Tried the skittles for the first time today. I am hooked. They are the best hard-ish candy ever. If you suck on them they just crumble into little pieces and the outer coating is delicious.
Anyone else try freeze dried skittles or other freeze dried treats yet?
DUDE! As soon as I ate them I instantly thought, "if only these were sour skittles." But the store didn't have them. I could only imagine how good they are. I'd bet they aren't as sour as they normally are but I just have a feeling they'd be excellent. What are they like? They are overpriced. I got about a bags worth for 5 bucks. I didn't order online though. Where'd you get the sour ones?
five below, target and go puff had them. the sour is def more intense but i can't get through more than a couple before it's too much.
Target has them..? Wow, is it skittles themselves selling them? I wouldn't think a modified name-brand product would be sold at large retail stores. I like them for that reason too, it's easier to make them last. I still have to stop myself though. They're my new fav.
That's great to hear. I'll call around and try to find some sour ones.
idk about all Targets, but the one by me does...i would assume since freeze dried is the new trend that others should as well.
it's not "skittles".. it's sour spheres lol. it's def some small/no name brand.
good luck on your search
If you have an Ollie's by you they are $5.99 there right now. They had the regular and the wild berry.
Frozen Snickers bars rock
Frozen or freeze dried?
Both
You've tried both?
Frozen is what I’ve tried. I like the small ones best. A big bar is a pretty good chunk of frozen to break a tooth on lol.
It'd be totally different freeze-dried. So you just commented a thing that you like lol. I do fully agree, frozen snickers is super delicious.
I never saw the word “freeze”! Omg!
Haha. So you thought I just dried some skittles out...?
I meant dried, my mind is not all here, muddled, my bad
That makes more sense lol... Frozen skittles would probably be good. Maybe even freeze dried snickers.
Love the freeze dried skittles. I like the crunch. Didnt really care for other freeze dried gummies.
Haven't tried any others. What other ones have you tried?
I tried freeze dried gummy peach rings. I didn’t care for those. Freeze dried gummy bears were just ok.
Yeah. Skittles is the perfect texture for it. I bet freeze dried smarties could be good, might be too dry. I could see jolly rancher chews being good.
Also: Life savers. Werthers! Those pineapple grandma always had.Licorice if you like licorice already. Warheads. Gobstoppers. Sweet-tarts would be bomb. Good & Plenty if they weren't disgusting.
What are the gummy ones like? Are they still gummy or just on the inside or what?
Not gummy at all. Crunchy as well, just super puffed up.
Gotcha. Is it crumbly?
Ollie's had sweet tarts, I got the wild berry Skittles, but will definitely be going back
I love trying new freeze dried candies. Sour skittles got me hooked in the beginning. Latest I tried were caramel apple suckers. Very crumbly and messy, but worth it.
I tried a sample at a street market a few weeks ago, I think it was a caramel m&m. It was nice.
There's a freeze-drying candy epidemic right now, it would seem.
Not my favorite. The texture is what I don’t prefer, especially chewy candies.
My buddy said the same thing. I actually understand why the texture wouldn't be for some people. It's tipped far enough on the scale to not make me cringe at all, but I understand it. The texture is my fav part but I usually suck on them to make them crumble/get softer. I don't like straight up biting them. Applying pressure with tongue/top of mouth for even a few seconds is enough to make em crumble.
What does it taste like? How is it different?
I’m wondering the same thing.
It's hard to describe. Not really comparable to any other candy. It's hard, but not dense so it gets "soft" very quickly, or rather, it breaks down quick. It almost dissolves into a bunch of tiny hard-ish pieces. The flavor is pretty much the same but with a whole new texture. But they do taste slightly different.
There's a store by me that sells a huge variety. So far, I've only tried freeze-dried air heads. I think those ones are better left as is. They taste the same, but the texture is so much different.
I'm gonna pick up Skittles next time for sure. Hopefully sour skittles.
I've heard the texture can get really weird on certain things. I only tried them because they were everywhere online (so I tried them and loved it,) but they had freeze dried pretzels, cupcakes, etc.
Ooooh cupcakes and pretzels?! I'm in. No idea what popcorn cove is, though
We grabbed a bag from 5 below the other day. Pretty good!!! Such an interesting texture.
What is 5 below?
It’s a chain store that sells a lot of random shit. Candy, no brand cell phone accessories, games, stuffed animals, etc etc. Use to be everything was $5 and under but now they have more expensive stuff. It’s a cool spot.
Sounds awesome, I'd love a store like that. Never heard of it and there's none in my state or neighboring states. It's in like all the states except mine and the ones around lol.
Oh that’s a bummer!! Such a fun store. Good around Christmas for stocking stuffers or we always grab a gift or gift card for my sons friends birthdays!
GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
You’ll have to stop in one if you ever pass by one in another state 🤗
I'll keep that in mind(;
Feel free to check out our stuff. Study of sweets on web or TikTok. Make our own sour mix. Watermelon and sour watermelon coming soon and lots more.
Cool man. What an awesome company to be a part of. I love candy. $12/lbs for freeze dried skittles is fair. Thanks Kat. What are the sour "FD" skittles..? And why do you use your own sour powder? And how come most companies are doing the berry flavor? Do the regular skittles not taste as good freeze-dried?
Dave here. FD freeze dried Skittles. Sour Skittles are not sour enough and not made in large enough quantities. Pretty sure most companies do regular then many do berry , for etc.
Damnit I guessed wrong. I figured the social media person would have the profile, couldn't find any other interests from your profile. I'm a terrible stalker. Oh, "FD" Duh... Gotcha though. I might order some sour ones. I'm distrustful of online shops I'm not familiar with but your site seems legit. I love sour stuff so that's awesome you add the powder. Thanks!
Come into live on TT and take a tour of the facility . We do it everyday on live.
I hate freeze dried candy.
I can see it going wrong if they freeze dry the wrong thing. Either really good or really bad type thing.
I've been slowly working my way through trying all the different varieties available through stores and local vendors in my area for a few months now; I have TMJ, so it's been a really great way for me to enjoy eating chewy candy again without anywhere near as much pain and effort.
Skittles were the first ones I tried and I thought they were awesome. I also tried freeze dried fruit roll ups and man they are the best. They just melt in your mouth.
Skittles with tajin is one of my huge must find again they were so good freeze dried. Slightly spicy Slightly sour just so good
The freeze dried peanut brittle they had available during the holidays was Da’ Bomb!
My current favorite is the freeze dried Spree’s.
I have tried nerds clusters and jolly ranchers so far, jolly ranchers are super good
I have a freeze drier and skittles, salt water taffy and nerds gummies are my favorites!
the sour Skittles are def prime... others.. eh. it's a neat experience but the price is kinda nuts
