Hi! First time discovering this subreddit! I want to have "glass skin" sana 😅 someone recommended me to use retinol. I'm a beginner in skincare kasi fortunately, rarely ako tubuan ng pimples. 2-3 pimples would just show up if i have period ganon.

But yung nose ko hindi siya "smooth", like prominent yung pores ko sa nose, especially if i wear make up. I also have several closed comodones then may area sa face ko na nagfflake.

I tried using quickfx and oxecure salicylic acid facial wash, but it made me break out kaya i switched back to cetaphil gentle cleanser. Pero cetaphil doesn't help with my aforementioned problems sa face 🥲

So ayun, my friend told me to use retinol but i wanna know if safe ba siya for my eczema? If not, what products can you recommend po to improve my skin?

Skincare help: getting married soon need recommendations on what to use/do to even out skin tone?

hello! my(F) arms have an uneven skin tone due to wearing t-shirts most of the time when i go out. i do use sunblock and use a UV protection umbrella naman every time i go out. kaso idk siguro in this heat, kahit lumabas ka lang ng mabilis without sunblock/umbrella magkaka tan lines ka talaga.

im getting married din soon and yung dress ko is off shoulder. nag trial ako ng dress ko and it kinda looked weird na im very light from the shoulders up(naturally maputi po ako) then mejo darker shade from my arms down to my hands. ano po kaya pwedeng gamitin/gawin para maipantay ko ang skin tone ng arms ko to my shoulders up? i still have less than 3 months till i get married baka kaya po to maremejohan

Is there a difference kapag sa free derm consultation ka vs. those paid ones?

Like for example: the doctor won't give a full and thorough assessment of your problem, very limited time, just basically giving you good but not the best options for your problem. I'm kinda overthinking this kasi ofc everyone is motivated by money and this is their job so baka if malaman nila na free is mawalan ng gana(?) sila hahaha

Also, I'm planning to have a free walk-in consultation this week. Should I prepare extra money in case na may irecommend yung dr. sa akin na product? Can someone provide me kahit range lang 🥹

Talaga for me, I tried going to a paid one, he seemed busy and uninterested to be honest which kind of ticked me off.

When i tried sa PGH which is free the doctor was very passionate and kind, I knew I was in good hands, he helped me pick out my skincare routine.

So it really depends on the doctor, try out the free ones, wala namang mawawala, if di ka satisfied then go for the paid ones.

And yes they will pick and recommend products. But if they recommend their own products, likely run haha

Hi! So I went on a beach trip around last month and I got an uneven skintone since then 😭 got busy after it and just left my skin the way it is,,, now, I'm a bit bothered by it already and has started looking for whitening lotions to even it out again 😩,,, currently, I'm considering Vaseline Healthy Bright UV Brightening lotion and Cetaphil Bright Healthy Radiance Brightening lotion... but I don't really know which one is better >< Does anybody ever tried both? What are your thoughts about them?

Vaseline's brightening lotions don't do a lot of brightening. They do moisturize very well which can help the skin repair itself faster. For brightening ASAP it's the same as for face - use actives like AHA or urea lotions. Things like kojic acid (soaps, etc.) also work fast but you'll have to be very diligent with sun protection. Also sunscreen in general. As derms put it, more sunscreen means your skin can focus on repairing more than protecting you by producing melanin.

Since sale naman ang cetaphil gusto ko itry. Maganda ba talaga?? Also now ko lang nakita na di naman pala ganoong kamahal yung gentle cleanser nila (lagi naman may voucher sa shopee haha) nahihirapan ako maghanap ng cleanser kasi kung hindi drying eh nangangati mukha ko at tinitigyawat. I personally like it better if mabula but I can vouch na mild talaga sya which is great. Cetaphil na reco ng pedia for my kid, as in nung kakapanganak lang nya. Haha.. Physiogel yung first reco nya pero nadry skin ni bagets. Ibabalik ko sya sa Cetaphil ngayong teen na sya, ittry namin yung foaming cleanser , baka mabula. Haha.

So last night I have been debating if I should get the Illiyoon or Aveeno moisturizer. But then I saw a post about Cetaphil having 50% off sa Watsons so I went to my local store and got that one instead. I got TWO, since ang cheap lang naman niya compared to both products mentioned above (P500 for two 118mL bottles).

THE PROBLEM IS. Different sila ng font sa packaging, the other one is off. Possible ba na may fake products from Watsons?

I've tried their moisturizer and vit. C serum. I like the moisturizer, hydrating sya and lightweight kaso medyo oily/greasy yung feel niya after application. Sensitive skin friendly din sya, and i like using it as a day time moisturizer.

For the vit.c naman, idk pero i didn't see any significant changes while using it. Probably because i was kind of inconsistent? Pero i want to give it a second try since ang mura lang nya compared to other vit.c's sa market.

My mom is also using their retinol. Sabi niya working naman daw in terms of minimizing wrinkles and improving skin texture.

Yes, very nice 'yan. It may leave dark spot only if sobra sobra ang irritation at inflammation so you gotta make sure your skin barrier is good. Spot treatment usually kapag leave-on na benzoyl peroxide ang gagamitin.

