Fighter jets stop play in Baltimore after roaring past the stadium
VideoLike i knew nothing happened, but i still gasped when watching this video lmao
"As he takes a nosedive...Must be a Phillies fan."
As he takes a nosedive, must be Atlanta’s offense.
AS HE TAKES A NOSEDIVE MUST BE former twins and yankees second-baseman Chuck Knoblauch's dWAR from 1998 through 2000.
Ok Passan let’s get you to bed
I can hear that laugh
Laughs are cheap. I'm going for gasps.
lol there is an alternate timeline where you know who could have been batting too
A fighter jet has just crashed outside the stadium! and Castellanos with a home run
"Castellanos with an absolute bomb out to left, holy shit look at that mushroom cloud"
"Sir, a second Castellanos home run has hit the towers"
and a replacement laptop was destroyed
Castellanos signed a sponsorship deal with Raytheon?
I consider myself a man of gravity.
I might never set foot in a cockpit again
folks, I want to apologize for the people that sign my paychecks - comcast, probably aramark
Got me a little nervous for a second
My wife happened to change the channel right after it disappeared behind the building and I was just like hang on wtf go back hahaha
While people cheered
If you don’t cheer you’re a commie.
If you do cheer, you're a well-disciplined commie.
I visibly jumped and wondered how I had not heard about this terrible event already.
6/16/24, never forget
Just like when I was in little league. The F-16s fly by, everything stops. Everyone stares.

I fueled f-16, prowlers, harriers, f35s all kinds of aircraft. Some when they were on (those are called hot pits) I still stopped my fuel truck and watched when they were landing or taking off from an airbase I was on.
I spent hours watching A10's do practice runs out near Fort Leonard Wood.
Fascinating. Every time.
I worked on Prowlers
Now I have Tinnitus
MAWP
I grew up playing over by MacDill AFB in Tampa. We would stop play because of the jets.
One time I was heading out to play RF when I saw the B-2 taking off. It rose against the red-orange-yellow of the sunset towards the oncoming darkness, and disappeared. My coaches had to call me back to reality.
Depending on when you grew up, if they were fighter jets, then most of the time they were probably a combo of F-16’s and F-15’s, with a few F-14’s and F-18’s sprinkled in from time to time.
F14s and F18s would be very uncommon since they are USN models. Unless there was a joint operation or testing going on, you wouldn't find one there on a regular day.
Same reason you don't typically ever find F15s or F16s on naval bases - they're USAF models.
Also, Elgin is home to an A-10 squadron. They probably would've seen those as well.

I live by Oceana NAS and Langley AFB - they definitely dont mix aircraft. It's roughly the same distance between the two.
I grew up in Colorado Springs, 9-11 was a trip... All those fighter jets about 30k' up and no other air traffic. I imagine it was the same for you?
Jealous, most impressive thing we got was the Good Year blimp =/
Did it at least say "Ice Cube's a pimp"?
That was a good day
I thought every little league had jet flyovers?
I know I did when I was a kid. Jet flyovers for everything. Little league, 4th of July, Graduation, math class, Thursday, they were/are always flying.
There's more F-16s than blimps by an order of magnitude.
Living nearby Whiteman AFB as a kid was a heck of a treat. Lots of “stop and stare at the plane” delays lol
Seeing b2's will never stop being amazing.
Well of course, if you can see it, you're not the target!
Every time I see one of those, I wonder how many UFO sightings they were responsible for back while they were in development. I believe they were test flying them years before the public knew about them.
Living in downtown Wilmington NC is a fuckin nightmare with these things flying a couple hundred feet off the ground and practicing hot-refueling and touch-and-goes at the ILM airport. Some cool planes but they're soooo goddamn loud.

I coached at a Little League just north of Quantico. For us it was Ospreys flying over head. Low and slow.
That was an F-35.
Which probably weren’t in service when this guy was in little league.
Only thing that stop my little league is the tornado siren
We live or we die by the wind!
Oh hell yeah, as a kid in Tampa in 2002 we could always hear the jets breaking the sound barrier taking off from MacDill. It was a thrill every time.
They absolutely do not break the sound barrier on takeoff.
Ump knew it was time to stop and let everyone check out the sweet friggin’ jet.
Problem was, that wasn’t the only jet. Just the first. Eventually they just played through it.
People running on the field really had to up their game after getting tased.
Im suprised one of the pitchers didn't have a heart attack lol. Shit was loooooud at the park
Yeah that’s because after the Westy home run we unlocked the harrier killstreak and called it in.
Angel Hernadez would never

