My friend graduated undergrad today, which marks the end of her doing my hair — going on for 3 years.
Any recommendations y’all know? Preferably cost-efficient because it’s my natural hair (not using additional hair), plus I’ll wash my hair before coming in. My hair type is 3C and I’ve never cut my hair, making it ideal for braiding since all hairs are roughly same length.
I have never gone to a salon/shop for myself before, any tips on how to be respectful… or just be kind?
As to the last point, I'm sure simply being open and communicative is all you'll need.
As to your friend, congrats!
As to everything else, uhh, out of my depth. I go to a Hispanic barber and say, "Basic white, please!" and they do me up nice.
From Savin Hill and South on Dot Ave to Ashmont, there are a lot of places that advertise braids. I don't think it'd be out of order to literally walk up to someone with hair you like and ask where they got it done. Referrals are usually very welcomed and treated well.
