Ight but why can’t these maps be rotated back in
QuestionI mean they did well with giving some maps tunnels, cannons, portals to different sides...
I also wouldn't mind a smaller map like Emerald Coast that just has different enemies and visuals.
Cannons?
The Tangled Shore map used to have the "human cannons" seen in activities like Ketchcrash or the Inverted Spire strike.
Huh. I remember the map (the one with the pits of goo everywhere right?) But don't remember the - OH YEAH as I type that I remember one of them would shoot you into a tiny little vestibule building and sometimes wouldn't shoot right and launch you straight into the goo instead.
Yeah, that along with the boss stomping you into the goo was one of the reasons people hated it and got it removed from rotation.
I didn't like it much either, but I'm so tired of Deep Six that I'd gladly take it now.
I don’t care about playing different I just want to be looking at something other than the same 3 maps all the time
Every season should have at least 1 new strike... they're well known to reuse so many assets anyways.
But should be getting just a tad more but this season does feel like it has a bit more to do then season 17, god that was awful.
Eh I enjoyed season 17, while I would’ve enjoyed the seasonal gamemode being instanced instead of a public event, I enjoyed the public event not as much as the psyops/ketchcrash this season but I had fun, I think they challis retool the ketchcrash missions and make them strikes somehow at the end of this year, and I feel like psyops will be added to the rotation like with battlegrounds
Honestly, if they just brought the Dreaming City map back, I’d be happy. No clue why they removed it.
They did have Kell’s Grave, but for whatever reason they deleted it even though there’s already ridiculously few maps as it is.
Any hope we’ll ever get a new map, or is it too low on priority?
Probably too low. I think crucible maps would be a higher priority because of higher player numbers, but we all know how that’s been going.
EAZ would make for a WONDERFUL gambit map, tbh. Maybe shrink it a tiny bit, but it's like it was BUILT for it!
Just use the spire of stars boss room
they could make a dreaming city one with a couple different islands and a palace type or amphitheater area. lots of options and even if the three maps were layout dubs different visuals would be nice
There actually was a dreaming city gambit map that fit that exact description, but it was sunset some time ago.
lmao what? those fools
And not to mention 2/3 Gambit maps are on sunset locations
There is lore that explains why we still have gambit and crucible maps on sunset locations. It's was added in S12. Immediately after they were removed.
Because they are simulation?
Yes
Then let’s simulate the rest…
Shaxx dropped the flashdrive
And spilled Mara's bathwater on it
Titan Bonk. Go to horny prison of elders
Bold of you to assume such place can hold me
It's not to hold you. It's to give us time to prepare.
Better than the prison of horny elders.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen this morning LOL
I bet he put it in the wrong way and just tried to force it in instead of flipping it, titan style
I wish
Riven wants to know your location
drifter hacks the lighthouse and hosts gambit there.... just sayin
Yeah, that was hilarious. Just one line of “oh btw the Cult of Osiris cracked how to simulate things without the Infinite Forest” that I’m not sure is still in the game anymore at this point.
Then literally every map can come back. Lol
Well Mars is back so its only 1/4 now
Bro blocked me lmao
Yeah but the planet is back
Dude, the guy is literally saying the planet is back. The physical celestial body that exists in space. At no point does he say Mars is back as a destination that we can go to patrol-style. He is simply making the point that the planet exists in Destiny's Sol System again, so we could potentially get old maps back in PvP gamemodes (with the explanation for doing so not being the map is a simulation), which in no way would require the actual patrol destination to exist. It's not a matter of files. It's the simple fact that Mars exists again.
I think they just mean story wise mars is in the game. In the story it’s somewhere we can travel to even if it’s just one area
We aren't talking about in game playability. The planet of Mars was returned in witchqueen. So lore wise the crucible maps and gambit maps are back too
Now explain dead man's tale mission being gone.
It's actually funny how hard you missed the point there
“ACKCHYUALLY” ☝️🤓
this individual has evidently never played on gambler’s ruin
Yea, I thought everyone hated that map. I actually liked the Leviathan one though.
Emperor's Respite was good, but it's WAY too small for 6v6. It'd have to be exclusive to smaller gametypes like Rumble or Elimination if it came back.
I really enjoyed Gambler’s Ruin but I’m an average PVP player at best.
Or Mayhem, tiny mappa with ridiculous ability uptime is fun even if you get stomped out just because of how easy it is to find an engagement on every square foot of map.
I liked gambler's ruin-
Absolutely see why it was hated but i just kinda liked it.
Same, I really enjoyed the chaos of everyone being on radar at all the time
Yeah i don't like it at all. It feels like they accidently made this map too small.
