So if we are going to do the let's move teams thing every other week or so - how about we use Google and Wikipedia to bring stadiums into the conversation. Don't just throw out city names and say - "those guys would be a great market because of _________." (fill in the blank.)
Here are a couple of cities that I will take off the board for you -
OKC - No Stadium
Portland - No Stadium - technically they have one but MLS has a lock on it. And Hillsboro is a shit stadium.
San Diego - Stadium with 4 tennents
Oakland - No Stadium
Boston - Forboro? Boston College? Nickerson Field - 9,500 seating capacity.
Pittsburgh - Heinz field - Huge NFL Stadium like Detroit
NY/NY - MetLife Stadium - Red bull Arena isn't happening
Seattle - Lumen, Husky Stadium or Starfire complex
And before you play the MLS Stadium card - MLS and UFL are different sports but they would be competitors for fans, sponsorships, dates to use the fields, and UFL football chews up the fields in a big way. The MLS teams are not throwing out the red carpet and inviting the UFL into their little ecosystems.
So it gets back to those who want to kill off Arlington, Houston and Memphis. Where are you going that you are going to have a slam dunk guaranteed better market with a reasonable stadium lease?
