First VW I've ever owned and I love it. I'm not one to hold on to cars for a while but this one is definitely going to be sticking around.

Manufacturing defects tend to show themselves pretty quickly usually.
as far as ik jettas are pretty reliable as long as maintained so there should be barely to no issues with it
I have a Jetta with 212k miles on it, it’s running strong and only major issues I ran into were the emissions system.
Wait 'til you get to 75k miles that's where the real fun starts
I don’t know why you are getting downvoted. I’ve owned a lot of VW and Audi cars, even a few BMWs. No matter how well maintained, the majority of them started being fucky around 75k-90k miles
Same had german cars my whole life haha people don't want to hear these things I guess
A coworker of mine sold a car (2024 with 10 miles) this past Saturday that came right into service early Monday morning
That's what I've been told that you typically find out in the first 12k
No it all comes later
Can confirm: Within the first 6000 KM's I had the following occur:
-Missfire- Faulty N80 Valve (I think it occured at less than 2000 KM's)
-Not an active issue but there a part was ordered that had to do with the filler neck
-Very loud screetching noise coming from the rear brake pads
-Steering wheel communication Error that would chime non-stop
-Had to SLAM doors for them to latch on properly
To this day:
-I hear a creaking noise coming from under the car when I go over a medium size speed bump at very low speed
-Transmission has some odd shifting behavior, prior and post Transmission Software update. (I have read that some have hard up and downshifts from 3-4 and 4 to 3.
Perhaps this is the sign to get a GLI....
I know what you mean. I had an 06 Jetta TDI and the first 300 miles.my clutch stuck to the floor. Dealership tried to blame it on me and warrantied the clutch. I got it back and it sounded like a jet engine in 3rd gear, took it back and they tried to blame it on me. They had to warranty the whole trans.
About 2k miles later I was driving down the road and the trans grenades itself in 3rd gear. They tried to blame it on me and refused to cover it. I had to get insurance involved and they said 'pothole' and went after the dealer. They replaced quite a bit as it tore our two motor mounts and broke an axle when the trans seized.
After that, typical BEW issues of clutch and camshaft.
I had heard a lot about rattles forming and such early on but so far nothing.
I bought a 21 R Line new and after 3+ years and right at 40,000 I have no rattles. Just as solid as day one. Had a recall on the rear brakes and a leak detection pump replaced under warranty. Other than that, just oil changes. The leak detection pump may be my fault after trying to squeeze more gas into the tank like I did with my old Honda.
This is the car post equivalent of the posts on r/buyitforlife where someone posts an unused, new old stock hammer they found in their great-great-great grandpa’s attic and proclaims that clearly a brand of hammer made in Prussia is truly BIFL.
Lucky. My first issue Halle ed less than a half mile from the dealership.
Lexus owners: I reached 69,420 miles and I still love it.
VW owners: I reached 12k miles with zero problems.
😂🤣
sounds like achievement 😂
I held on to one that was over 100k miles very dependable car . all repairs were normal wear and tear . On my second at over 60 and so far so good but may be trading up to an Audi next month
Nice, from what I've been told, as long as you take care of the. The 2.0L VW tend to last
Which Audi? I have had my S4 for 18 months, and plan on getting either a new RS5 or M3 Competition once my lease is up in 18 more months.
Lord, what did you drive before this that DID have problems in 12k miles?
A BMW 530i and a Dodge charger. Both had issues in the first 10k miles. I had 6 warranty repairs on my 530 in the first 8 months of ownership.
Jeez, that is a very very very low bar.
I just hit 12k in my S4 with zero issues either. Nice to not have to go in for warranty work or recalls.
That's my thing, I loved my BMW but after if hit 40k miles I was in the dealership for warranty repaired every couple months. Made me seriously debate on ever having another one
S4, love the audi design!
I’d sure fucking hope so!!
My 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature had spent nearly 40 days at the dealership within the first 1yr12k miles, lol. Piece of shit lemon. My Audi and Volkswagens have never let me down.