Cathedral of dusk is back and it's already one of my favourite maps in D2.
Gambler's Ruin can't move in because it's horrible garbage. Imagine that tiny shit in Arc 3.0, Titans bout to get shoulder charge kills from first spawn.
Would it not be good for a 3v3 map? Just curious because I’ve heard from some PVP players that there’s too many big maps
No, God no. At least if you're considering comp. I still remember those tiny hallways where one guy with a shotgun could hold, and it's just way to small for anything other than like a 1v1. Not to mention the horrible side balance for any comp playlist
Okay that makes sense. Are there any D1 maps you’d think would play well in D2? It seems as though they don’t transition well because we’re just so fast that the maps feel too small, especially for 6s
I'm not sure that any d1 maps belong in d2, a lot of them were made for a very different time and you can still feel that, I don't know if you've had the displeasure of playing control on the "new" map but people spawn really close and it really only takes one or two turns to see a person on a point from wherever you spawn, that and mid and sides don't feel that good. That's really my problem with d1 maps, I adore some of these returned maps in d1 but they don't fit destiny 2s fast and special centric meta, the only exceptions I'd make is I think the huge maps with sparrows and turrets might breath new life into pvp
I think that Asylum, the Drifter and any of the Cabal maps would do okay in D2, though Asylum might be a hair too small for how fast we are now.
Yeah see I loved seeing Cathedral of Dusk come back because I love being back on the Dreadnaught. That being said yeah the spawns have been not great but that’s not native to this map nor D1 reprised maps. That’s a Bungo thing
That's fair
There’s definitely smaller maps in rotation right now
Gambler’s Ruin can rot in the depths of hell for all I care
Spawn kill, the map
Yea hope it never comes back
Both kinda sucked.
I just want my meltdown back
would rather have brand new maps ngl
Bungie: we think we can do better. So how's about no maps for a couple years?
I hated the scavengers den.
I want the one back where the map was just a big ring on a cabal ship above Mars
That map taught me the way of the shotgun ape. Some days I miss it...
Imagine how insane we all would have gone trying to deal with pre-nerf stasis in there
If only
Fuuuuuuck that. I forgot about this map tbh. I fucking miss it.
Even with current Stasis it'd be wonky. Glacier Grenades would be SO ANNOYING!
A single behemoth could lock down half the map lmao
And it would be glorious
I remember the laser show with hard light during season of arrivals
It wasn't one of my favorites, but I was still surprised when they took it out of the game. Felt like a balanced map that accommodated multiple play styles
Retribution was one of my all-time favorite maps, and easily one of the most unique designs we’ve ever gotten. A lot of the new and reprised maps like Widow’s Court and Disjunction are just generic wide open spaces with some buildings and one or two lanes splitting them in half. I miss having weird and unique Crucible maps, and Retribution was definitely that, along with one of the coolest setpieces in the game.
I even love the lore of the map. Yes, it has lore. That being Shaxx and his Redjacks decided to still put the hurt on the Cabal during the Red War, and seized the ship Retribution takes place on.
I remember reading that and wondering “well okay sure but why the FUCK didn’t they take the ship back to the Last City?” Seriously - an intact, fully-operational warship built by a vastly technologically superior alien empire, complete with functional FTL drive? What more could you ask for? Hell, if we COULD capture alien ships, why haven’t we? The City fleet is still entirely composed of small ships based on technology that’s hardly changed since the Golden Age. You’d THINK we’d be at least building a few large craft, and have reverse-engineered better shields, armor, warp drives and so on from alien tech by now.
Retribution I think. One of my favourites :)
Yea, I'm always surprised people hated that one. It was quite intense. Imagine momentum control on that one.
Momentum control on that map was insane. It was like shipment in cod and i loved it. Back when graviton one tapped in momentum (but nobody ever used it) i was a menace to society
Which one was this?
Retribution
why
I honestly miss the dreaming city map.
I understand why it was removed, but man that map was fun for all the wrong reasons
The entire map was basically just three lanes and everyone just used the one on the outside, and if you were a good enough sniper you could lock the entire lane down and control the whole match. It was so much fun to do, not as much fun to be on the receiving end
I can only imagine how bad that map would have been with pre-nerf stasis lmao
That is a fair point. I remember players chilling at those circular windows with snipers on occasion.
The top map sucked ass for control. I believe it was the outside spawn that could VERY easily hold map control, and 2/3 points with lots of cover.
Apparently it takes a fair amount of manual labour to move maps over to the new engine, hence why they chose the ones they believed were the most popular.
