Space Battleship Yamato is a Japanese anime TV series and set of movies. It was created in the 1970s. It has since been rebooted with improved animation and stories. The anime series was first broadcasted in the United States in 1979. It is known in the United States as "Star Blazers". It was the first popular English-translated anime that had an overarching plot and story line that required the episodes to be viewed in order, which paved the way for future arc-based, plot-driven anime translations.

I've re-opened the sub to ask you all if we should continue the blackout.

Reddit officials are calling it "noise" and are saying that it will pass. You can take this as you will; either it means we can protest forever and nothing will change -- or -- if we don't protest forever then nothing will change.

Please vote on the poll, and discuss below. I don't want to keep this community from the people who enjoy it, but I do feel like Reddit will ruin everything if we don't do something.

According to Wikipedia, 2199 was released between 2012-2013. The 7 films were released between April 7, 2012 – August 24, 2013. With the anime episodes releasing roughly around the same time a bit later.

2202 was similarly also split into 7 parts and released between February 25, 2017 – March 1, 2019.

There’s roughly a span of 1-2 years from first movie released to final movie released.With each movie being released a few months after each other.

Since Yamato 3199 will also be 7 films or 26 episodes, do they have the second movie already made? Can we expect news from it relatively soon after the first movie?

Forged from an era of desperation, the Zuiho represented more of a need for a new type of carrier during the 2nd Interplanetary War. Though Earth's fleets had mighty battleships and top of the line cruisers, especially compared to their Martian counterparts, Mars still held the upper hand when it came to pilots, their aircraft, and especially, their aircraft carriers.

As such, it was proposed to create an emergency light carrier out of the hull of the Kongo-Class Battleships, both to save time and money from designing a new carrier, as well as parts commonality for the increased logistical ease. Despite this, the Zuiho's development was plagued with numerous issues. For one, they can't just "take a bit off the top and put a flight deck," as that would impede heavily upon the internal components of the original Kongo. Consequently, they had to completely shift around the internals of the Kongo, allocating space for an added on hanger on top of the ship. They also had to remove the iconic 36.0cm guns in order to make space, replacing them with 15.2cm guns from the Murasame instead for the barest amount of self defense against surface ships.

In the end, the designers had a ship that was almost as long to produce as a Kongo, just as expensive, and could only carry a couple air wings due to being built on a converted battleship hull. Yet, that was all they needed. With these new Zuiho's, air superiority slowly shifted into Earth's favor and they began to gain the upper hand. Eventually, over the burning skies of Mars sat the Zuiho's within Earth's battlefleets. It was also them, thanks to their larger interior space compared to other vessels, which helped facilitate the evacuation of Mars once its biosphere had been bombarded from orbit.

By now, the costs of the Zuiho's had mostly fallen down with so many ships of the class being made, and they became the standard carrier for a post-war Japan. They mostly lived a quiet life, patrolling, training, and ferrying men and material to and fro.

However, when the Garmillas came knocking, these carriers were woefully outdated, and many of them were lost throughout the 8 year span of when Earth was fighting the Garmillas within the Sol System. By 2198, only 5 carriers out of the original 48 remained in fighting condition. The Zuiho herself had managed to evade serious damage miraculously, and went on to lead a very successful career of carrier operations against Garmillas forces.

As the Splinter Force departed for Iscandar in early 2199, the Zuiho and another one of her sisters, the Fikuryu, left alongside the Yamato. The rest remained near Earth, providing her the only remaining carriers that Japan had to offer to protect them and wait for the Yamato's return. Both the Zuiho and the Fikuryu would be sunk in fleet operations against the Garmillas, with Zuiho's luck finally running out when the Garmillas Imperial Guard's 227th Aggressive Reconnaissance managed to find her outside of a battlefield, surround her and her escorts, and sank them.

One of the most modern light cruisers at the time of commissioning, Agano was launched in mid April 2191 following the first contact event with Garmillas. The Agano was a rather large light cruiser at 197.5 meters long, but had been armed with the lighter twin 90th Year Type 15.2cm compression lasers compared to other ships her size. Despite this, she holds out heavily on her speed and maneuverability, being much more nimble than contemporarily sized vessels. She came equipped with standard anti-aircraft barbettes, contrary to many ships that proceeded her. Additionally, Agano had with her a powerful, unguided anti-ship torpedo suite and a masterclass sensor device, allowing her to perform independent scouting operations. However, her guided armament was vastly limited, only restricted to an 8-cell smokestack VLS system.

In 2196, the Agano's received their first major class enhancement overhaul. They were given a reinforced anti-aircraft armament in more essential locations, the 95th Year Type 15.2cm Model B 152mm guns with enhanced positron emitters for more power, and a 254mm spinal compression howitzer on their prow. However, most importantly was the severely enhanced sensors system that gave the Agano's greater viability in detection, identification, and tracking targets- both naval and aircraft.

Finally, in late 2198, an experimental refit were given to a select few surviving Agano-class ships. This saw the dorsal 3 Type 95ths be replaced with the barreled 98th Year Type 15.2cm Model C guns, whilst still retaining the ventral two. The 98th Year guns have a faster turret and vertical traverse, as well as a more volatile positron beam that explodes on impact. This does wonders against enemy aircraft, however, has a more limited effect against ship hulls. Because these guns require much more energy to operate, the spinal compression howitzer was reduced in caliber- from 254mm to 200mm.

Basic construction is complete, just need to add some more light, paint, and detailing.