I dunno man. Some specOPs sniper might catch him center mass 6" below the letters and Angel would call it a ball.
I can picture him trying to yell at the jet.
"You're outta here!"
Hernandez would've called the flyby a strike.
About the only thing the umps got right today lol
The players are just like us and wanna admire F-35’s doing their things too
Absolutely and as a former Air Cadet they are beautiful
Pretty important to stop play until it passed. You don't want to hit a high pop up and get flagged as an Iraqi fighter jet.
Deploying sidewinder missile.
Missed ‘em. Launching second sidewinder missile.
Bogey's airspeed insufficient for intercept. Suggest we get out and walk.
Aw... not the Wright Brothers plane! The Smithsonian's gonna have my ass on a platter!
Awww. Not the corn. Paul Newman’s gonna have muh legs broke.
Different episode but love the obscure Simpsons references 🙏
This is what happens when you take money out of the military and put it in to healthcare!
It's a good program, just give it a chance, that's all I ask!
We have searched every square inch of this base, and all we have found is porno, porno, porno!
Missed 'em
“Infield fly, 100%”
- Sam Holbrook, probably
Splash 1 baseball
And that’s a deep drive to right by Gunnar Henderson!
“Radar lock acquired, Fox-1.”
Iraqi fighter jet? Or a Chinese spy balloon
Even worse, a North Korean shit balloon
The shit winds are blowing, Randy
Having a fighter jet brought down by a baseball would be a really bad look for Boeing (or whoever)
F-35's are made by Lockheed Martin
They fall under “or whoever”
Boeing made the baseball, clearly.
It’s a high fly ball to left by castellanos and it’s gonna be a $3,000,000,000 explosion
Wait, they told me Pujols retired
It’s round, not very aerodynamic, and it’s held together with stitches. Yup it’s an Iraqi fighter jet. Take it out.
Mobius One, Fox 2!
Fun fact! That baseball would appear 4x larger than the F-35 jet to a radar system (according to amateur estimates)
Pops a HARM and takes out the pitch speed gun
This is what happens when you cut money out of the military, and put it into healthcare!
It’s a good problem, just give it a chance that’s all I ask!
I was at the game, it was fucking awesome. The in-stadium speakers started playing Danger Zone and the fans nearly lost their shit!!!
Lana? Lana! LANAAAAAA!
Call Kenny Loggins because you’re in the Danger Zone!
WHHAAAAATT!
Danger Zone.
A fighter jet delaying a baseball game is maybe the most American thing possible
Right behind a fighter jet ending a soccer game in a random village
C'mon man, that's messed up.
It's usually a wedding.

