It's the 24th century.
The guy whose job is to clean that carpet definitely has a higher quality of life than you do in the 21st.
Lol just saw this after writing the same thing.
But do you have a sweater to tie around your neck? Pre-qualification to get this job.
How do you think I was going to commit aforementioned murder?
You can't. He's not wearing a red shirt.
Picard has been eating popcorn on the bridge again!
Yep and you are! After your shift meet us on holodeck 2.
This one has layers.
Lower Decks! Lower Decks!
I would have killed for that job.
Lower Decks janitor with a fancy assignment
Babylon 5 did an episode like that. Seeing all the main characters lives play out from the perspective of two maintenance men working on the station.
Is this a set you can visit? I stumbled across the one in Ticonderoga, which claimed to be the only one.
How good is the one in Ticonderoga? Is it as good as the TOS bridge? I've never been there and hope to go someday but it's a bit of travel for such a small town.
Here's the TOS sets in action
It's legit, they have a lot of cool stuff, data's head included! You can take a tour of the real set and apparently Shatner had been there and they have all sorts of antecsotes from various relics. I highly recommend it.
Yes Ft. Ticonderoga is a boring town BUT it is about 45 minutes of lake george ny which is a fun town to visit for a few days. My family went up there to see the fort but stumbled upon this place by accident. We never even ended up at the fort.
Is the TNG set open in Ticonderoga? I can only find articles about it being in progress, but it's not mentioned on the web site.
I was there last August, its the iriginal series set and i dont think they are adding to it, no mention if a tng set getting added.
They are terrible at advertising. For instance, at Lake George you can find all sorts of flyers with nearby attractions but they don't even do that, maybe because they are nearly an hour north. We were just taking a side trip to see the Fort, and I saw the shuttlecraft in the parking lot and we had to investigate. When you walk in, there's a little gift shop and a museum (free to look) with lots of props and outfits, mostly from the original series but also cool stuff like data's head from Times arrow which I absolutely popped for, and plenty of other cool props. Every hour or so they do a tour, you get to walk through "the hallway" and the medical room, engineering, Kirk's office and you end up on the bridge. They don't want you touching anything except you are allowed to sit in the captains chair. My kids don't really know star trek but still enjoyed the experience of walking through the set.
I just found it, Google Star Trek Original Series Set Tour. If you are planning a trip, and have more money than me, they do get cast members (they mentioned Shatner does a tour and a lunch for $10k a head and is there a couple times a year) and that frakes and spiner were coming later that year (2023). This is everything I know as a one time visitor who lives 4 hours from there.
I found this article from two years ago mentioning that they are building a TNG set and previewed it for a convention. https://blog.trekcore.com/2022/08/star-trek-set-tour-unveils-first-next-generation-set-builds/ not much other mention of it though. I might send them an email to inquire.
We will be in NYC for a few weeks this summer visiting family and were considering a trip up to VT/nh to see some friends. A TNG exhibit would seal the deal for us to make the trip. We're some of those weird trekkies who aren't as big on TOS.
This looks like a BTS snapshot from the early seasons or between seasons when they switched the set from the wood panels to the padded walls.
Not at all. This was one cobbled together for convention photos…I think the horseshoe was salvaged from the Experience in Vegas.
No it's not.
Wouldn’t there be human child to do this… reference Bender - Futurama.
Misinterpreted vacuum of space job description
So much for the self cleaning starships…
The Lower Lower Deckers
He said "Son, have you seen the galaxy? Well, what would you say if I said that you could? "Just carry this vacuum, you won’t even get paid" I said "That sounds pretty good"
Yeah, exploring which of the bridge crew has dandruff. And trying to figure out whose long hairs clog the brushes up so bad.
I'm looking at you, Counsellor Troi.
I don't know, Worf has an awful lot of hair, too. It's at least shoulder length. And we don't know very much about Klingon hair.
It’s cold in space. That’s why he has a sweater.
The technology to remove viruses from your system MID TRANSPORT exists, lol. But I suppose cleaning starships would be a regular ensign duty
Can you imagine being pressed into sanitation duties in the 24th century when the technology is already advanced enough to create completely artificial life forms. Can we not get a roomba in here?
If you’re in here cleaning…. Who’s driving the ship???
... but yet he's vacuuming for the stars.
Wesley!!!
Vacuum the carpet… make it so!
More like "Vacuum the carpet... make it suck!" 😂🤣🤣
I’d still take a job like that in a heartbeat.
Ok Cara, You see that spot? You see that where the Captian is standing? I vacuum that. I vacuum that and now everyone on earth is seeing where I vacuum.
No Roomba?
Little known fact: This guy's grandfather was the maintenance worker who was vacuuming outside the Kobayashi Maru simulator in 'The Wrath of Kahn' when Kirk and Spock are taking......JK! 😂
Technically you're in space

Would literally kill for this job
