The Custom House tower is surprisingly (to me) only 70 years older than the Exchange Place tower. It was built from 1911-1915 and the glass portion of Exchange place began construction in 1981. A huge change in style preferences over just a couple generations.
I always love contrast pictures like this too, with the old buildings and then the big glass and metal buildings. It really makes both styles jump out at you.
I love back bay because of that, there's an old church right across from the library in Copley Square and right behind it is a skyscraper, I always love getting pictures of it.
I used to work in that building on the right and take my lunch on that deck almost daily at 53 state st. Amazing view, great pic!
