Persian in Croydon

Hiya, I am Persian Asian moved to London and I choosen Croydon area for Livin because it felt better for residence, I am basically new to area and also to country. I don't know anyone here in this area and country and will like to know and make some friends here 💯💯 I am (26 M) , and will.also appreciate some nice places nearby to visit and explore

Welcome to Croydon and welcome to the UK. What sort of places and things to do are you after? Lots of things to do around - ranging from restaurants, coffe shops and bars (by the way we often go to Crystal on South End St which is Persian cuisine) and then lots of nature in the southern part. London is also a few minutes away by train.

Regarding hiking for short walks look at Riddlestown common or Happy Valley / Kenley Airdrome area. Lovely walks accesibile from central croydon by bus or a short train ride. For longer walks Box Hill area comes to mind, also lots of beautiful woodlands / hills just south of M25 but some require driving to get there.

There’s also the Vanguard Way which starts at East Croydon and goes 66 miles to Newhaven

For local hiking, you could consider subscribing (maybe the free account is good enough) to OS Maps (Ordnance Survey is the national mapping agency) to plan your routes and then use public transport to explore as many footpaths to the south of Croydon/London as possible.

For example, you could get a train from East Croydon to Merstham, and then walk along the North Downs Way/Pilgrims Way to Oxted, then get the train back from Oxted to East Croydon.

The Surrey and Kent countryside (on Croydon's doorstep) are full of great footpaths... then once you've settled a bit, you could get yourself further away for some more magnificent countryside, north to Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and much of Scotland, and west to Wales and Cornwall (and so many places in between!).

Good way of meeting people and exploring the area would be doing a local ParkRun. Every Saturday at 9am, completely free, membership keeps record of your times, all over the country, 5 kilometres usually cross country, can run or walk and everyone’s friendly. Croydon has i think six different ParkRun locations. Lloyd Park is the closest to East Croydon and is probably the nicest park or open space in the borough.
