc, etc.
. It can be argued that it makes sense to apply more health restrictions on people that travel the country regularly to prevent the spread
Yeah, that does make sense. It's a complicated issue I guess
Truckers and other travelling essential workers should have had their own category, where they can move around but have to double down on masks etc while in contact with others, and minimise contact where possible (i.e. let store/warehouse staff load and unload where possible). But that requires both sides to operate on good faith and there are enough shit stirrers around this issue that it would have been difficult.
It's scary because people don't get what they want so they go "ok fine, I will get what I want one way or another"
If people feel powerless they may go to whatever means necessary to get what they want. Most of the time things aren't that bad,
But tensions can rise and something small can turn into something huge
Like yeah some people are just put there and delirious or just get overwhelmingly angry, but if a large amount of people get angry over something pretty reasonable that is getting ignored... then it becomes bigger and bigger until it cannot be ignored any more
When faced with feeling powerless one can either get sad or get angry. And angry can be dangerous, when it gets to the point you don't care about winning anymore and only spite you have to think about if it's worth it.
But nothing will ever change if people just keep accepting things that happen to them and do nothing, so it's a double edged sword
I refuse to acknowledge it as a protest as near the end they obstructed a hospital, potentially endangering innocent lives.
How on earth did you manage to pull anarchism in to this discussion?
When Kelly Jane Keene or whatever her name is came to Australia on an anti-trans tour, the people on her side claimed either it was a coincidence that Nazis showed up to support her, or that the Nazis were actually on the trans side.
The cognitive dissonance is strong.
I am shocked nobody has picked up on this yet.
Trans people say this all the time about TERF's, but not many people listen.
It has been picked up on, but whenever it gets mentioned all the prime TERFs shout and scream on social media and threaten to sue anyone who calls them out.
Does that include the conflict in Gaza?
Yes. You check yourself, make sure your logic is different, that your reasoning doesnt align, etc. Its always good to be sure.
Especially since the Nazis are using Gaza sympathy to recruit. It's not a coincidence that *spit* Stonetoss *spit* posted a bunch of Israel-critical comics that sound reasonable until you realize that he's trying to push fence-sitters down the path that leads from "Israel is committing genocide" to "all Jews are bad".
You have to be critical of what you read. Have. To.
leads from "Israel is committing genocide" to "all Jews are bad".
See this a lot on the internet, both ways, actually. Speeches condemning Israel for its actions (rightfully so) quickly become hate speech against Jews, or are deemed as antisemitic even when one is exclusively criticizing the way Israel is conducting its war.
Didn't an Israeli filmmaker just recently get declared to be Antisemitic and get a bunch of death threats in Germany for making a pro-Gaza film, and the German film festival that gave it an award is being threatened with being shut down?
A German politician who applauded both the Israeli director, and her Palestinian co-director had to backtrack by saying that no, actually they were just clapping for the Israeli and not the Palestinian who was standing right beside her.
It's also important to remember that there are Zionist antisemites as weird as it initially sounds. Some ethnic nationalists (Nazis basically) are for a Jewish state as they do not want Jewish people to exist in their country.
Being pro-israel and antisemetic are not mutually exclusive.
This is actually a huge part of the motivation behind the Balfour declaration and a big reason why Israel exists in the first place.
A big chunk of pro-Israeli voices historically were and continue to boil down to "If they're over there, we don't have to have them over here."
Yup the existence of Israel appeals to both religious nuts concerned with the rapture and white nationalists who want to use it as precedence for racial ethnostates.
I mean, if I got angry about animal cruelty Hitler would agree because he loved animals, that doesn't make loving animals bad. (Not defending jk rowling or her sit takes)
Every time I see someone comment this, it kills me a little bit inside. From the Wikipedia page about Hitler’s dog, Blondi:
Blondi played a role in Nazi propaganda by portraying Hitler as an animal lover. Dogs like Blondi were coveted as "germanische Urhunde", being close to the wolf, and became very fashionable during the Nazi era. On 29 April 1945, one day before his death, Hitler expressed doubts about the cyanide capsules he had received through Heinrich Himmler's SS. To verify the capsules' potency, Hitler ordered Dr. Werner Haase to test one on Blondi, who died as a result.