Dr Teals has an affordable shower oil, both in lavender and eucalyptus scents. Malaki sya and affordable naman. I like them cause when I use it during the shower I don’t really need to use lotion after. I also use it for shaving.

I got mine from jinbox and appears auth naman to me. Just note na magkaiba ung Japan vs SE Asia na Hada Labo. The one manufactured in China contains niacinamide, but the one from Japan contains tranexamic acid. Depende na lang siguro sa preference mo on ingredients but they’re not formulated the same way.

The one from JINBOX is the Japan version, ‘no? I use a diff toner that has tranexamic acid and okay naman skin ko with it. My skin doesn’t work well with niacinamide hahaha so prefer ko sana JP version.

Have you tried the cosrx snail essence? The consistency is similar to that, though a lot less slimy. But it does get absorbed well into my skin and leaves a dewy finish. Looks great under makeup too! I buy mine at their official shop in Lazada :)

If you don't mind the alcohol content, Kose Suncut UV Milk may work for you! It has a velvety-matte finish and super lightweight with great sun protection! The downside is it may sting your eyes if you rub it though

May retinol eye serum ka namang ginagamit so, no. I also drank the kool-aid on eye creams but I stopped using it this year and I don't see a difference. It's just moisturizer in smaller packaging.

Through the years I've heard so many variations of derms and trusted influencers say that eye cream is just glorified moisturizer. Although there are people that find success with eye creams especially those with dark under eyes. It might be worth it if you have specific concerns around your eye area.

Generally, an eye cream is not worth it if it's just a shrank version of a basic moisturizer. Worth it ang eye cream if it has active ingredients meant to solve the concern you're trying to tend. You're already using a retinol eye serum, and that should be enough.

I use my COSRX Snail mucin cream. I love it kasi its thick enough to create a barrier between my skin and whatever makeup i put on my face, but its also kind of tacky so my makeup would slide off easily.

I don't use a moisturizer na but I use a lightweight essence. I use the ginseng essence from a local brand Beyond Beautiful. it is affordable, walang alcohol at fragrance, at fda approved. it is lightweight lang kaya kahit mag vitamin c pa ako sa morning is maayos ang makeup base ko :))

Depends on my sunscreen finish! If it's moisturizing enough, then no need. But if it was night time and I had to wear make up, as a combo-oily person, I use a light moisturizer to help prime my face. For this instance, I like using the Muji moisturizing milk for skin prep.

It's generally recommended to still apply moisturizer but it will still depend on how much your skin can tolerate. Most of the time for oily skin people, mas better if you apply a moisturizing sunscreen instead.

Hi Sis, in general, this guide should help you para sa kit na yan. Yung retinol, every other day lang and should be between Steps 2 and 3 in this picture.

I haven't tried the Snail peptide eye cream so IDK if it will help with your darker undereyes. So tignan mo na lang if it works. If not, you can shift to another product once maubos.

But the rest of the products should help with your dry skin as this whole line is hydrating.

If you ordered Vit C, eto magiging routine mo:

AM: Cleanser, Power Essence, Vitamin C, All in one cream, Sunscreen

PM: Cleanser, Power Essence, Retinol (every other day), All in one cream

And to answer your other question. No, you don't need to buy additional products. Especially since bago ka pa lang sa skincare. You can stick to the simplest routine and if may lumabas na problem areas in the future, atsaka ka na lang mag-add.

Basically, simplest skincare routine is 3 steps lang. Cleanser, toner, moisturizer (and sunscreen pag AM). Anything else you add is catered to some sort of thing you want to address.

Retinol? For fine lines and skin texture.
Vitamin C? For skin brightening.
Niacinamide? Pores.
Hyaluronic Acid? Moisture retention.

You can overwhelmed easily kasi ang daming options. So just start with a simpler routine and go from there.

+1 for the Skin1004 Madagascar Soothing Cream! It's my day time occlusive. I have oily/combi skin and it's very lightweight and comfortable, but you can feel how moisturizing and soothing it is. Gel-cream texture, although it takes about 3-5 minutes for it to completely absorb on my skin haha pero I don't use the AC din kasi when I'm getting ready.

I have oily skin too. Would highly recommend Pyunkang Yul ato soothing gel lotion or Skin1004 madagascar soothing cream. Both are lightweight, provides enough hydration, not sticky, and dries fairly quickly.

siguro possible, not sure. from my understanding, bpo generates free radicals to kill the bacteria responsible for acne and it makes sense to me that too much of these free radicals mean that this oxidative stress can also cause inflammation and damage to the surrounding skin cells, and as we know, inflammation is a key trigger for hyperpigmentation, which can cause dark spots to appear more pronounced

You may want to try this, kasi I have oily lids to the point na minsan humahapdi sya pag napapawisan ako (nagrurun ung oil or dirt sa mata). You take a mattifying eyeshadow primer (I use Canmake Tokyo) and you put a thin amount on your brows (in my case, sa lids), and set with translucent powder. You can easily put products on top kasi it's just a primer.

When I started doing this, nacontrol talaga yung oil ko throughout the day. I would imagine it can work on brows as well.
