Does anyone know if it is Tesla's or Apple's fault that Apple Music sucks in a Tesla? I really want to shuffle my music library, but there isn't a feature for that. It also continues to play the same exact songs after creating a playlist when I select a song. It is always matching songs and they go in a 5 song loop playing the same songs over and over again.
Yeah, its annoying. Sometimes I don't know what to play and will determine from my large library.
Yep. If you hit the station you're listening to again it will sometimes break the loop.
Pretty sure this has to do with how Tesla uses the Apple Music api. (Just a guess based on what I’ve observed with long shuffled playlists.)
Often apis will only return a certain number of results per query and you have to chain requests together to get everything. To shuffle everything, that’d probably amount to lots of requests - then holding the results somewhere - then using the results in a random list.
When you shuffle a playlist you get only the first part of the list shuffled if it’s long enough (maybe not everyone’s Tesla does this but works like this on my 2018 model 3). Why does it work like this? IDK but could be some resource constraint - memory or storage - or the performance is significantly worse due to the added queries or something.
So basically the blame is probably on the Tesla app implementation or resource constraints, but a “play a random song” api query on Apple’s part could fix the problem too if it works like how I’m thinking.
Interesting. Maybe deliver 10 songs per query or whatever the max size for a Tesla is.
You're right but it could also be limitations imposed on the api by apple.
Mine always logs me out saying "another device is playing Apple Music" but my car is the only one.... 🥲
I thought we were sharing account... 🤔😜
I take a lot of relatively short trips during the week. My only issue with AM is when I shuffle playlist—and get out of the car and back in, the shuffle turns off and AM loses track of what songs I’ve played in playlist so I often can get same songs repeated. Hope that makes sense. It also can’t play smart playlists.
I don't have those issues using Apple Music in my M3. It's a little slower than Spotify but everything works as it should
Can you shuffle your songs? It is hard to navigate through my library
Shuffle Everytime I get in the car. Navigating around is also very easy. I have a 2021 M3. I don't think it's different by model
I fully agree with your complaints. When I try to shuffle a playlist, it shuffles only the songs that appear in the current window. In other words, if the playlist spills across multiple pages, it doesn’t play anything but the page you are looking at when you hit “shuffle.”
I also hate that it defaults the playlists to be sorted by when they were added with no way of changing that.
The Apple Music app on Tesla is really just not good.
Last time I used the web version of Apple Music it behaved the same way. It only shuffles the songs that are in view.
Mine always logs me out saying "another device is playing Apple Music" but my car is the only one.... 🥲
As a code writer, I would say both holds some of the blame.
There's always the option that the cars developed self-awareness and decided it doesn't like your taste in music...
Lately Spotify fails to start playing after listening in Audible, so I think there are general issues on Tesla side.
I play from my phone through Bluetooth with zero issues
Feel like it took Spotify yeeeears to be useful and bugs sorted out. Apple Music is going through those same growing pains in a Tesla.
I never have any problems with Apple Music in my model 3 highlander. What’s the fuzz about?
No shuffling entire library option
I use Apple Music and I’ve never had an issue on my 2023 m3
Same issue here. This app is terrible. Like someone said, it works like the web app. But Apple Music on iOS, Windows and Mac don’t. I hope we’ll get a update.
The extremely low bit rate is a larger issue IMO. I signed up for TIDAL just to have high quality music streaming in the car.
All I want is the ability to download music at a higher fidelity. Right now I’m paying extra for Tidal and I only use the service in my car.
I too have wondered if the Apple Music app in Tesla has been developed my Tesla or Apple. It’s watered down in the same way that the app is watered down on Sonos.
In the end its Tesla's fault, since Tesla made the app that you use. If they allowed Apple Carplay and Android Auto, they wouldnt have to create the own apps that work worse than the original.
Apple Carplay and android auto look like its from 2005. Their software engineers are terrible at making a modern pleasing UI.
Apple Music user in my Model 3. Zero issues. Always works well. So to answer your question as to fault: sounds like user error, to be honest.
How do you shuffle songs? All your songs
Songs on loop started recently for me, and it happens specifically if I go through a spot with poor service. If I see the map taking a while to load the squares, I know Apple Music will go in a loop.
As someone who used android for over a decade, it’s apples fault. Always. Everything of theirs outside their “ecosystem” sucks on purpose.
Makes sense. I'm considering ditching Apple for Spotify
🤣 how does this make sense tho? 4 comments before this one has told you they have little to no issues. one comment says OMG APPLE IS THE DEVIL and you're like yep maybe i should switch.
The issue is shuffling my library. I wonder how it is with Spotify.
Sometimes mine gets stuck in a loop where it plays the same two songs or same handful of songs. I use stations but you are right. I don’t see a shuffle for me songs