Hitler was absolutely not an animal lover. It was always propaganda, and yet I still see this “fact” shared over and over again.
No it doesn’t. But all the same, it can’t hurt to “check.”
Right? I mean, Hitler is standing right there. What the fuck are you doing? Get a knife!
She has recently seen an article about a trans woman blending a cat and murdering a man and all she gave a fuck about was the fact she was trans. These people are too far gone.
She never would have even noticed that story if they had been cis.
I think her “point” is that cis women never commit crimes.
She's going to announce that Bellatrix Lestrange was a trans woman
she doesn't need to, she already gives the evil women in her books big hands and mustaches
Omg I had forgotten all about Rita
Also, Umbridge is described as liking extremely "girly" things like pink dresses and porcelains but her "face is like a toad". In other words, an unfeminine-looking individual wearing extremely feminine clothes.
Goddammit, reading that just made me so angry
Evil men also have big hooked noses...
Hasn't she already claimed that the "evil transgender activists" are like the deatheathers or something?
Thank you for making "Death Heathers" my new band name
Bellatrix being trans would actually be awesome in the hands of a different author. But yeah I agree no good could come from Rowling doing this. Would make a potentially great fanfic though.
That was literally it.
She didn't want women to commit crimes in addition to her bigotry.
Has she ever commented on W-to-M trans? I only ever see her rail against men
Edit: fuck off if you defend JKR and her ilk. You deserve the life you have.
TERFs see trans men as at best misguided women, at worse traitorous perverts. Unsurprisingly there's no appeasing hateful bigots.
Yeah, a lot of the discourse I’ve seen tends to have this condescending view of FtM trans men as merely being “confused little girls” who somehow think that pretending to be men will shield them from misogyny.
Oh yeah, multiple people have accused me of having issues with internalised misogyny and that I’m trying to ‘escape’ the sexualisation of the female body by ‘pretending to be a man’. I’ve also have several of these people claim that this internalised misogyny was born out of trauma, sexual abuse/assault, and a poor relationship with my parents/father. Non of which are true…? I’ve never been assaulted or sexualised and have a great relationship with my family.
It’s so obvious they see me as a poor little thing who is so crushed by misogyny that I’ve grown to hate my womanly features because of it. They’re so fucking eager to tell me I’m an abuse victim, like what the fuck?
It pisses me off even more than being called a predator, because every single thing I say is twisted because of ‘trauma’ and not a single thing I say is trusted because I’m so ‘traumatised’ I don’t know myself. It’s infuriating. Like, it’s not that deep…
Sorry about that, my dude. If anyone is causing trauma, it's the bigots that keep trying to tell you who are.
It’s a strange thing really. To be facing more pushback and harassment than I ever have before yet feel the most confident and sure of myself than I’ve ever been. I can only assume this is me nearing true self acceptance, and that I must be doing something right, ahah
Gosh dude, i'm sorry. Do you think they actually believe that or are they just saying it hoping to get grip on you ?
I honestly have no idea. It’s like a shield they’re using so they can refute anything that comes out of my mouth. But I’m not sure they believe that shield, more that they are forcing themselves (albeit unknowingly perhaps) given I think it’s more born out of a complete lack of understanding for the way I feel about my own gender, body, and experience of femininity.
I think some genuinely think I’m struggling - I’d be lying if I said there were no detransitioners who have realised that their transition was a form of struggling with their own concept of womanhood, femininity, and the troubles/trauma that can come from it. Which I think is why they’re so eager to insist I’ve been abused or assaulted - it’s not uncommon for a woman whose experienced such to have a difficult relationship with sexualisation, womanhood, and maturing with a female body.
