Woobly Printbed

Hi everyone,

I keep having problems with the first layer not sticking properly to the printbed of my Kobra 2 Pro. I print the same thing twice and get very different results. I have noticed that the print bed has a lot of play. When you take the PEI sheet off and put it back on there can be differences of up to half a millimetre. I have already tightened the nuts on the Y-gantry and also adjusted the pressure on the ball bearings using the concentric nuts, but there has been no improvement. Is it normal for the Y-gantry to have so much play? What can I do about it?

The rollers under the right side of the printer bed are adjustable with a 10 mm wrench. It looks as though they need adjusted. If they are snug, remove the entire bed, and tighten the pegs that hold the rollers to the bed. I found I had one of these loose.

If you apply so much force to the edge of the build plate (= big lever) that you already twist the bedgantry, as seems to be the case in your video, then it can be considered normal, yes.

Unlike a CNC machine, a 3D printer doesn't have to deal with a lot of vertical forces, so if all the screws are tight and the SG15 bearings are well positioned with the eccentric nuts, then you're good to go.

As a general rule, try to avoid removing the PEI plate - just wait and let the bed cool down completely, then the prints will pop right off the PEI plate.
