Is there any way to cope with this issue?
If I smell cigarette smoke, I cannot help but gag. I can barely breathe, and I'm not even sure whether this is a sensory issue, or a respiratory issue, or possibly both.
I was also told that my reaction to smoke can seem rude, but I don't know what else to do. If I can hardly breathe, how do I cope with something like that without seeming rude?
I also normally have to take Uber/Lyft to work, and most of the drivers smoke. Any advice on politely rejecting rides from smokers? Also, is there an alternative to avoid being late for work because a driver smoked? My family is already at their work long before I leave, and I can't drive, so Im not sure of any alternatives to Uber/Lyft.
Ugh, it's so victim blaming to say it's rude that you can't handle their disgusting garbage addiction.
I can't breathe it either, nor woodsmoke, nor diesel particulates, nor plastic microfibers, nor cheap fake burnable incense, nor weed smoke, nor any other kind of sooty ultrafine suspended solid of a high ppm.
Yeah, it means my lungs are preconditioned to avoid toxins.
Yeah, it means I can barely handle this toxic hellscape of a society.
I wish I had a solution for you. I wish I had a solution for me.
So far the best I have is running off into nature to escape it all and debating if I should just start wearing a p100 respirator everywhere I go.
It sucks. Wish I had something more helpful to offer.