Because the tangled shore map sucked ass
Because they’re bad
Cause they were crap maps. You miss it cause of nostalgia, they were removed cause they were crap./vaulting(unpopular)
I've left reddit because of the API changes.
For PvP They are so bad. So please No.
leviathan would have to be revamped to the Haunted fit, and tangled shore is just gone
We have a couple of maps that take place on Titan and Mercury. That one map on Nessus still has The Leviathan in the sky
That one map on Nessus still has The Leviathan in the sky
What
Yeah, its skybox was never updated when the Leviathan dipped in season 12
I miss the Mars maps the most.
Retribution was simply mad chaotic fun cos of the circular layout. Meltdown was kinda like a Mars version of Jav-4. Solitude wasn't the most fun but is pretty balanced.
When we first got to see stasis for the first time, my initial thought was about how crazy it would be on retribution between glacier nades and behemoths
And then they said that retribution was leaving
Bungie robbed us of a horrible amazing thing
Gamblers ruin sucks that's why
I agree with the top map so much. Loved it
If we had a playlist like in BO2 Back in the days (Nuketown 24/7) in Destiny i'd be happy. Just make it Endless Vale or Javelin. I dont care that these are in the game since day1, they just work.
Holy crap I forgot about the top one
Say what you will about pvp now, but both of those maps were not good for the health of PvP. Emperor’s Respite was horribly unbalanced for 3v3 play and was below average at best for 6v6. Gambler’s Ruin was just flat out bad for 6v6 play and would only have the potential to be okay for 3v3. It had horrible spawn traps and a chaotic design with tons of tight corners making it near impossible to get into proper large team fights.
Not gonna lie, I was away from the game for a long time and when I come back I was kinda disappointed to see almost only D1 maps in the rotations. Personally I never liked pantheon and exodus blue, sad to see them back in the game again.
I hope more D2 maps will be brought back or even better brand new ones.
Gambler's ruin is dog shit wtf are you talking about?
Gambler's Ruin sucked ass, that's why.
Those are really bad maps, glad they're gone
Cause the locations are vaulted, and in "lore" and "story" terms it wouldnt make sense
We still have maps on Io, Titan, Mercury and Mars, so that's not it. Canonically, maps on vaulted destinations are actually simulated using Vex tech.
These 2 maps were most likely removed because they SUCKED ASS!
I have no idea why they can't just bring back the old Strikes as well.
Although they did mention they are bringing some older Strikes back in Lightfall.
Because "muh install size" as if CoD and Ark Survival aren't 300GB.
If people want to play your game, install size doesn't change anything. Making this game 100GB is nothing by modern standards.
Buddy, vaulting wasn't about install size. It was about what it was doing on the development end
STOP asking for REPRISED/RESKINNED content FFS. How about something NEW? Enough of the copy pasted content from 8 years ago.
:5679:
Because these were the 2 worst maps in the game
because theyre better than eternity and we cant have people leaving matches to get a better map now can we
If you think Gambler’s Ruin is better than eternity, you have never played on Gambler’s Ruin
Clearly you never played either of these maps. Emperor's Respite sucks for anything that isn't Rumble or Elimination, and Gambler's Ruin is a contender for Worst Map in Destiny History.
ive played on both of them plenty, id much rather have clown fiesta maps than teamshotwithscoutrifles.exe the map
I want the top map and citadel in the dreaming city back.
1st can come back. 2nd should’ve stayed a PlayStation exclusive.
i play since worth and i only been in the top map once and this is my first time seeing the bottom one
Might be because the destination is vaulted too? They said that to shrink download size of the game they vaulted content, so i suppose it's just not in the live build of the game and reintroducing old maps back is not in the priority
Crucible and Gambit maps aren't tied to the actual destinations. We still have maps on Io, Titan and Mercury that were never vaulted, plus a Gambit map on Mars. The canonical reason is that they're simulated using Vex technology.
Why can’t all of the maps they deleted be put in the rotation?
Scavenger's den is so tiny though, it was horrible for 6v6
and meltdown? pretty please
Huge missed opportunity for Bungie to add one seasonal themed map each season, even if they are returning maps
Emperors respite was easily one of, if not the worst map in the game. The tangled shore one (dont even remember the name) was.........fine I guess. It's just another shotgunners paradise just like 80% of the other maps in the game
People hated Gambler’s Ruin and Emperor’s Respite was only good in rumble
Yoooo i used to love those maps how did i forget????
I liked both of these maps a lot I never understood why they were removed
Gambler's ruin is a dog shit map, we don't want or need it back.
Donut cabal map too. And for the love of god, can we finally remove the A spawn trap hellhole that is dead cliffs?!