I also think some believe my identity is born out of misogyny itself, giving many have insisted that I’m somehow instilling sexist values by assuming I can’t be a woman and dress masculine/have short hair/feel more comfortable around men. And while I can understand their fear, I think it’s just that - fear. Particularly of the diversity and empowerment being taken away once again, similar to how they feel Dylan Mulvaney mocks womanhood (while I’m sure they’d have no qualms with a cis woman acting and dressing as such). But, we still see the butch community thriving, and androgynous and masculine woman thriving without the desire of transition.
For me it’s a lot less deep than what they make it out to be. Because I’d still transition if I was the last person alive. Because my identity, while yes has to do with how other perceive me, is more based about how I feel comfortable in my own body. I don’t care how the world perceives me as a woman, I’m not comfortable. And every single person I know in real life can see how much more comfortable I am now. Which makes me think that if they met me and actually got to know me, they would struggle with these ideas they’ve concocted in their mind about me when faced with just how evidently clear my comfort has grown.
A final point, given I’m aware this is a long comment though I could say much more, is that these same people who start out very pleasant and ‘sympathetic’ to me, when challenged, are often very fast to jump to ‘man in a dress’, ‘pervert’, ‘protect the kids’ bullshit. I think 98% of these people when tooth comes to nail are just downright transphobic. I think it’s masquerading as feminism to appear as an empowering, gentle approach. Yet in reality, you can often see through this due to their insistence I’m a woman, yet also complete disregard for any of my statements, feelings, or autonomy.
Ultimately, TLDR, I think they see it as a judgement of their own femininity and gender identity, and fear of a walk back on feminism (which I can’t blame them in some regards, particularly given the US’s state of affairs atm).
Be sure to introduce them to my German friends here, fresh from the Mines of Moria, the next time you see that happen.
Yeah, in her manifesto. She said they are confused autistic women.
Apparently her father wanted a son, and she didn't like typically feminine things like makeup or dresses, and wished she was a boy to please her father, and she went through a lot to accept herself as a woman.
And seeing young people "easily change genders" triggers her own mental issues.
She thinks trans men / FTM are just confused or self-hating women like how she was who are brainwashed by "trans activists", or they are autistic and don't understand femininity because of that, or mistake their autism for masculinity.
Of course, all these are exaggerations. There are autistic trans folks, but autism does not mean their gender dysphoria is not real. Yes, gender dysphoria includes attitudes towards dress/ makeup, but it is much more deeper than that, and is definitely not about wanting to be someone to please your father.
Trans men are left out of the conversation entirely.
It's almost like people that bring up these facts and stats are trying to say something.
Her first transphobic article was 90% about trans men. We get mentioned and hated often.
Hi. Trans guy. We're discluded when things like this get said, as well! I see this so often. Her entire thing that blew up? That tweet where she said "i think there's a word for that? Woben? Women?" That one? That was about trans men; specifically about language in healthcare used to include trans men and non binary people (and not falsely include trans women and cis women with hsyterectomies) instead of defaulting to "women" when talking about pregnancy and menstruation. A large swath of that huge manifesto she wrote is about the "trans contagion" infecting "confused autistic girls" (read: trans men!). She screeches a lot about trans women (all of her shit about "predatory men" and "bathrooms" and what have you is violent anti-trans woman rhetoric) but she doesn't solely swing at them.
Yes, she has. She buys into the "stolen butches" crap. But people love to ignore when people hate us too so you won't hear much about it
Being out of the conversation is both a blessing and a curse.
JKR is what's known as a TERF. Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist.
Many of these TERFs believe that cis women are superior to men and all other genders.
They hate trans men and think that trans men are women who strayed from the path of sacred womanhood or some shit.
And that trans women are men who are appropriating womanhood.
It's really fucked up.
What a braindead take from her. If you're gonna support women's rights, you can't infantilize them and ignore women's WRONGS /j but also /srs
I loved how she tried to do #notourcrimes
So cool that UK dental assistant that r*ped a 12 year old boy last month and Casey Anthony are your crimes
Yeah, I don’t see her commenting on articles about women committing fetal abduction (that’s when you cut the near term infant out of your pregnant victim) with #ourcrimes 🙄
What’s a “no tour crime”?
It's mostly for people in bands or on the tour de france.
