I know we all got spoiled with last year’s tours but things sure are quiet lately…anybody have any news, gossip or updates about what the band is doing? I don’t mess with X, but it seems like Robert is tweeting sporadically again: is he just retweeting stuff, or is there more informative/entertaining content as well? What about Roger? Any updates on his health? Any news from anybody else?
What happened to him that he had to get treatment?
It has not been disclosed
Ohh okay I was confused why I hadn’t hear about it. Makes sense.
He announced it on his social media before the Latin American shows he had to miss. It sort of sounded like cancer of some sort, but who knows?
That’s good to hear at least.
I hate that every time RS tweets, he gets bombarded with people yelling at him (rather rudely) about the record. So he tweets less.
It seemed like he was really enjoying Twitter for a while there but yeah, the bullshit people throw at him has really turned him off of it. You can hardly blame him.
He could restrict comments on his and The Cure’s social accounts. Even Taylor Swift does it, there are so many bots and trolls, even regular fans who constantly whine about “new album” on every single post🙄, controlling the comments would really put a stop to the bs…
Need to invite him to Reddit. This subreddit is chill af
Twitter is such a hateful social midia...
I deleted my 15? 16? year old account recently.
But then I failed and made a dummy account just for Cure info.
Hope to listen to that record at some point.
There were strong indicators that they were going to continue the Shows of a Lost World Tour in Australia this year, even down to someone who confirmed the band had a private jet reserved. I was convinced we would have had an announcement by now but...nothing. But, since it's in the southern hemisphere, they are going into winter now. So maybe it's gonna be late in the year, when it's warming up down there. Idk 🤷♀️
I'd love an Oct or Nov album release and then a tour down under. 🤞
nov 1st so it leaks on halloween would be perfect
YES
They are one of those bands that can announce a tour and it be sold out in days. So you never know
Nothing I’ve heard, been pretty quiet lately
This is his last post on Facebook I did send him a message tonight to see how he was doing and if he could update us... I told them that we're all very worried about him and fingers crossed he'll send a message back or his publicist will...lol
Roger has answered me:
I went to the tampa concert. It was my first concert ever, and The Cure being my no.1 favorite band this meant a lot... but the crowd sucked so so bad. And I went alone and I'm anxious/socially awkward so I couldn't wild out like I would've if I had gone in company of another cure fan or even just a friend to hype me, lol. I was so saddened by the experience, and even more now that I can't help but think they might not come back to the worst crowd on their tour lmao
I dont know how old you are, but coming from an elder Cure fan, you do you and dont let anyone else steal your joy. Go and enjoy yourself no matter what others are doing.
I was at that show and I’ve heard other people say the crowd sucked. Thanks to Robert’s war on Ticketmaster and incredibly good luck, I was able to get a front-row center seat. I was so mesmerized being that close to him that there could have been a war waging behind me and I wouldn’t have known it. What was wrong with the crowd?
I'll send Rodger a message on Facebook and see if he answers me, we've talked from time to time.
Looks like I’m going to have to be satisfied with seeing a Cure tribute band this summer. Honestly, I never thought there might be tribute bands for The Cure.
Usually, tribute bands tend to be for bands that broke up or don’t tour at all (think Elvis, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd). Will be curious how a Cure tribute will sound.
Lovesong in the US is really good
There’s a lot of Cure tribute bands I see them play at bars and small venues all the time in Southern California
I guess there are more Cure tribute bands than I expected for a band that only just toured last year.
I only say that because typically I think of a “tribute band” being bands that broke up and/or don’t tour at all because maybe they lost someone. You know like Zeppelin, Bowie, Pink Floyd, Elvis, TRex, Sex Pistols, Queen (for a while) etc.
Rogers been semi-active on twitter. He did have an update that he was halfway thru his treatment awhile ago.
