I work at a railroad vehicle unloading yard and my job involves a lot of kicking chocks loose, obviously you can tell that I usually kick with my right foot. These boots are only 5 months old and they’re cooked already. Can anyone in a similar situation recommend a pair of boots that will last longer without the toes getting blown out. Must be safety toe! Im open to any budget within reason if they’re going to last a don’t mind paying for it
Some quality boots would be:
Redwing Supersole
Irish Setter Wingshooter ST
Jim Green Razorback Steel Toe
I might also suggest combining the steel toe boot with some toe guard like Kg's Boot Guard. It would protect the leather, and you could reapply it as it wears off. Could also try these physical toe guards. I've not been in your specific situation before, but sounds like it might work.
You might have to get a custom boot, maybe they can make you a boot with double leather toe caps, try franks, or JK.
I’ve had good luck with Thorogood boots.
what model thorogood boot is going to last when he is kicking stuff all the time?
Tough toe or custom reinforced double leather toe cap
Wolverine Overpass CarbonMAX 6" Boot
Blundstone Rotoflex 9090
Wolverine Men's Loader 8" Steel-Toe Wedge Boot
Timberland PRO Pitboss 6" Steel-Toe Boot
Danner Quarry USA Made Alloy Toe WP Work Boot - 17325
If his compound has the same rules as my railroad unfortunately most of these won’t work. Must be 8” with a defined heel and lace up.
Fair enough, I guess different countries and regions have different criteria for workwear safety compliance.
I quite enjoy my blundstones. But I'm a trucker so the wear and tear isn't too extreme.
Red Wing #4499 Red Wing #4420 Red Wing #4200 with Tuff Toe. All highly durable, stitched on soles.
Get some shoegoo on there. All the boots recommended below are great but you can also buy caps to put on them so this doesn’t happen again, otherwise it’s just going to happen again but cost more. :)
Nicks Steel toe
Steel blue
Timberland Pro Boondock. Best I've ever worn.
These are the boondocks in that picture, lasted 4 months. I duct taped the toes so I can still wear them to work without getting yelled at but I’ll have to replace them soon
i liked boondocks, had 3 pairs, and I have feeling every pair lasted less and less,
just recently got one pair resoled with vibram sole, since they were so comfy, but damn they are heavy. I will keep them for colder months, but I am on a hunt for something lightweeight / composite toe / more sneaker style. I am pretty bummed out since I was hoping ot get more life for 300+$ boot. . .
You playing Robin Hood in the school play?
Keens
Red Wing
I’d get a solid boot like red wing dynaforce and apply tuff toe. Should be pretty indestructible At that point