She likely Googles "trans commits crime" at least once an evening just in case.
That post really showed her hand. Nobody was even posting about the article and out of nowhere she's like, "See, cat blender lady is trans!"
Okay. Thanks for letting us know, JK. Wtf?
If anything, thanks to that post we now have something to point to whenever her defenders come out of the woodwork and start that “she’s never actually said anything transphobic!” bullshit.
It’s easily the most unambiguously transphobic thing she’s said so far. Firstly, stating outright that trans women aren’t women, and second, being so hyper fixated on the fact that an article dared call a trans woman a woman that she chose to raise a stink about that and not the, you know, grotesque murder and animal cruelty bit.
It is quite frustrating because a lot of her fans think people hate her just because she wrote a few off-color tweets and nothing else, and that she supports trans people.
I have to tell them - just look on her twitter page. Look at the recent book she wrote. Listen to her interviews. It's not some secret, it is very out there.
That’s not as obvious at first glance. It especially wasn’t years ago when word was first getting around. Bigots have a knack for subtlety, for not quite saying something unambiguously bigoted, leaving a little plausible deniability and the inevitable “You’re too sensitive!”
I think the point in OP’s post says more than most quotes I’ve heard from her. She truly doesn’t care about women, she’s just obsessed with trans people.
Joanne has evidently never heard of cis women murderers like Canadian rapist and serial killer, Carla Homolka, or infamous Hungarian serial killer and child rapist Elizabeth Bathory, or else she would have never said anything this stupid.
Or maybe Joanne is just a bigot using her money and status to encourage transphobic politics and fund reactionary lobbyists like the Heritage Foundation who helped overturn Roe v. Wade and supported the recent Alabama IVF decision.
Who's to say which is the case? /s
Edit: Spelling
Homloka was/is pure evil
yeah and the #NotOurCrimes bullshit. start tweeting at her awful cases of white women doing terrible crimes, since she wants all trans people to take accountability for one person, we can do the same to her.
With the hashtag ‘not our crimes’. Presumably she accepts violent crimes by cis women as ‘her’ crimes.
Hundreds of people get shot every day in usa alone. One person gets murdered and happens to be trans.... and trans is the problem suddenly?
Yeah, nobody understands... its just one of those points some people get riled up about, so they try to make every issue related to it.

Yeah, i guess i phrased it poorly, just really odd that that's what she zoomed in on.
Blendered cat, a homicide..... and you're making sure everyone knows what gender they were. One of the most embarassing "aCkShUaLlY" moments in history.
an article about a trans woman blending a cat and murdering a man
I... What??
She's basically aligned herself with groups that claim women need to be raped in order to know their place in society.
I will take trans people over "more rape" any day of the week, thanks. It's not rocket science. I was a gay ally first, wasn't hard to become a trans ally.
Someone, might have been Bill Burr, said something along these lines: "Ohh, I'm so tired of people painting me with the same brush as these bigots! Well, you could try standing a bit further away from them." He also said that if you notice actual nazis marching besides you every time you protest, you are being a useful idiot.
I will always love and credit Bill Burr for dodging the giant "male anger to bigotry" pipeline.
He was raised with a very unhealthy image of masculinity and now has a wonderful relationship with Nia. It makes me happy things happened that way for him :)
Theres that one saying that goes “There’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis."
Guilty by association.
This is a very knowing and willing concession. People like Posie Parker (edited to correct inverted names) - who JKR endorses, defends, and funds - will outright say that outlawing abortion is fine because she cares about eradicating trans folks more than anything.
Don’t forget that Posie Parker is very comfortable courting literal Nazis into her coalition.
I was trying to be pithy (despite my original name mistake) rather than exhaustive, but yes, obviously one of her signatures is her willingness to partner with literally anyone who also hates and wants to erase trans people. Maybe even said she’d match alongside the devil himself to destroy trans women? It’s so hard to keep track of the totality of sheer hatred these days.
I dunno if you saw the Shaun video about Kelly, but fuck I love that interview where the terfs in had a meeting with her saying, "You know that nazis show up to your events right?" And then she just didn't care, and low and behold a bunch of nazi showed up at her let women speak events.
