Some background i am a chronic smoker but i have never and would never smoke indoors. I moved in about 2weeks ago April 27th. Is it possible to get evicted should i be worried please helpđ.

There is nothing they can actually do. First of all, youâre not doing anything illegal so I donât know what âauthoritiesâ they speak of. Second, they need to be able to prove you are smoking indoors for it to hold up At the LTB, so if youâre not then youâre good.

They can't force you to meet with them separately. They aren't cops questioning you about a homicide. I would definitely not do that. Be a strong, informed tenant who knows their rights.
What is there reason for entry? If it wasn't 24 hours you can simply deny them entry.
You also have no obligation to be home when they enter so their plan of interviewing you both separately is just dumb.

If you wanted to push back on this you could - the LTB considers monthly inspections excessive and unreasonable.
He can enter today to replace the smoke alarms (although if this was the only notice you received, his notice is invalid and you could actually deny entry if you really wanted to), but you have no obligation to be present or have a conversation with him. You have the option of insisting on email/text communication if you'd prefer.
You can also record any conversation you are a part of, with or without the landlord's permission, which may be a good idea if there's any chance of this escalating or that the landlord will lie in the future.

Weed smokers dont realize how much they stink. Im sorry but ya'll need to accept reality. First of all, if you are smoking just outside your house the smells coming in. How do I know? I live in an apartment and i have to constantly deal with my room filling with weed smell from people smoking on their balconies. I have to buy an air purifier for my apartment so their smells dont ruin the enjoyment of my place. Its ridiculous. And i almost prefered if they smoked ciggarettes cause i find even ciggarette smoke disapates quicker than weed smoke. So if you are smoking just outside your house you'll want to go far from it cause it can def smell like you are smoking in it if you are near a window or door.
Second...weed smell sticks to everything. Your clothes, your hair, your soft surfaces everthing. When my sibling smoked weed his kid smelled like weed and he never smoked in the house...just his stuff stunk and it was stinking up his kids stuff. My friends who smoke weed , who hasnt even smoked that day could come in my house and id smell weed on them.
So chances are you may not be smoking weed in the house but your house prob smells like you do.

If this is true then you have nothing to worry about. Owner only needs to provide 24-48 hour notice to enter the unit. Be around, showcase the unit in a clean manner and record everything.

Smokers never realize but everyone can tell when you've smoked in the last hour. You reek of it. A "chronic" smoker may reek of it badly and often enough to lead neighbours to believe they're smoking in the unit.
Landlord's full of shit and the other posts give the right advice to OP but it's entirely possible that there were complaints which are leading to the LL trying to remedy it... They're just not doing it right.
I assume smoking on the porch or smoking in a car with friend(s) and then me and friend coming inside to play video games for an hour or 2 are clothes scent probably went thru the vents and the upstairs tenant may have said something đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
Do those other tenants have kids? Maybe they donât want their kids to be near weed smell and thatâs totally understandable even if itâs legal and you do it in your porch or parked car. Maybe itâs just an old cranky person that doesnât want to bring out a particular crowd
Youâre within your rights but personally, it sounds like it would be a small enough inconvenience to suck up for all the headaches youâd avoid if you just walk around the block to smoke. If itâs because you always have people over smoking weed, I get why the other tenants would get annoyed
