Quite some time ago, I made a Reddit post asking for bar and coffee shop recs for places where people are social and not afraid to meet new people. Today I went to a bar recommended in one of the comments on that post. It's called A.T. O'Keeffe's and it's so much fun! I had conversations with like 6 different people, and walked away with a new friend. As soon as I walked in people were super welcoming and I didn't have to sit by myself at all before meeting someone new. The music wasn't too loud, other people were just coming in solo and it wasn't awkward. Everyone was including other random people in their conversations. There were outlets everywhere at the bar, and they even had a non-alcoholic beer, which is perfect for someone like me who still enjoys the bar scene, but can't drink because of health reasons. I will of course be going back. One of the best experiences I've had at a city bar in the middle of the day. 🥰
100%
Back bay social a block down is good too. A lot of the same regulars (including myself) and the bartenders of both go to both places. Like I saw Rich after he got off at AT’s at back bay today. Worth checking out
Ooooh I will def be checking it out! Thanks!
Hahah, my buddy owns the bar. I'm gunna send him this post.
Oh awesome, please do! :)
Who do you think posted it?
Don't play this game 🥲 you'll lose!
Worth mentioning that it used to be called McGreevys, closed down during covid. First bar I went to when I moved here about 6 years back. Met a longterm GF there will always like that spot.
before that it was Foggy Goggle, before that Dad's Beantown Diner ...
Excuse me there tourist, you must not be familiar with the port city of Boston. Nobody here says Beantown. Please enjoy this documentary about our diverse aquatic life.

Oh snap that's what McGreevy's turned into? Nice, gotta check it out.
Dang I forgot about McGreevy’s. See you guys at Okeefe’s in an hour!
Awe, this is so awesome 😊

Hahahaha I'm lost
It’s a reference to the show It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Yeha it's a show reference. I just thought it was funny you called it a "day bar".
Too bad Guinness is like $13 a pint there.
Awe man, I used to love Guinness back when I could drink it. My favorite beer
Guinness has a zero alcohol option now. It’s pretty damn good too.
I think this wins comment of the day! What?! Where?!
Called Guinness 0.0 I think. I’ve seen it around but have yet to try it
When you do try it, I need an update 🙏
This is a good spot. Usually stop by when I’m in town. Usually easy to get a conversation going with someone there.
Right? It's so easy to talk to strangers there 😂 such a community feel
Dillons and Back Bay Social are nearby and also worth checking out
I’m trying to figure out what this used to be from Google Maps. Is this in the spot where Cactus Club used to be?
No, McGreevey's
Shhh don't tell the people! This is my go-to spot for UFC events since it's relatively quiet (always managed to get a table). There used to be a great string of bars right there but now there's only a couple.
When this place first opened, it was a neat stop to hang, but as time went on, my husband and I stopped going to this bar because of how rude the other patrons were to us on multiple occasions.
As well as being charged a “kitchen fee” from the walk up to order drinks. Whereas if you can order from the bar tender, you are not hit with this fee. (It got busy and the bar tender stopped taking orders unless you were sitting at the bar, and someone else was ringing the “walk up” line). Also worth mentioning they usually run one bar tender on game days, and it’s a nightmare to order drinks after games… very rarely were there two plus I’ve literally watch the bartender give free drinks out and overcharge others.
Perhaps there’s better bar tenders now or maybe it was just one or two we noticed doing weird things but it was enough to have left a strong distaste for this place for us. It gave out such a “local vs tourist” vibe with a lot of bias from both the patrons and bar tenders. I’m glad you had a good time though…
Be warned: I was served one of the worst burgers I've ever had there.
If you see me pls don’t talk to me 😂
Lmfao why?!
I was shocked that Bostonians spoke to you 😂
YER SALTY!!
Rich was bartending today, great guy and good bar