She literally said she would stand with the devil himself.

The very same!
Youu mean the women who has neo nazis show up to her events in support
I think it's worth making the point that Posie Parker doesn't just have neo-nazi groups show up to her events, but she's gone on record multiple times saying that she's happy to share her platform with nazis on this issue.
Like when she says anyone with an anti-trans agenda is welcome to turn up and speak at her events, and some of her more conscious associates ask for clarification of "though surely when you say anyone you don't mean people like nazis" she's happily clarified that yes, she means nazis as well, because to her being anti-trans is more important than not being a nazi.
How many times has she spelled out "I will stand beside the devil himself" while banging her fist on a table?
I remember that compilation Shaun showed in his video about her, but I didn't count how many clips there are.
OMFG!!
*Posie Parker. Not the same people at all.
Yep! I make that mental mistake all the time. I’ll correct it (not to make you look silly).
Wasn't Posie Parker also the one who asked for armed men to come into bathrooms to protect her from the "Evil Trans". Caused the apparently its more of a chance of being raped by a transwomen then an armed strange man you invited into the bathroom with you. /s
Parker Posey or Posie Parker?
I corrected it to avoid defaming actress Parker Posey, who I know nothing about on a personal level but who can’t possibly be 1/100th the fuckwad Posie Parker is.
Tomato soup lady
A lot of her rabidly transphobic BFFs are hardcore anti-choice loons who rally with literal Nazis. Joanne has well and truly lost the plot. But then, plot was never her strong suit, anyway.
Yeah, didn't she start a cis-women only shelter and everyone else involved is a who's who of shady corrupt assholes? You have people from the prison industry involved. For a feminist she surrounds herself with oppressive conservatives.
-just looked it up again. It's shady as fuck. It's not registered or licensed in any way. There's no accountability whatsoever. No one on the board has any experience working with survivors of SA. The person I'm thinking of from the prison industry was accused of running a prison with "Victorian era" conditions including telling women to pee in sinks. And everyone else involved are anti-trans political extremists. No one involved has a history in helping women, only hurting trans women...and also cis women.
She’s in a cult, of course they would convince her to open up a recruitment center…lovely.
she is an oppressive conservative herself. Terfs are conservative "feminists" who actually love traditional gender standards. I mean, a not insignificant portion of them are middle-aged housewives.
"a bilion points to gryffindor for these 3 delinquents breaking all the rules and constantly putting themselves and others into harms way!"
oh also this stupid cup is the most important part of the year
„And this boy who was legally not allowed to play…while our school already has a contender….WILL PLAY AND FIGHT AGAINST A DRAGON.“
Also one of the games is that WE CHAINED YOUR LOVED ONES TO THE BOTTOM OF LAKE LOL BETTER FIGURE OUT A WAY TO SAVE THEM BEFORE THEY DROWN, BITCH!
The main character survived a magical bullet to the head because, of all the people the villain killed, Harry was the first one to have people love him.
It's because his mother was knowingly given the choice to save herself but refused it, but - yeah, it still seems like that's a scenario that would've happened once or twice already in history, don't you think?
i've actually never thought about that too hard....
i guess witches & wizards don't usually have unconditional love for anybody 🤷♀️
Tbf at least that one is eventually explained in the last book, it's not only that Lilly loved Harry, it's that Voldemort gave her a choice bcs of Snape. I think movies just skip that part.
Harry: “Sir, you’re the most powerful wizard on Earth, I have free will, and no consequences for refusing to compete have been spelled out.* Are you sure there’s nothing that can be done?”
Dumbledore: “No one disrespects the cup, sorry kid 🤷♂️”
*might be wrong about there being no consequences spelled out... been a decade since I read the books
Pretty sure you're correct.
"IT'S A MAGICAL CONTRACT!"
So, get a magical lawyer and some Veritaserum. Because Harry was a minor, even by "magic rules," and he also didn't put his name in the Goblet of Fire.
Magical contract fraud should not be binding on anyone, let alone literal children.
