Gordon Pintor June 27, 2017 - May 11th 2024

This is our boy Gordon, who crossed the rainbow bridge last night. It started a week ago when he started getting diarrhea. I took him to the vet, and he was given probiotics, and they took a stool sample. The stool sample came back all clear. However, the diarrhea continued, and the probiotics weren't helping. Next, they gave him antibiotics and took a blood sample. The blood sample returned with an extremely high white blood cell count and an abnormal thyroid value. He was fighting something, but we didn't know what. The next step would be further testing, but he wouldn't eat yesterday morning. We knew then we had to take him to the ER. My wife took him, and they did more blood work and were going to do an X-ray. They told us they noticed he got pale when they were doing the X-ray. It was like he was going into shock. The X-ray came back with internal bleeding. One option would be a complicated surgery to pinpoint the bleeding, but there was a huge chance he would pass away on the table. Boy, it happened fast. I rushed to the ER to meet my wife. The decision was made to euthanize him. We were going to say our final goodbyes, but they told us to rush to where they had him because he had collapsed and started crashing. We rushed over and said our goodbyes right then and there on the ER floor. It was the worst, and I couldn't even imagine what he was going through or if he even knew we were there. It all happened so fast; sometimes I cry, and sometimes I'm entirely numb to how it all went down. When I say this kid loved his mama, I mean he loved his mama. The raw and pure love he had for her was astounding. She was his person, and he was my best bud. We thought we had a year or two left with him, and it feels so unfair.
