This is the subreddit devoted to American Airlines. We are not affiliated with the airline, and there is a pretty good chance no one that works for the airline will be reading your posts here. With that said, here are a couple of rules.


Rule 1. Treat everyone with courtesy and respect
Many will post their gripes with AA here, and to some of the more seasoned flyers these gripes will seem like obvious user errors. All participants must treat each other with respect, even if there are differing viewpoints or opinions on certain topics. Personal attacks, name calling, victim blaming, or other similar attacks are explicitly forbidden. 

Rule 2: 
All content should be related to American Airlines or be travel adjacent

This subreddit is meant to discuss all items pertaining to American Airlines. Inherently, some non-AA but still travel adjacent content might be relevant, however the moderation team will have the final say. Politics is generally not permitted, even when it is AA related. 

Rule 3:
No private or confidential information

Please do not include your name, AAdvantage number, your record locator, or any other personally identifying information. Avoid sharing personal info of others like employee names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails. Only post photos of others with clear consent; otherwise, they'll be removed.

Rule 4:
Use sticky threads were relevant

From time to time, specific threads may be pinned (or stickied) at the top of the subreddit. Additional rules relevant to those topics will be posted in those threads. Generally, if a sticky thread exists, all content relevant	to that topic must be posted in the sticky thread. Attempts to evade automatic enforcement are expressly forbidden.

Use the search feature before posting

There are only so many questions that can be asked and there is a very good chance your question is not unique. Before posting a question, utilize the search feature to find answers to common inquiries. This includes topics such as pet policies, carry-on bag dimensions, and refunds, basic economy rules, and others.

Rule 6:
Complaint/Help thread comments must actually be helpful

For those posting a request for help or a complaint: Your post should contain specific, unique, information pertaining to your situation and what you are specifically looking for out of your post.

For those providing help/commenting: Your post must contain specific, actionable suggestions that OP could take moving forward. Comments about what they should have done differently are not permitted in that thread.

All threads must be properly flaired

Failure to use flair might result in your post being automatically removed. In that case, please resubmit following the correct protocols.