I would imagine at least the other two schools would get a lawyer involved. I mean, how did they know freaking Hogwarts didn’t cheat to get 2 contenders vs their one contender
A character does almost immediately bring up this point. Something about giving the school "two bites at the apple."
You see… we have to get him through this massive year-long tournament because it’s so urgent that the Dark Lord gets his body back! No, we can’t just turn his toothbrush into a portkey! Where’s the entertainment?
Side along apparition? oh, yeah, that always existed and doesn't make any plot holes whatsoever.
When you go back and look at how major plot points would drastically affect the future plots or previous ones (like Time Turners) and how she patches those holes in later books (aka breaking ALL the Turners...as if they'd be kept in a cabinet you could just knock over...)
The time turners thing actually did work the way she originally wrote it. My interpretation of them when I first read the book was that you could only go back in time to change things that you didn't know happened. For instance, they could go back and save Buckbeak because they didn't see him die, just heard the "swish and thud of an axe" which actually turned out to be the executioner swinging his axe into a fence post. On the other hand, when Hermione accidentally skived off charms she couldn't go back in time to get to class because Harry and Ron told her that she wasn't there. If you look at book 3, everything they do follows that rule. It works perfectly.
But then SHE HAD TO GO AND FUCKING RUIN THAT WITH "THE CURSED CHILD!!!" The whole plot of that play revolves around Harry's son going back in time to stop Lilly and James dying, which was an extremely well established event in universe! That was when I lost my respect for her as a writer. One of the best examples of internal logic for time travel, and she didn't even realize she had done it, then smashed it to pieces...
Heck, he’s a teacher to a high school student. A student that knows little about the world, let alone the wizarding world. “Harry, quick apparate with me to the ‘ministry,’ we have to take care of an administrative issue.”
Dumbledore said calmly
At this point I see her as the English version of Graham Linehan. They were both creators of beloved works and generally well thought of, but somehow lost their minds over trans people and became polarising.
Orson Scott Card. The Ender series was literally anti bigotry, and yet he became a homophobe.
Speaker for the Dead was the book that taught me to try to understand people and really grasp how much bigger a person is than the side of then I see. I read it when I was young, and fuuuuck the Speaker for the Dead concept was so good and cool, and solving things with the piggies by understanding ad working to find a solution that hurt no one? As a Trans woman without a violent bone in her body, that book was wonderful, and I hope, if he ever learns of my existence, it grinds his gears his book helped a queer Trans woman accept herself.
This comment makes me absurdly happy
I've heard many LGBT people say the same about Harry Potter. It's unfortunate that these writers are so tone deaf to their own works.
Card has always used his Mormon religion in his writings, even in the Ender's Game series. His Homecoming series was very similar to the later Ender's Game books. While these books were overtly religious, it was with a theme of harmony between people no matter how different they are.
But around 20 years ago Card bought into Conservative conspiracy theories, and did serious damage to his ability to write.
The later Bean novels were all about getting married so they could be fruitful and multiply. They had Anton (the guy who found the gene in Bean) happily go from being gay to being married to a woman.
Great books, but they'd have been better without the skydaddy crap
A lot of his religious inspired works were hidden by allegories that you had to be Mormon to notice. Otherwise the messages in his books were all based around being chill with other people no matter if they are ants, bats, trees, AI etc.
The Enpire series is where his religious influences took a darker turn in his books.
His fall was insane. Married with kids, and a successful career. All of it was lost to argue with some Twitter randos, just to get other Twitter randos to agree with him.
I’m still pissed about that because I loved Black Books. Fuck that guy and his transphobia
do what I do and just credit all the jokes and humour to any of the other writers. Both Black Books and Father Ted had Arthur Matthews as a writer, so I tend to credit him with everything in my head. Immature? Maybe, but hating a creator doesn't mean you can't enjoy their works. Separating art from the artist is a legit philosophy.
Dylan Moran co-created Black Books and also wrote it along with Kevin Cecil, Andy Riley, and Arthur Mathews. Linehan was only ever a part of it, not the sole driving force.