These maps suck. Granted it doesn’t seem like that matters to Bungie since they brought back Vostok.
Gamblers ruin was the only crucible map somehow worse than wormhaven and thus should be forgotten for the rest of time
I want retribution back so damn bad
Those look amazing and I’m sick as hell of the current gambit maps i over did it on gambit last season.
absolutely not
Emperors Respite would be such a fun Gambit map. Especially if Calus occasionally interjected his own commentary.
Because they’re terrible and horribly unbalanced. Not saying others that are in aren’t, but you asked :)
new gambit map would be nice
Because they’re bad
Seriously though they’re so cool.
gamblers ruin sucks ass don't bring it back
I just miss midtown. It was great for sniping and had some long sight lines or you could crush corridors with a shotgun.
D2 is the only game where they make you pay for base game (not anymore, but back in the day), DLC (both manor and minor separately), seasons and cosmetics, and after all that they actually take content you paid for away from you.
“Lore”
The first one could never come back and I would be perfectly happy. I hated that map, especially on control.
No, that gambit map was ass it can stay dead. I would like the other old ones to return though I liked them well enough
Can you imagine how dope the leviathan map (don’t remember the name) would be with egregore everywhere?
Keep gamblers ruin vaulted pls. It's too small for 6v6 and it's pure garbage.
People hated them so fucked ng much lmao, i liked them a lot
The shore is on par with the edz
Agreed, these and others should come back, none actually use destination common playable locations.
Gamblers ruin can stay the fuck away. I hated it before, it'd be even worse now with how much faster the game is.
That tangled shore map, I'm no fan of. It'd be even more hectic now with today's loadouts.
The leviathan map would just be scout rifles and snipers galore.
Probably my 2 favorite PvP maps, would love to see these back in the game.
Bottom map was cool, I'll pass on having a Trials of Jade weekend again if the top map is added back
Because they were both awful?
Like, literally two of the worst maps we've ever had.
because they are shit
Aren’t these some of the most disliked maps?
Bungie vaulting gambit and crucible maps was one of the worst decisions they have made, they could have made a seasonal rotation like rainbow six siege has done, but they outright deleted them from the game, and now we have been stuck with 2+ year old maps to play on, most of them shipping with the red war, and I’m mad that not enough people are talking about this.
The bottom map brings joy the top map brings sadness.
Both these maps are fucking garbage
HARD NO to that second map. Not sure if you remember but that map was literally the worst designed control points map of all time, ever.
Two of the most hated maps in Destiny 2 lmao
Why indeed…
Cus they fucking sucked bro
Because Redditors who never played PvP to begin with cried for years about “long range maps” so now we have Eternity, Disjunction and Vostok (which also appear twice as often as other maps for some reason) to deal with. I would love my re D2 maps back as I believe they work WAY better and look better then the old D1 maps.
Bottom one was awful……. The sightlines and lanes will make you vomit. Leviathan one aint that bad tbh, would definitely make a cool gambit map
You forgot the shitpost tag, these maps were dreadful
Leviathan is gone That other map isn't real
well the levi one is literally just destiny 2s rework of the dreadnaught map that literally just came back
There's still a titan(moon) map in crucible
Sure with the leviathan one but that tangled shore one was objectively dogshit. I’d gladly trade anomaly for the Levi one tho.
Because reasons
Unpopular opinion: these maps sucked.
Cus the bottom one is a god awful map
Personally I always liked the dreaming city map. A lot of that is the aesthetics, but If they could make changes so the spawns don't constantly flip I think it'd be worth putting back in.
I totally forgot that bottom map ever existed.
I’d give a lot to have emperor’s respite back. As well as countdown
Bring back Legions Gulch, Equinox, Solitude, Meltdown and Retribution. All the others can stay gone.
Firebase Echo only had fights in spawn or the bridge.
The map flow of Emperor's Respite was too slow.
The map flow of Gamblers Ruin was too fast.
For D1 maps I'd really like to see Last Exit, Floating Gardens and Blind Watch for 6s. I'd also like to see Sector 618 and Asylum for 3s.
Also if we don't get a Neomuna map with Lightfall that will be more of a wanted opportunity than not making one for the Splicer Vex Network or the Braytech Science aesthetics.
Because Gambler's Ruin was a poorly-designed map that allowed for spawn-trapping within the first 30 seconds of a match.
I don't see why they can't use that Solstice Map where we did Bonfire Activity added to be a Gambit Map
Cause they suck
I’d love a Gambit map on the derelict leviathan tbh, it feels like the perfect place for Drifter to set up some shady business. But it’s tough to make a Gambit map that plays in a different, interesting way from every other Gambit map in the game.