You a big Liberia fan too?
Always
Red white and blue baby.
Those are F-35's!
That's got to be a rush if you're the pilot. Very impressive.
Once he got back to base he's definitely checking those game highlights
They kept doing aerial moves and showing off, that pilot definitely loved this assignment. Opposing fans all came together to cheer and watch like enthralled children, it was great.
So Murican. Stopped play at a baseball game on Father’s Day for an F-35 fighter jet. God bless it.
Reminds me of when the Blue Jays used to play at Exhibition Stadium just off Lake Ontario. Labour Day weekend there was always the airshow in town. You would see everything here from fighters to bombers to the occasional visit from the Concord. The Vulcan was a regular visitor at one time. All of this was just south of the stadium over the lake. Every so often between innings you would see the players come out of the dugout to watch. It got pretty loud at times.
I used to live by the CNE in Toronto and was one of like 3 people who lived around there who loved the Air Show lol. Everyone else hated it because of the noise, and made up some sob story about refugees to justify their curmudgeon-ness.
That whole refugee thing pops up every time there’s a fireworks display scheduled as well. It’s such BS.
I once made my dad leave a cubs game because the blue angels took an unannounced screaming pass over Wrigley during the air and water show weekend. Four year old was having none of it. We left and walked around the neighborhood until the game was over. Core memory for sure.
He was a good dad for that.
Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby.
Negative, Ghost Rider, the bases are loaded.
Sorry Goose, it's time to hit a dong...
This happened roughly 3 times in ten minutes.
Seemed more like twice that.
“Air show? Buzz-cut Alabamians spewing colored smoke from their whizz jets... to the strains of Rock You Like a Hurricane? What kind of country-fried rube is still impressed by that?”
I was always amused by Marge's lack of enthusiasm.
yeah
I was at the game, the jet flew over the stadium 10 times or so, it just kept circling back around. Was a super cool experience for my first time at Camden!
Glad you got to see a packed house (even if a few too many of them were Phillies phans)
I went with my parents, decked out in Snakes gear. The funny looks from the Phils fans were priceless.
I was there today with my wife and kids for their (×3) first MLB game, this sealed it for their best experience ever
Ha! Me too. I was so happy they got to see a great game complete with an air show! Even my normally very unimpressed teenager thought it was "pretty cool."
Just fleet week things
Yep, it's Fleet Week in Baltimore. Lasts through Tuesday.
Feels this could fit in a movie. One flys by people clap, then a whole bunch fly with some on fire followed by alien.
Fighter jets are so cool.
Not just fighter jets, but I always end up staring at commercial aircrafts too. Sometimes I just get amazed at anything aviation, with something that big soaring through the air.
Bro we launch 100 ton metal tubes filled with people and shit into the air and fly them halfway around the planet. It’s basically in open defiance of god. Can you imagine a Roman seeing this?
Same buddy. I will stop and watch any plane or helicopter I spot for a second. Its instinct. I can't help it but I don't think I'd change it if I could.
I see a fighter jet and I revert to my 7 year old self and just go "Wow that was awesome".
Imagine they if stopped for planes at old Shea.
One of my favorite things about taking in games there. Even MIB gets me nostalgic.
Next the Army is going to march a bunch of guys past and then you've totally lost control of the situation. Ump's gotta warn both branches after that.
Doesn't matter how old someone gets. A fighter jet will be cool 100% of the time.
Non-American here, can anybody explain me what happened here?
For a more serious answer, it's fleet week in Baltimore, which means the Navy is in town doing some recruitment stuff and doing cool air shows all week.
Chances are this guy thought it'd be fun to fly over the stadium a couple times and forgot how loud those stinking things can get. Flew over the stadium like 10 or so times in the bottom of the 6th, and they kept having to stop play for it, cause those things are loud enough to make a packed stadium, half of which are Phillies fans, seem quiet in comparison.
Our military just sprayed some freedom on our freedom-ball. Just be jealous you don’t have this much freedom in your country.
The pitcher was about to pitch but the umpire paused the game because a fighter jet was flying overhead. Nothing big, it was just a jet flying around that happened to be near the ballpark. Pretty cool to watch.
For a stealth plane, Fat Amy is loud af
Cause fat Amy can can win the fight long before you’ll ever hear or see her
Fun fact (that I just looked for quick on Google without verifying lol). This thing could shoot a missile from that stadium and hit Penn State University.
Silent death to the front, freedom racket to the back.
Always funny to see people react to that noise that aren’t used to it. 4 years spent working about a mile from a naval air station and it starts to sound weird when you DON’T hear that sound every 15 minutes lol
"If the sky doesn't sound like it's tearing apart, you might need to check your heart"
Grew up near a base that used to have an airshow every year. The base eventually just got retired essentially. But growing up and hearing them rip the sky apart (that's the only way to describe it) was crazy.
Yeah it’s wild. The base had both fixed and rotary wing air squadrons so it was a constant roar and whirl almost non-stop. Thankfully no night ops, they’d go out to sea on the carries for that, or do it in Miramar in the middle of nowhere lol
Yeah, unforunately a crash in 2000 put the show and (I think the future) of the Airbase in to Jepoardy. Seen here (this happened in PA btw, not Virginia)
It held shows for a few more years, and ocasionally when someone important would come to Philly, they generally took Helicopter "gangs" from Willow Grove over where I live to events. THOSE things rattled windows and bodies in a different way. It wasn't the sky ripping apart, it was like..them punching the sky like a speed bag.
NGL as loud as it was, if it didn't rattle my windows, it's the perfect sound to fall asleep to.
Edit: you know what? more that I think about it, the shows these days are almost all held on or near bodies of water. I guess to give pilots an out or something. This show was not in an ideal water spot of the Philadelphia area.
I know that feeling. I work by the Atlanta airport. You can barely talk on the phone outside. On 9/11 when everything was grounded, it was complete silence outside. Eerie as hell walking outside.
Worth it
As a person under the overhang, I was very confused.
Anything more American than fighter jets pausing a field game? 😂🫡
Fighters jets will always fascinate me.
F35's are so loud, they can be at 1,000 ft, and you still feel the engines in your chest.
I went to an Air Show like 10 years ago, the guy flying the F-22 deliberately stalls the plane going straight up. face forward to the ground and easily flew off.
When done the show over the water the pilot flew right over (foul pole to foul pole) and acknowledged the Camden crowd with a wing tip. The poor guy behind me brought his little girls to their first ever game today and now they’re going to expect flyovers ever other inning for the rest of their lives. Btw there were multiple aircraft from the Fleet Week activities flying by during the game. (Some single prop formations, I think a Hercules or other heavy lift rotor)
Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving, going in again
Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving
Labor Day weekend is the Cleveland airshow. Cleveland baseball games are frequently games halted during Thunderbirds or Blue Angels performances. Especially before the extended netting. It's just too dangerous to have no fans watching the game.
Lefty Gomez stepped off the mound in a world series game to watch a plane go by. He used to stare at planes from the mound a lot.
He witnessed a plane crash as a kid.
It's fleet weeeeeeeeeek!! Let's go biiiiiiirds
They have been coming in and out of the airport by my house for Fleet Week and holy hell when they fly over they are freakin loud.
I love living here, get to see so many awesome planes
It's Fleet Week. There were several more interruptions during the drubbing of the Phillies.
Orioles up 8-2? Fuck the Orioles are rofl stomping teams and they're not even the best team in the division.
We called this “the 4th inning” at Shea Stadium.
You could have at least credited where you took this from on Twitter, but that's cool.
Had to make up the time for missing the anthem flyover.
Jets are on par with hearing a bat drilling a ball when it comes to sonic enjoyment.
Play storage on account of the pilot doing a sick nosedive and everyone should have a chance to watch
They were flying around pregame on Saturday, it's Fleet Week in Baltimore right now
Buzz the booth
Damnit, Maverick!
Cubs games during the Air and Water show are always wild 😀
The sound of freedom!
If I was there I’d assume something terrible had happened. A round of random, unexpected fighter jets mobilizing in the 6th not too far from DC? Sheeeeeet.
The timing of saying it’s in a nosedive and then showing it go behind the building was something.