Yeah, Glinnyboy helped it get off the ground but he didn't write any episode after the first series.
Sadly, that doesn't work for The IT Crowd. I just try and convince myself that something broke in him and he's simply not the same person he used to be. Sort of like remembering your Gran as she was before dementia took hold.
She went crazy because one of her 'friends' was being held off twitter because he wouldn't delete an offensive tweet. The tweet said something along the lines of Trans people are a bigger danger to gay people than Aids ever was. When he finally deleted the tweeted she welcomed him back with a tweet calling him a friend and saying how great a guy he is
It's wild to think that people are genuinely shocked that she is the way she is. What her writing and post release ""world building" didn't give it away?
"uuuh, duuuuh dumbador is gay!" conveniently when there's rather active questioning on her stance toward gay people because of how the narrative around werewolves she wrote "shocking" mirrors gay panic bullshit.
The whole plot around elves and slavery and how Hermione was "in the wrong" about abolition for the elves. Which is also something that was used for the last video game.
And more, both that I have forgotten about and don't even know.
Meanwhile all the trans people I know have been posting about these issues nonstop and organizing mutual aid for refugees...
Ppl are kinda hyper focused on that tiny group of harmless people. Think they call it a moral panic. Humans at their worst
Fr
Meanwhile abortion/birth control/body rights etc have been a mainstay in the trans community over the years
I mean it makes sense why would someone who was forced to be someone they are not stick up for anything that gave away control of your own body
(Not including the pickme republican trans assholes who believe they wouldn't get a scratch from the people who hate them) >_>
If your going to hate trans people on the terms that your for women and children than atleast round out your argument, this is telling that not only is jk bigoted but she is also dumb as rocks >_>
They will always throw their fellow cis women under the bus. Look at how Caroline Farrow, Helene Staniland, and "Posie Parker" decided to back a staunch anti-woman candidate.
When I asked them why they would support a man who wants to remove their voting rights, the only answer I got was "he's pro free speech." Which is obviously a lie, because he wants to strip that from them.
Wasn't until a year or two later that I discovered that it was based on only one key issue: he was most assuredly a misogynist. But he's also even more of a hater of trans rights.
TL;DR version: haters gonna hate.
This lady is rich af, she doesn't give a shit about women's rights, money gets you a lot in this country, sadly.
No one considers JK a feminist anyway
I've actually brought up to TERFs that there's a far much more prevalent problem in prison for there not to be enough menstrual products for cis women than a few cherrypicked cases of trans women in prison sexually assaulting cis women (FWIW usually it's prison staff/guards doing the assaulting, and occasionally other cis women). They don't care, they went back to their cherrypicking a completely different topic where trans woman = bad. Some fucking feminists.
J.k.r isn't the Queen of Feminists
And feminism isn't just talking about things involving women, it's about doing something about it, ensuring that all women can be included, heard, protected
If you don't think so, you're not a feminist
At its core, feminism is about equal rights for all. It should be in everyone's interest to make sure all people have the same rights, equal pay for similar work, the same safety and protection, the same career opportunities etc. If you believe a woman should have the same rights as a man, surely you would support a trans person having the same. Or a coloured person, or a person with disabilities. If you don't support everyone having these rights, then it's about protecting privilege instead, becomming what it was supposed to fight.
I lump her in with the Dilbert guy, Scott Adams. Surely they have better things to do then obsess about how other people live their lives.
Thank goodness Stephen King remains a inspiration.
TERFs are FARTs (feminist appropriating reactionary transphobes)
Honestly calling her a "TERF" was giving her way too much credit.
JK Rowling has always been a panderer and not an actual activist. She used to try to pander to a progressive audience but then trans women existing was just too much for her so now she panders to a terf/right wing audience. She, like most terfs, doesn't actually care about feminism.
Rowling is a transphobic "friend of literal Nazis" and anyone who doesn't know this is simply ignorant of the facts.
Isn’t that just the best?
Like, there are people in this world that would make her their slave. There are people in the world that would end her. There are people in her country that want to force her into marriage or pregnancy. There are people in her city that want to take away her rights.
