No serial number on Remington 1858 New Model Army

Hi this looks to me to be a genuine 1858 Remington.in decent shape. The Remington markings on the barreI are there. I can see something that may be a number under the loading lever by the latch in picture eight. The C stamp on the trigger guard is probably an inspectors marking and may indicate it was a Civil War purchase. You should look to see if there are any others. Usually there is a rectangular cartouche on the grips if it was purchased by the government for use in the war but often on a well used pistol like this they are often worn off. I have one of these and the serial number is on the barrel under the loading lever. It may be rather faint. The number on mine is not struck deeply. If a number is present you can determine when it was made. At any rate this is a nice Civil War era revolver.