I'm hoping this fella does me right, even named him Alucard from Hellsing Ultimate cuz of the bad ass it is. Seriously debating on doing a light tune on it at apr to get a little better fuel economy and maybe a small pep in its step.
You should have never bought a Mazda.
Yeah… I regretted that decision after my Audi was totaled.
12k miles is holding on to car "for a while"? Have you owned like hundreds of cars or something? Or did you leave out a zero and you meant 120k miles?
I usually swap cars every 3 years. I do a lot of travelling so I tend to rack up miles on my vehicles. Had this one for about 6 months now.
I'm at 31k on my 2019 Golf Alltrack SEL and have also had zero problems. My only complaints: Android Auto sometimes requires reconnecting, fuel efficiency is not great, and the suspension is far less forgiving on bad roads than my Subaru Legacies were.
I'm the opposite of OP: I work from home, so I put very little miles on my cars. The 2019 model year is the last year VW warranties were 6 year/72,000 miles, so I'm basically going to have a 6-year factory warranty.
Curious about your MPG. I’m getting 33-36 highway from Northern MN to the Twin Cities. That being said my city per is around 22 at best so…
I drive very little highway since I don't commute. I usually get 27-29 in mixed semirural driving.
I don’t understand the complaint then
It's not that it's bad mileage for ICE technology, it's bad mileage compared to what else is out there. My wife typically gets 40+ in her Honda CR-V hybrid, and that is a considerably larger and heavier car.
Oh. Well it is an ICE car so
Yes, I guess what I'm really saying is I wish I could have had the same or similar car as a hybrid. I would not buy it again because of the fuel efficiency, but I also would not buy any other ICE car.
I have a 2013 Passat TDI and local/semirural roads I get about 36/38 and highway driving I average around 44-46. So I just depends, also if you want a hybrid that’s Ik to you but an ICE is the way to go for me
I'm at 80K and no issues for my 2017 Passat SE 1.8. Keep up on your normal maintenance and you should be okay. Doing my rear shocks this week will be my largest ticket item
i mean i hope so
(I say this as if my 19 GTI didn't need a new intake manifold at 4000 miles)
Mine has 213k and while I've only had it for 1.5k of those miles...I would imagine if it had a lot of problems to first owner wouldn't have put 212k on it. The PPI showed normal shit needing attention for a 7 year old car with 212k miles on it.
😂 12,000 Thing happen just keep that in mind
Hit 102K miles with no major problems.
My GLI has 240k miles. Only had to replace the timing chain once! Turbo still works fine after 10 years. Plastic is getting brittle now, and I expect it will take a significant amount of maintenance to get to 340k miles.
Congrats! EA888 gen 3 is epic engine. Later on you can drop stage 1 tune on it rising hp to ~320 if you into it. It’s really “enthusiast” friendly car.
On those engines it doesn’t affect longevity, just change oil a bit more frequently.
That's the plan, there is an APR tuning garage in the state I live in.
Wait until you hit 100k. It also depends on conditions, I have a friend that has a 13’ civic si with 30k miles, but it’s local and he drove it hard for 30k. I own work trucks, I have a 2021 f350 with 85k miles, but it has been mostly highway mileage, but I would buy his civic. 🤷🏻♂️
im at 80k miles in my 2017 golf R.. No issues that werent caused by one of the several times people have hit me -.-
uhm yeah I sure hope you did
I would hope so
Nice
Hoping to not jinx myself here but I have a 2019 GLI with 91k miles and zero problems so far
My 2007 Jetta GLI is sitting at 120k, and only now am I starting to have non maintenance issues, starting to have a turbo failure.
I drive about 200 miles a day on highway.
These cars last, and I abuse this car on the daily, I do oil changes every 10,000 miles, don’t ever check fluids until I’m doing the oil change, and routinely go over the mileage between services.
Not surprised, I'm a vdub guy and I would expect triple that from a new one. Glad you like it, one more guy in the club.
did you expect them to be at 12k miles?😂
