I just want to be able to cut my hair DOWN, to be really short. I don't necessarily want it to be completely bare naked. Right now, I wax, and it's fine, but it hurts really bad. I'd prefer to have some type of razor that just cuts my hair down to be short and flush with my skin.

I second this! I don’t like completely bald down there, I just like it real short. Men’s beard trimmers come with little guards and they are so much better than women’s trimmers you can get for that area.

YEEES. The "pink tax" is definitely at work when it comes to electric shavers and the like. Men's beard trimmer is cheap and gets the job done.

That’s all I use. Shaving irritates me so bad, so using a trimmer to get the hair super low works well for me.

I use a Venus women’s electric trimmer for down there. Works the same as a men’s one for a beard just probably paid the pink tax on it 🤣
See I'm curious about this because that's what I always assumed, but when my pink "women's" one died I replaced it with a men's one for convenience (easier to find in stores), and the new one "bites" me infinitely more than the old one did. Probably about 1/3 to 1/2 of the times I use it I end up bleeding – and I have decent hand-eye coordination, I'm an artist, so it's not that. I wonder if the men's one might be less well-shaped for navigating tighter curves? Or I just have shit luck.

Hmm that’s too bad! I know the one I use is a little bit smaller than my boyfriend’s beard trimmer. There has been a time when mines bitten me too but it comes with a guard so if you’re okay with it being a little longer the guard works the best and I’ve never had trouble with it catching or scratching
I have a Meridian. What I love about it is it is actually a pretty weak trimmer. With no guard on, you still don't get a super close shave. So I feel super safe using it in sensitive areas because it's too wimpy to cut me but trims the hair just fine.

Echoing trimmer vs razor superiority. Razors, no matter how good, are going to cut too close. Going with the grain will help a little, but there's going to be a high chance of ingrowns and it'll still itch. Trimmers are idiot proof. I just sit backwards on the toilet and hack away for about five minutes. Make sure your trimmer is charged and clean. I always shower after, because the wee little hairs get frackin everywhere and they can be pokey.

I mean.. it depends on a lot of factors? Budget, your location, & situational use. If you wanna use it in the shower, get a waterproof one.
Honestly, just search 'Bikini trimmer'/ 'Beard trimmer' on Amazon or something and take a look at the options. Some are super fancy with a lot of frou-frou accessories. Searching 'bikini trimmer' will mean you're gonna pay Pink Tax but it'll come in a cute colour, whereas 'beard trimmer' will come with a shit ton of interchangeable pieces for different styles. Dunno how fancy you wanna get. lol.
Note - This method will leave visible hair, and it will not feel smooth to the touch. It won't look like you waxed - it'll just be short. How short is up to you, but in my experience trimmers always leave at least 'stubble'.

I use the schick razor to shave everything but the mound. I just lightly graze that part with the blade once a week and it makes it really short and trim. I’ve been using this razor for years. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I don’t need to be super careful either.
I only learned this trick a few years ago— of gently grazing the pubic hair you just want to trim down a bit / thin out. so helpful!

How do you prevent cutting yourself in the hard to reach areas with an electric trimmer?
It's way easier for me with an electric trimmer than an actual razor. Sometimes I'm in a hurry and miss a spot trying to go quickly, but almost never nick myself. Unlike a razor, where I gotta be slow and careful and still somehow end up with a slice somewhere and not understanding how I did it.

I actually really like the Philips Norelco OneBlade intimate. Decently priced, and you can swap out the blades every few months so it’s a clean trim. I’ve never nicked myself and I like that it trims very close, but not too close that the hair gets “spikey” or sharp if you know what I mean lol

I do this all the time and all these years I use men triple blade shaver and run it lightly over the hairs, apply light pressure only.
I just use an electric trimmer. Those never shave completely smooth. The one I have even has a “guard” if you want to trim it and leave a little length. But the guard can be removed too if you want a closer (but not completely bare) shave.

At Sally’s they have a small shaver with different guards, it’s called “The Peanut”. Men’s shavers are heavy, this little guy is super lightweight and I have had mine (for the same purpose) for at least 15 years.
I switched to shaving and it's way more comfortable. For a razor that cuts your pubes short without being bare, I recommend using a razor specifically designed for sensitive areas. These razors usually have a more gentle blade and a lubricating strip to help reduce irritation. Try the Gillette Venus or the Schick Intuition. They're both great options and will give you the short, flush look you're going for.