And what does she tweet about? A transwoman wanting to pee.
She’s in England
Yea i was wondering same thing. I dont like her but this is peak /r/USdefaultism
I think she lives in Scotland, but yeah, the only tweets I see on Google from her (don't have a Twitter account) are all about British news.
Yeah this whole post is a big "sir this is the internet not America" moment lmao
I remember there being a single article about roe v Wade overturned, and since then no one gives a fuck about what happens in fucking Wyoming 💀💀💀
Her hate for men is greater than her love for women. Once you look at it that way, her transphobia makes more sense
See her recent comments about the cat murderer they caught? She made that a trans thing, too. The woman is unhinged and needs to ask herself some serious questions about her own sexuality.
I saw that comment. She’s real quick to tell people not to judge all women for the actions of individual women. But judges all trans women for the actions of cis men. It’s real weird (to put it very nicely).
Yeah, I’ve long felt the core of Rowling’s transphobia was misandry. She really REALLY hates men. I think it goes back to her abusive marriage in 1992 that she’s never gotten proper trauma treatment for.
You can spot this in her work. Like the fact that boys are not allowed in girls dorms in Hogwarts, but girls are allowed in boys dorms. Because the founders "trusted" girls more.
I always thought the inclusion of that detail was off.
Yeah you’ll note that she really only goes after MtF trans people if you pay attention. Not that it makes it any better obviously.
She's actually answered this! She claims that trans men are OK because they are only women seeking to escape the oppression of the patriarchy. So it's not that trans men simply view this as their identity and want to live the life they want to live. Men just make them hate being women so much they'd rather be men. And if it wasn't for men they'd continue to be women.
So she manages to attempt to support trans men by demeaning their intent and also blaming men.
"Being trans is fine as long as it isn't a part of your identity!"
No. She went after FtM too, saying they're just doing it because being a woman is hard and they're just taking an easy way out by pretending to be men. That woman is sick.
That’s not totally true, she went after Noah Finnce (FTM) because he called her out for being a bigot in song.
This. Rowling was pretty much an out and out misandrist before she ever hooked into the transphobia. They're definitely strongly linked for her.
Because JK Rowling, like all TERFS, cares more about hurting trans people to the point of siding with the same people going after their rights.
I can't imagine hating a group so much that you rub shoulders with racists, fascists and misogynists just because they also hate that same group.
To make your whole identity hate, it's a sad life to live.
Stop expecting the 1% to give a flying fuck about anything.
TERF without the F
Should call them TEs instead of TERFs cause theyre nothing radical or feminist about them
Reactionary dumbasses. TERDs
She has made it really hard to enjoy anything Harry Potter. I’m surprised they’re still making movies and reboots and HP world frankly since she’s inserted herself so aggressively into the subject.
My son is only just starting to learn about HP from his older cousins and I want to let him enjoy it but I just hate her so much.
Intersectionality is real
TERF (It's tough to tell, but the "F" has a strikethrough)
Just a TER these days.
"Women of Congo or Gaza"
Are you forgetting a significant case of sexual violence as a military tactic against women adjacent to Gaza?
Excuse me? For the last 18 years (and more) hamas and the PA have raped, killed and attacked countless women, they film it online, never saw a liberal cry for all this women, it's somehow just when Israel is involved, a case which only has testimonies somehow concrete for y'all I remember when it used to be "guilt has to be proved in court, innocent until proven otherwise"
Don’t forget about the women of Israel too; kidnapped, raped, and still waiting for rescue from the clutches of Hamas.
She's not a feminist. She's a self appointed gatekeeper of identity who thinks she matters because people keep giving her their money.
An actual feminist supports trans rights and stands for equal rights for all genders. Transphobes like JK Rowling aren’t feminists, they’re just assholes.
Not to support JKR, but are you only allowed to claim to support certain issues if you post about it on social media?
For example, I haven't posted anything on my Facebook for the past 4 years. Does that mean that I can't say I'm against racism since I haven't publicly commented on racial issues on the other side of the planet?
